Backstory: Born in Moscow, Russia, Dimitri and his family moved to the United States when he was only 2.  His father changed their last name from Markov to Maxwell. He speaks both English and Russian fluently, but does not have a predominate Russian accent as he grew up in America.

Dimitri realized his homosexuality when he entered puberty and has kept it hidden from his parents. He spent a lot of his nights at seedy underground gay clubs before meeting his partner. After the Stock Market Crash in spring of 1929 and the start of the Great Depression, Dimitri and his partner decided down a path that would see that they made a lot of
money, but there was danger around every corner.
