Chapter 1: Parriet
Once upon a time in Lexington, Kentucky there was a girl named Jane who always wore riding clothes and had everything for a horse but she didn't have a horse. (Absence of commas, whoah.) One day Jane was taking a walk with her dad to collect things for her new bird house. Suddenly she stopped. Her dad, who was right behind her, bumped into her. "Oof!" he said as they fell on top of each other. "Dad," Jane said. "What hon?" said dad. (Ooh, the lack of dialogue grammar and new paragraphs is making me cringe.) "Look over there. Isn't it pretty?" said Jane. Dad said, "Where? I see bird droppings on a tree stump, but I don't think it's pretty." "Dad! Look closer! It's a horse! A mustang!" said Jane. She was right. Standing in front of a giant tree stump was a beautiful brown mare with a white mane and tail and a blaze. "Dad, can I keep Parriet?" asked Jane. "Who in the world is Parriet?" said dad. "Parriet is the horse!" said Jane. Dad said, "Yes, you can feed Parriet." "No! Keep her!" yelled Jane. (No need to yell, please don't startle the horse.) Dad said, "You can keep her, Jane." (Why would he immediately let her keep a random wild horse? I guess we'll never know...)
(Finally, a new paragraph!) Jane walked over to Parriet. Parriet nuzzled Jane's pocket. "She probably smells my blueberries!" said Jane. Jane had brought some blueberries for a snack. She fed them to Parriet. (Can horses even eat blueberries?) While Parriet was eating the blueberries Jane slipped a halter on her and led her back home.
At home, Jane put Parriet in the paddock and watched her until dinner. "Jane!" said her mom. "It's time for dinner!" Jane went inside. When she was inside she said, "now that I have Parriet I can barrel race and race in the Triple Crown and enter her in jumping shows and..." (Er... no, you can't exactly just randomly take a wild horse and enter in the Triple Crown... also I am having such a hard time not fixing my obvious grammar mistakes... 😂) "Jane! Jane! Slow down! Who is Parriet?" said Jane's mom. But Jane kept on talking like a broken record, "...and play polo and enter her in dressage tests and..." "WHO IS PARRIET?!!" yelled Jane's mom. "You haven't told her about Parriet yet?" asked Jane. "I thought you might want to tell her," said dad. So Jane told her.
