Her parents worked for the Aether foundation so she grew up with Gladion and Lillie. Like Gladion she ran away from the foundation headquarters to pursue her dream of being a strong Pokémon trainer. She is kind of a rival to the protagonists of the games. In the anime she again like Gladion is a rumored strong Pokémon trainer known as the blue haired Sylveon Pokémon trainer.
