Personality: Ella is a charitable and good person, unlike the stepmother she's known since she was young. She takes kindness as a virtue and never ever says words of intentional harm.  Around her stepmother, she is very quiet and submissive, trying to fit in the mold of what is expected of her, being seen and not heard. She does whatever she says, even if it's wrong. Around those she is close to, she is a very playful and adventurous person. She's the kind of girl that will sneak out to go riding just to have time to herself for a couple of hours. She feels the pressure of being the future queen and wants to help her kingdom once she comes of age and lead everyone to prosperity. She also wants to do right by her parents and is afraid of disappointing everyone. She puts a wall around herself in order to protect those that she loves because throughout the years those she's loved have gotten hurt. She sacrifices her own happiness for the sake of the safety of those around her.

Background: Ella's parents King Christopher and Queen Gabrielle had married for love, Gabrielle was a concert pianist and Christopher fell head over heels for her when he saw her play. They were able to get married since she was a distant relative of an earl in a neighboring kingdom. About a year into their marriage, Gabrielle got pregnant and gave birth to Ella. Unfortunately, she passed away due to complications that happened during childbirth. Christopher raised Ella on his own for the first few years of her life, but ended up remarrying Levana in order for Ella to have a motherly figure in her life. Ella grew up relatively happy and adored her family, even if Levana was distant from her. She learned the things a princess was supposed to learn, etiquette as well as how to rule the kingdom one day. She also learned the piano and was told by many that she was a spitting image of her mother. 

Ella met her best friend Oliver when she was about five years old. Wanting to go on an adventure, she went into the hedge maze in the castle gardens by herself. She had only went in with her father a couple of times prior to this. She ended up getting lost and was on the verge of a meltdown when a boy a little older than her found her. He ended up following her into the maze, seeing that she was by herself and predicted that she would get lost. He helped her find her way out and from that moment on, they were friends. He was her playmate and fearless protector.

Her life took a shift when she was nine years old. Her father had suddenly gotten very ill and passed away. Because she was so young, Levana took the throne. Things began to change for the kingdom after that day, as the new queen's true colors began to show. Daily trials were held for petty crimes that would happen throughout the kingdom and many would either lose their limbs or were executed right then and there. Ella was forced to be there during the trials when Levana deemed her old enough at the age of thirteen. The princess was horrified, but kept her mouth shut, as Levana terrified her. She was afraid of what would happen to her if she ever spoke out against her. Levana had been harsh in her criticisms when she was a young girl and while has never harmed her, has verbally lashed out at her. 

The only two people Ella felt she could turn to was Oliver, who had moved up the ranks and became her personal guard, and her maid Fifi, who was brought into the castle as an orphaned girl and given a job as a child. Ella would tell them of her dreams of bringing Goldheart back to its glory days and would count down the days until she turned twenty one and could become queen.
