Chapter 8: Enough
As the days have gone by, you couldn't help but fall for the green-haired boy more and more. It basically became a routine to see him buy something in the morning before work or just swing by the Coffeeshop every night before closing time.
It was a calm night, and the last of the customers were leaving. "Hey what do you say we go to my place after this? I've got new video games." He wiggled his eyebrows playfully making you laugh.
"Sure thing but let me tell you I'm gonna kick your ass at..." You stopped when you noticed a woman walk into the Cafe with something you usually wouldn't see a normal person carry.
"Izuku, get down!" You shouted and tackled him to the ground once the shooting started. Izuku was on full alert and his mind was racing at a million per second. He took a hold of you and cover you with his body as the shooting continued.
"Keep your head low and if you find something to defend yourself take it!" He shouted over all the noise. You two kept crawling on the ground, trying to get further away from the crazy lady.
You froze when the noise stopped and the lady loaded her gun for another round. "This'll get that #1 hero out in the open." She commented before her shooting rampage continued.
"Come on we have to get out through the backdoor!" Izuku started crawling away but you just couldn't make your body move. "Y/n! Are you okay??" He asked making sure you weren't injured. You looked at him, absolutely terrified and barely managed to say. "I'm scared."
You've been through some pretty dangerous situations, assaults, small robberies, but nothing to this extent. You could see how people were falling to the ground, blood slowly dripping out of each and every one of the people that you once knew.
"How are you doing on the west side Shred?" The lady asked in a bored tone through her radio as she took out yet another cartage but you could see it was coming out of her stomach.
What the hell kind of quirk is that?!
"Everything is being set up Gun Gal." The guy known as 'Shred' answered through the small radio.
"I'm going to get you out of here, don't worry you'll be fine." Izuku tried to reassure you but you couldn't help but shake in pure fear of losing your life.
"Hey, you over there!" You could feel your blood run cold as she stalked over to you both, her heels clicking with every step. "I just hate people who try to act heroically." She had a disgusted look towards Izuku. "Don't worry, I'll show you what we do to you wannabe Heroes." She lifted her gun and Izuku was ready to take it head-on, he knew what to do in this kind of situation but you didn't know he was a specially trained Hero.
"♪I don't like my mind right now, stacking up problems that are so unnecessary.♪" You sang loudly catching her attention, making her gunpoint towards you. "♪Wi-Wish that I could slow things down, I wanna let go but there's a comfort in the panic.♪" You continued, your voice slightly trembling.
"What the hell are you doing!" The lady locked and loaded but she seemed hesitant to pull the trigger, which is exactly what you wanted.
"♪And I drive myself crazy thinking everything's about me. Yeah, I drive myself crazy 'cause I can't escape the gravity.♪" You could see the change in her expression and continued. "♪I'm holding on. Why is everything so heavy? Holding on; so much more than I can carry.♪" Izuku knew what he had to do from here.
He had to abandon you.
His hands gripped at his sides in frustration but he had to make the choice, and seeing all the lifeless bodies around him, he had to leave you, now.
As you kept Gun Gal distracted, Izuku slowly walked away and once he was out the back door, he changed into his hero uniform, furious as ever.
He leaped onto the roof of the small building and he could see from afar that the police were arriving and so were more villains. He was about to jump off when he suddenly heard a bullet was shot. If it weren't for his mask, you would literally see the color drain from his face.
Without wasting another second he got off the roof and froze at the scene. "That'll teach you to mess with me, you bitch!" The lady shouted as she kicked your body aside. Izuku felt his heart fall to the pit of his stomach but his emotions quickly morphed into something dangerous and instantly he was back in action.
"Looking for me?!" He shouted as he landed a solid punch in her face. She was instantly knocked out. "I'm gonna need rescuers at that back of Celestial Cafe on 27th street," Izuku informed through the communicator in his helmet.
"I'm going to need you all to exit through the back, if there is anyone in need of help please tend to th-" Izuku was cut short when he felt something coming his way. He turned to face it head-on and punched what looked like to be a bolder.
"Pretty quick ain't ya!" Some guy appeared, completely covered in rock as if it were his armor. "Looks like we finally fished ya out numba one."
Meanwhile, you groaned in pain as you tried to lift your head. Everything was getting blurry and you tried your best to find the exit. There were loud explosions and debris flying around every once in a while.
"Miss!" You heard someone shout. He was wearing white and but what confused you was how fearless he looked despite the horrible situation. "We're gonna get you out of here, don't worry you'll be safe with us." He said as he reached out and carefully took you in his arms to haul you out while the villains were distracted.
"Where's- Where's Celest? Izuku?" You mumbled once he got you out of the building. He carefully sat you down, leaning you on the wall of the store. "Where are they?" You kept asking.
"We already healed and took your friend Celest to the hospital." You heard a new voice, you imagined it to be a sweet lady.
"And Izuku?" You felt the guy handling your wounded arm. "He's..." He paused for a moment making you worry. "He's fine, he was the one that called us, he was also injured so we took him to the hospital." You were about to ask more questions but you were interrupted by the blinding pain you felt in your arm. You screamed in pain but the lady from before held a hand to your mouth to muffle the screaming.
"I'm sorry but we had to take out the bullet soon if not your injury could have gotten much worse." The guy explained. The pain subsided and you let them do their job, you would have to worry about Izuku and Celest later.
"Please stay here, we're gonna see if we can save anyone else inside." Informed the lady.
'If' was the only word hovering in your mind. You let your body slowly heal while as you waited out the fight. You had fallen asleep and you could feel someone carefully shaking you.
"Miss, would you like to be escorted to the hospital?" The guy from before asked. You blinked a few times to adjust yourself to the bright headlights from the ambulances. You looked around and you could see all the people that were being towed inside the vehicles with blankets around them and some were on the ground, black bags covering their bodies.
"No, I'm fine. Thank you." You slowly stood but, blood rushing to your head making you slightly dizzy. "Thank you for everything." You said as you started walking away with the help of what was left of the wall from Celestial Cafe.
You shuffle inside, taking in all the damage that was done.
Now what are we gonna do?
Your vision was clearing up and you could see the gaping hole that was once the front door. You could see the cartridges from the bullets Gun Gal shot on the ground along with sickening bloodstains.
You decided it was best to just go home and get some rest so you made your way out carefully.
You were attentive to watch your step and just as you were exiting the broken down building, you could see someone running towards you. As you get closer you could recognize the person being Izuku.
"Izuku! I'm glad to see you-" You were interrupted when Izuku grabbed your face to pull you in for a kiss. You were shocked, to say the least, and even a bit confused. He pulled away, tears accumulating in the corners of his eyes.
"I'm so happy you're alive." He held your hands in his and he looked down at the ground. "I'm sorry I left you. I was trying to go get help and I was gonna come back for you but I was caught up in..." His voice faded away along with the sounds of police sirens, everything was quiet, almost peaceful. You turned your attention back to Izuku, still rambling on, worry and guilt etched in his facial features. You were tired, better yet exhausted and you didn't want to deal with anything else. You just wanted to get home and forget any of this ever happened. But there was one last thing you had to do.
"Just shut up and kiss me." You grabbed the collar of his shirt and pulled him in for a second kiss, ignoring the pain in your left arm. Right now it didn't matter to you that he wasn't there, but he tried his best.
And that was enough.
