Personality: Stubborn but sensible. Hardened by war and won't hesitate to use a gun. But caring about his sister and fiercely protective of her. Self-confident and competitive. Like his sister, enjoys a drink... or 10.

Backstory: Jax is the older brother of Absentia. He was born 17 years prior to her and signed straight up for the army as soon as he hit 17. This was in the middle of the Time War. Jax was so excited to be a big brother. But the situation went downhill fast when the war entered it's final weeks. Baby Absentia was born (but her parents had no time to name her), and Jax was forced to say goodbye as their parents took Tia onto the ship and begged him to come. Jax refused, which was hard for him. He wanted to go and protect his sister but he felt compelled to stay and fight the Daleks. It was a good move in the end because if he'd gone he'd have died alongside their parents when the ship crashlanded in Cardiff.

After being taken to a Dalek Prison Camp and escaping, Jax roamed what of space he could, searching for his parents and sister. Over 100 years later, still no sign of them. Until one night, he was sat in this bar, drinking vodka, and he saw this girl sat across the room. The same dark hair and eyes as him, and her face was familiar. It was Absentia. He watched her and followed her when she left but was too late to stop her being stabbed by waiting thugs. He held her in his lap as she began to regenerate, showing her Time Lady heritage and proving to Jax she was indeed his long lost sister. Jax soothed and helped her through her first regeneration, caring for her till while she adjusted to her new body. He explained what happened with their family and that they were siblings, and she told him about their parent's death and about being raised by Torchwood, the Doctor, and Jack.

Since then they stuck together, doing work as assassins/mercenaries for money.
