Chapter 9: Sleep
It's been a few days since then and you two have yet to talk about what happened that night.
The kiss to be exact.
You were back at home almost fully recovered and talking to Celest. While Deku had other things to tend to.
You were back in your apartment sitting on your couch with your best friend next to you.
"At least I got the loan," Celest said with a sigh.
"We can help out clearing the area if that helps bring the cost down." You offered.
"No, that'll just put us in danger. I think I'm gonna sell the land there and get a new place. It'll be easier." You watched as she thought long and hard about the pros and cons of leaving.
"Then I'll help you find a new place, I'll ask around and relay the information to you." Celest gave you a side smile and reached over to give you a hug.
"You have a heart of Gold Y/n." She mumbled onto your shoulder.
"It's what best friends do, they look out for each other." You heard a knock at the door and already knew who it was.
"I'll be right there!" You called out and jogged over to the door revealing the secret number one hero.
"Hey Y/n how are you doing?" You lifted an eyebrow seeing him looking so tired and worn out, it wasn't like him.
"I'm almost fully recovered but I think I should ask you the same thing." You walked over to him and took the goods he bought from his hands.
"Oh, you know after the incident work has been pretty hard." He let out a sigh. "I barely got out of work today." You put the bags on the table while he made his way to the couch. "Oh, hey there Celest." He waved at her weakly.
"Hey, you look really worn-out man." She commented before she looked at the time on her watch. "Crap I'd better get going if I wanna get that new place. See you around Y/n! Later Broccoli boy!" Celest stood up and gathered her things. She gave you a hug before letting herself out.
"Looks like she's as busy as ever." Added Izuku.
"Yeah, she's been working really hard to get a place for the new 'Celestial Cafe'." You let out a chuckle. "I just hope she doesn't wear herself out."
"I can tell she's a hard worker, and I think things will get better soon." He gave you that sincere smile he always wore around you making you redden slightly.
"Well aren't you just Mr. Positive." You joked as you got out the things from the bags on the table.
"Oh wait let me-" Izuku was about to stand up but it seemed like his legs failed him and he fell to his knees.
"Izuku!" You rushed over to him obviously worried.
"I'm, I'm okay just a little dizzy, it'll pass." He tried to brush it off.
"A little? Izuku you almost fell face first, come on let me take you to my room so you can lie down." You helped him up and guided him towards your bedroom. You turned on the lights and moved some of the stuff you had on your bed.
"You really don't have to do this for me, I can just lie on the couch." He tried to convince you but the tiredness from his voice wasn't really helping him.
"Don't be stubborn, you're worn out and you need to rest." You removed the covers and let him lay down and then covered him. "I'll get some orange juice or something to get your energy back up, maybe some chocolate might help the low blood pressure." You were mostly talking to yourself as you left the room.
Meanwhile, Izuku was actually glad he could finally get some rest, although all he really wanted was to spend more time with you.
He looked around tired to distract himself by looking at the small details in your room. Like the bookshelf that only had about 5 books on it with a bunch of little decorations. The computer on your desk, it looked pretty expensive. And the picture frames on your walls.
"Here you go." You spoke up suddenly as you re-entered the room with a glass of water and a packet of M&M's. "Okay so I don't have juice but I do have chocolate." You chuckled somewhat embarrassed Making Izuku laugh weakly.
"Why does that not surprise me?" He sat up and you took a seat next to him as he drank the water.
"How are you feeling?" You asked as you opened up the packet.
"Well, the room stopped spinning so I guess that's a good sign." Izuku wasn't going to admit that he was already close to being in tip-top shape since his Quirks also help out in his stamina and health.
"That's good." You smiled and handed him some chocolates. Izuku kept looking around since he didn't want to be reminded of the current situation of him being alone in your room. His eyes landed on a little girl with what looked like her parents in a small frame.
"Is that you?" He asked, trying to start up a conversation and honestly curious.
"Huh? Oh, yeah that's me with my mom and dad in the US." You answered casually.
"Is your family American?"
"Well, my parents are, I'm Japanese." You walked over to the framed picture and you were about to pick it up but then remembered why it was there in the first place so you took another one that was nearby and handed it over to him, although Izuku noticed the hesitation.
"My parents are from the USA and when they went to Japan for vacations, while my mom was pregnant with me, I was born a month early so I became Japanese." You showed him jazz hands as if it were something special which made him let out a chuckle. "But since my parents were there only for vacations they had to extend their stay to raise me here for a few years."
"So your parents are here?"
"Not exactly." Izuku raised an eyebrow. "See they stayed here to raise me for a few years but they weren't exactly legal..." You scratched the back of your head. "At one point they were deported and but I had to stay here in Japan with a friend of theirs. But I could only stay with their friend for so long, so when I was 18 I moved out."
"Oh right, that's what you mentioned before." Izuku recalled that time.
"Yeah, so I had to work hard to care for myself, that's when I met Celest and she gave me this job." You smiled proudly.
"So have you seen your parents after that?" He asked.
"Not really. See they have a 15-year penalty since they were here illegally, and I don't have enough money saved up to actually take a trip there." You could see the pity in his expression and you didn't want him to worry. "But I talk to them on a daily basis! So It's not all bad. What are your parents like?" You asked trying to change the subject.
"Mine?" He said blinking a few times. "My dad well..." He looked down at the sheets avoiding eye contact, you thought that maybe that wasn't the best choice. "He's gone." He answered sourly as if he didn't feel bad about it.
"Oh." Was all you managed to say. Izuku realized his change in attitude and shook his head slightly to get the horrible memories of that last fight out of his head.
"D-Don't worry about it. My mom although is still here and she's a very sweet person. Loving and caring to the bone. She's been by my side all this time." You could see his expression soften and it made you have this warming feeling inside.
"I can see you got that from her." You commented, not embarrassed at all by your statement.
Izuku was immediately reminded about the kiss you two shared and looked away feeling a blush crawl up his face.
"T-Thanks." He answered. You chuckled seeing him so flustered.
"So Izuku, about that day..." You left your sentence there, waiting to see what he had to say.
"Right..." His face was getting hotter and hotter by the minute and you were about to say something before he would spontaneously combust or something but he put aside his shyness to say what was on his mind because he's the #1 hero in all of Japan, telling a girl how he feels shouldn't be that hard!
"I-I really like you Y/n! You're cute and smart and kind and caring and all-around amazing! You're brave and selfless, not to mention your cooking is great! I feel like I'm on cloud nine when I talk to you and I love being around you, getting a massage or seeing you at the Cafe makes my day and I, and I would like to know if you feel the same way!" He shut his eyes as he made his confession.
You couldn't help but stare at him in aw. You've had quite a few confessions throughout your life but this was surely the best one yet.
Izuku slowly opened one of his eyes to take a peek at you, but you just sat there with a big smile on your face.
"Looks like you still need some sleep." You said with a chuckle as you stood up from your bed.
"H-Huh?" Izuku opened his eyes and stared at you completely confused. Was this your way of turning him down?
"Yeah, get some rest." You turned off the lights and headed for the door. You paused for a moment at the doorway and looked back. "I don't want the guy I like to faint now do I?" You then left and closed the door behind you leaving him dumbstruck.
Izuku held his face in his hands feeling it burn up.
Now how the hell am I supposed to sleep?!
