Backstory: Ateya is the daughter of the Omaticaya clan's Olo'eyktan and Tsahik, Eytukan and Mo'at, and is the younger sister of Neytiri. 

During the events of the Way of Water, when Neytiri and the Sully family leave the forest, Ateya becomes the next Tsahik-in-training (or Tsakarem) for the Omayticaya tribe.

However, she is not promised to Tarsem, who is the new Olo'eyktan. The two came to an understanding that they can eventually lead the clan together without being a mated pair.
