Garrus
Name: Goes by Garrus
Age: ~7.5 Million
Sexuality:
Asexual
Species:
While his own species does not have a name for itself, most of the galaxy refer to them as Changelings.
Crush: Depends on the RP but the main ones are either Steve, Thor or T'challa.
Personality:
Despite being almost completely mute, Garrus has a way of making their opinions heard- be it through harsh hand movements or the scratchy "nails on a chalkboard" sound they can still produce. Hot tempered yet hard to actually anger, they react fast to situations which involve the safety of themselves or other species. However, Garrus is usually incredibly shy around sentient species, going so far as to attempt to avoid interaction unless completely necessary. Due to this, they could be labeled as antisocial and most commonly known sayings tend to go over their head.

Appearance:
While human: They are around 6'6 inches, with short messy black hair and orange eyes. In a dark enough setting, their eyes seem to glow. They're built like a tank, covered in tattoos that seemingly come from every single era that humanity has existed. They have a prominent scar going across their throat which is usually hidden by a bandana. Another scar sits at the nape of their neck, and an alien looking rune appears to be burned into the left side of their chest.
When in their "true" form:
Garrus stands at around 65 meters at the shoulder and is 29 meters long from snout to tail.
Head: Their head is a mix between a shark and a piranha, with a wide maw that is full of 2 rows of teeth, beady orange eyes that are situated deep in the skull and nasal holes at the top of the snout. The head and throat are covered by dull black scales, with the throat and nape having a large scar on it.
Chest: Their chest and back are covered by chitin plates, the chitin around the left side of their chest heavily damaged, the pectoral plate looks to have been torn off and an alien symbol was burned onto their chest.
Arms: They have four arms, the two that are situated on the same place as on a human- are big and bulky tipped with large claws.
The other two arms sit just a little below the first pair. These are slender and much more delicate, meant for grabbing and holding rather than inflicting damage. During battle, these arms are usually folded to avoid bringing damage to them.
Lower body: The lower body is similar to a centaur with it having four legs. But that's as far as similarities go. The legs, like the body, are strong and sturdy. They're digitigrade but weirdly enough, the knees go backwards, instead of forwards like on many other species.
Legs: Each leg ends with three sharp claws which are designed for climbing.
Tail: Their tail is long and muscular, covered mostly in chiting. About every half a foot the chiting parts at the sides to allow the tail to turn. Underneath the chiting are scales
Body: Their body is covered by black chitin, except around the joints, head, and parts of the neck, where the chitin is replaced by dull scales. Despite the scales dull appearance, they are only a small step down from the chitin. At first glance, Garrus's body seems decorated by two orange dots where the chitin meets scales, however, they are not dots- but rather eyes. Nearly every piece of chitin is actually a sub-species of the Changeling called a Preomite. (Info about changelings down below)
Likes:
Garrus prefers to be around animals rather than people, having a rock ceiling over their head reminds them of home. They like soft and slow songs, sometimes even beginning to chirp along to them. Could be bribed with food to do quite a lot.
Dislikes:
Garrus does everything they can to hide their scars, should someone mention a thing about them, Garrus will become either aggressive or scared- depends on the individual in question. They don't like fighting or having attention drawn to them, preferring to avoid conflict in general. They also don't like staying in a place where the temperature doesn't change and remains warm to hot and don't even get them started on music like rock or metal.
Speed: 2/5
Strength: 5/5
Intelligence: 3.5/5
Toughness: 5/5
Fighting ability: 4/5
Powers/strengths:
Greater than superhuman levels of strength, speed, endurance, smell, and hearing. Biological immortality (can't die from old age). Having existed for a long time they know a lot of different fighting styles, knows how to use most modern weapons. Can climb almost any surface that can support their weight. These strengths get almost quadrupled when in their real form, along with hard to pierce chitin and scales. Garrus, like the rest of his species, have the ability to change their shape and appearance through the Preomites.
Weaknesses:
Exceptionally poor eyesight and inability to swim, coupled with a sensitivity to light. Extreme temperature is capable of stunning them for a bit. Due to the size and gravitational pull of Earth, their weight is increased drastically even in human form. Because of this Garrus could only revert to their true form for less than an hour before his muscles would give out and they'd be forced to revert back to human or be forced to the ground because of their weight. They can only change their shape a few times in one go before the Preomites become tired and need time to do so again. To change shape Garrus and by extension, the Preomites, need to know everything about what they're changing into down to the atomic level, or else...well, let's just say it wouldn't end well for Garrus.
