Grey Ashnex
"True monsters are the ones that kill for a selfish desire, and feel nothing for it. I don't kill for a selfish desire, yet I feel nothing for taking lives. Does that make me a monster?"
~Grey Ashnex~
Grey was left as nothing but a mere baby at the door of the Abyss Watchers with no traces of his origin. Seeking an answer on what to do with him, the Abyss Watchers prayed to the old wolf of Farron but were surprised when the Old Wolf chose Grey as an Abyss Watcher. They took him in and raised him, teaching him and telling him stories and legends.
One day Ghear Ashnex, the Moonlight hunter, visited the Undead Legion to tell them about his retirement. He saw young Grey training on the Abyss Watchers unique sword technique and was told by the Abyss Watchers that he had a great talent. Ghear decided to take Grey to pass his knowledge on to him.
Ghear took Grey, and another child of the Boreal Valley called Tiara, not as children, but as students. However, over time they grew fond of each other and became a family. Ghear adopted both of them and gave them his last name.
When Ghear finished training them, he made Grey make a promise to him before he returned to the Abyss Watchers.
When Grey returned, he joined as an official member and part took the Wolf Blood. After he became undead, Grey started doing his Abyss Watcher duty to the fullest.
At one point, he met the warrior of Sunlight Brite of Astora and developed a friendly rivalry with him.
Grey even managed to fulfill his promise to Ghear and kept on his teachings while fighting the abominations of the Abyss.
However, Grey came back one day to find the Abyss Watchers corrupted by the Abyss itself. Grey had no choice but to kill all of them.
Outraged and saddened, Grey went on a rampage where he started killing anything he didn't consider human. One time, he was almost killed by Dark Wraiths which would have turned him hollow but was saved by a red hood wearing knight called Gael.
After hearing his story, Gael told Grey that he shouldn't waste his life on petty revenge, that he should keep moving forward for his past comrades.
Grey found truth in Gael's words and decided to follow them. He returned to Farron Keep and kept his duty as an Abyss Watcher. One day after saving a village from Dark Wraiths, Grey was pulled by the Abyss into a new and unknown world.
He discovered that this world was called Runeterra and that he was in the nation of Ionia. Looking for a way home, He started traveling the nation meeting, and discovering new things.
During his travels, he encountered the nine-tailed Fox, Ahri. At the beginning, they simply passed by each other while traveling the same road, but Grey noticed people after her.
Those people turned out to be mercenaries, who had anti-magic armor, giving them advantage against Ahri after she went her own way.
When all hope seemed lost for the Nine Tailed fox, Grey came in and saved her by killing the mercenaries.
Ahri was intrigued by the unknown warrior, she asked him where he was from not recognizing his armor, but she didn't recognize the name of his home either.
Grey told her that he doesn't belong here and that he was looking for a way home. To thank him for saving her life, Ahri decided to help him travel knowing the land more than he does.
Over time, they grew as close friends. Ahri however, had to keep taking lives a secret fearing what Grey would think of her. But her fears came true when Grey cough her red-handed after she took the life of a villager.
Devastated, Ahri ran away afraid of Grey's reaction. However, Grey easily caught up and cornered her.
Instead of hurting her, Grey simply asked why she did it. Ahri told him that it was her predatory nature and that she needs to do it to keep her magical energy.
Ahri thought of herself as a monster but was absolutely shocked when Grey thought otherwise. He told her that she wasn't a monster because she feels guilty and that monsters don't feel guilty, and also that she wants to change for the better, which is more human than most people he met.
At that moment, Ahri found a true friend in Grey and could do nothing but hug him and cry her eyes out.
When she calmed down, Grey promised her to stop looking for a way back to his own world and to look for a way that will help her live in peace without the need to kill anyone.
Ahri protested at first not wanting Grey to abandon his home, but Grey didn't change his mind.
She eventually agreed on Grey's promise, as long as he promises to stay with her from now on, which he agreed.
Now, they travel together and exploring all kinds of new events and misadventures. Over time, their relationship became more than just mere friends.
