Fern was angel sent to earth to monitor human life. She spent three months there before running into a demon by the name of Crow. The humans and other earth-bound angels she'd interacted with blamed their troubles on Crow, claiming he caused all their issues. She believed them for a while, but after spending some time with him, she realized he wasn't the one causing their troubles. She abandoned her duties as an angel to run off with him, hiding in earth with him. They fell deeply in love with each other, and Fern became pregnant. Unfortunately a large group of soldier angels found Crow and Fern and killed Crow and tore feathers out of Fern's wings, leaving her to die alone. Fern managed to survive, and continued to hide in the home Crow had made. Many months later she had Tyler.

She made sure to always tell him stories of his father. Fern eventually dies at the age of 500 (50).
