Backstory: she had been raised with a pod of dolphins living in the sea off the coast of an island, she often stayed in the lagoon, the pod of dolphins knew she was a different from a normal mermaid or siren though they raised her to be one of their own, though one day the pod had been killed by orcas, Kai had swam off out of fear as she soon changed into a baby orca, she had no clue of what had happened or how as she was soon found by the orca pod, they didn't know what she really was but instead decided to take her with them, Kai refused to eat the scraps of her dead adopted family and was scared out of her mind though when she saw her change to flee she took it, she swam off as she soon turned back into a "mermaid" again as she was found by a small group of hammerheads, lost and afraid they took her in and raised her until she left on her own deciding to learn more about the world