Backstory:
Long ago Garrus was one of the thousands of Hunters in his hive. They had lived for a few million years on their home planet before their species had discovered space flight technology. It took another few million years before Garrus was assigned to be part of a crew that would be the first ones to leave their solar system. Garrus spent millions of years traversing the stars, finding and colonizing worlds, enslaving entire species of aliens or straight up whipping them out when they didn't comply. One species fought back after years of enslavement, while Garrus's team was on the planet they were attacked by rebels using the Changelings own technology. During the initial confusion, the Preomite on their neck got injured in a way that allowed Garrus to have some semblance of individual thought. As the years went Garrus continued doing the bidding of their Queen, but with every new planet colonized they began thinking more for themselves, silently questioning why they had to enslave and conquer. Secretly, Garrus had been communicating with the other space-faring races that had formed a temporary peace amongst themselves and were attempting to stop the Changelings, changing information and helping in little ways. As their ship was coming towards a fresh new planet, Garrus openly opposed their Queen and questioned why they had to colonize another planet. Their Queen did not take lightly to Garrus's opposition. Garrus was stripped of their rank and branded a traitor, their ability to speak was taken away and they were to be exiled. Having been warned that this might happen Garrus had communicated with the other races to attack the places where most of the Queens resided. They attacked just as Garrus was about to be exiled, using the confusion to their advantage they used an escape pod to blast themselves to the planet their species had wished to colonize, and on that planet, they stayed, watching as the top species evolved and prospered and waged war, coming to call the planet Earth.
The Changelings (just info to flesh them out a bit, unnecessary to read for roleplay):
The Changelings hailed from a planet called Voxlen, which is around 0.5 times larger than Jupiter. The planet is orbited by twin moons and the planet experiences constant temperature fluctuations on its surface. The Changeling species is similar to ants or bees, with them having multiple casts like a queen, warriors, hunters, etc. They are asexual and only a queen is capable of reproducing via its own insemination. The casts all appear different, however, a few traits appear on all Changelings-
Two pairs of arms,
Their ability to copy appearance and sounds
One Preomite that is attached to their necks and acts as a relay point, connect all of their minds to one.
Changelings formed massive hives and colonies deep in the earth of Voxlen, where the temperature doesn't change as much.
The casts include:
Queen: These are the largest of their species, averaging at around 400-500 meters in height, with very little in musculature. The Queens are slender with small heads, broad shoulders, and four small arms, their waists lead into snake-like tails- devoid of legs they have an egg sack which grows from the tail. A queen will lay around 1000-2000 eggs in a day- the size of the egg indicates the cast yet rarely will there ever be another queen egg laid. A queen will only have one Preomite attached to it, which will be similar to a centipede. This Preomite will be how the queen and their spawn will share a hive mind. All of their spawn are connected to a Queen by a hive mind and are incredibly loyal.
Guards: The guards resemble Earth tigers or other large felines. Being fully quadrupedal with massive heads full of teeth, stacked full of muscle and covered in thick plates of chitin with created claws and spikes these things are a defensive unit for the hive. Ranging from 30-200 meters in height depending on their age and hosting about 50-60 Preomites, they are most densely situated near the Queen or new excavation tunnels.
Warriors: These are a purely offensive unit, meant to charge in and kill as much as they can. Hosting about 50-60 Preomites and averaging at 120 meters they stand bipedal and are covered in more muscle and more durable chitin than the guards, they're built like tanks, even by changeling standards. With wide heads full of teeth, large horns on their heads and no neck, their most dangerous weapons are their claws. Where the rest of the casts have some semblance of arms, the warriors have a sickle-like claw on each arm. Vicious, fast, and durable these things are a nightmare to fight.
Hunters: Hunters, like the name suggests, are responsible for providing food for the hive. They are one of two casts that ever venture out of the hive. Because of this, they are better adapted to sudden temperature changes. Meant for speed more than endurance, these things have a centaur-like lower body, four hands- two of which have massive claws, wide mouths, and whip-like tails. The average Preomite count is 30-40 their height at an average of 70 meters.
Drones: Drones are one of the smallest Changeling classes, averaging at 40 meters they only ever have 10-20 Preomites attached to them. Having very little in the way of muscle on them except for large claws meant for digging, drones have an arachnid lover body, their abdomen is used to create webbing to the internal caverns of their hive. They are the ones that maintain the hive, build new tunnels and take care of the eggs.
Preomites: Preomites are the smallest cast of the Changeling, their height varying from one to another and looking like various insects from Earth. They serve as a form of organic armor for the hive, their chitin being incredibly thick and durable. Preomites are symbiotic. When they are laid, a drone is tasked with placing the egg on another Changeling and securing it with their webbing. When the eggs hatch the larva immediately secures itself onto the Changeling, forming a symbiosis and a mind link to the Changeling. Preomites are also the reason why their species are called Changelings. Preomites have the ability to alter the DNA of themselves and the Changeling, allowing the Changeling to alter its appearance at will because of its symbiosis with the Preomite. The first Preomite that is attached will always be to the nape of the neck, which forms the bond between the Changeling and its Queen.
The Changelings had advanced fast as a species, going from making hives to becoming the apex species to colonizing planets in only a few million years. To most species, they were a cruel race, taking everything that they could. Their ability to alter their DNA made them almost impossible to defeat, where one would fall hundreds would take their place. The Changelings constant expansion had caused other warring factions to form a truce to face their threat. It wasn't until one of their own had rebelled and gave vital information over the span of years, were the applied aliens able to deal a lethal blow to the Changelings by infiltrating their hives and killing most queens. Without the queens to guide them the Changeling empire quickly fell, their numbers dwindling as the universe hunted them down for thousands of years, until they were slowly forgotten. It is unclear how many of them still remain, either stuck on some distant planet or hiding amongst other species.
