Background: She grew up with her brother, Tony Stark. She was 4 years younger than her brother and was always put under. They have a good relationship. When she was 21, she got kidnapped by Hydra and had her genetic code edited with needles injecting it into her to cause her to have abilities of speed and strength. Hydra controlled her for a few months teaching her how to kill and fight before she was able to break free. She acted like she didn't before she made a device and made her escape by blowing up the base.
This is why she was not wanting to get revenge on Bucky because she understood what it felt like to not be in control.
She suffers from PTSD from the events that happened in that place. She was lucky enough to survive.
