Chapter 7: You two
"See you tomorrow Celest!" You called out as you watched her leave, the doorbell ringing behind her.
About a week has gone by and it became pretty usual to have Izuku passing by the Cafe every once in a while to get a snack before work or something to eat for the night.
You thought it was nice having him around and it changed things up for you. Although you two wouldn't actually get to talk, just saying hi was enough to get you two smiling.
It was another regular day and it was your turn to close the shop. You gather your things and headed for the door, locking it once it closed behind you.
As you walked down the empty street you noticed that it started to drizzle.
I should hurry...
You thought as you jogged towards the bus stop. It was calm as usual since it was late at night and you were able to get a seat. As you get closer to your stop you noticed it was starting to pour.
Aw man...
You got off and used your bag as cover. You rushed down the sidewalk wanting to get out of the cold rain as soon as possible. You weren't too far but what definitely slowed you down was tripping on who knows what.
Ah crap! You groaned in pain and noticed your knees got scraped. "Just great." You complained to yourself as you slowly got up.
"You took quite the fall there little lady." A deep voice said all of a sudden coming from an empty ally way that screamed danger.
You didn't answer and kept making your way home, acting as if you never saw him. "Come on honey I ain't gonna hurt you." He said with a chuckle. You could hear his footsteps coming closer and apparently this guy had a friend.
"Why don't we have some fun?" He asked. You turned a random corner and make a run for it but you were shocked to see them in front of you.
"Where ya going little lady?" The first guy asked and grabbed you roughly by your right arm followed by the other guy grabbing your left.
"What do you say we go somewhere nice?" You were about to speak up but you couldn't, you were paralyzed.
"What's wrong? Cat got your tongue?" The two brutes laughed as they started taking you away.
I don't have time for this!
You were getting pissed off that they underestimated you. You started humming a lullaby and noticed how their movements were getting a bit sluggish, making the paralyzing quirk slowly go away.
"What the hell do you..." And then they were out, falling to the ground with a thud. You huffed in anger and gave the first guy a good kick to the gut before leaving.
You finally made it to your apartment building wet and angry. "On top of the fact that it's raining, and it's cold and I tripped!" You walked up the last flight of stairs and threw your bag down your hall towards the door.
"The nerve of those idiots trying to-! Izuku?" You stopped mid-rant when you noticed he was waiting at your door, plastic bag at hand, stepping aside from where you threw your wet bag.
"Um... Is this a bad time?" He asked sort of embarrassed as he scratched the back of his head.
"Oh, um, no, come on in." You walked over to your door and jammed your keys into the lock. Finally home, sweet home.
"Can you wait for me on the couch while I wash up, get into some warm clothes and tend to the scrapes on my knees?"
"Sure thing. And if you need help just ask." He offered. You lifted an eyebrow, your cheeks turning a slight pink. Izuku realized what he said had a double meaning so his face started to get red. "I mean help with your wound! You know cleaning it and bandaging it up!" You covered your mouth to stifle the laugh that was trying to break though.
"Sure thing." You dragged your feet over to your bathroom and finally got into a warm bath.
Meanwhile, Izuku wasn't very comfortable just waiting around doing nothing so he decided to take out some plates for the dessert he bought and put some water to boil while you got changed.
"So what brings you here?" You asked with a towel on your head and warm comfy clothes on, your wounds already tended to and bandaged up.
"I saw a nice store with sweets and thought I should share them with you." He said honestly as he set the last cup on the table. You went to your radio and turned it on, a USB already plugged in with all of your favorite songs.
"That was nice of you." You showed him a soft smile and took a seat along with him and started chowing down while 'House of Gold' was playing in the background.
"So what were you complaining about before? Something about tripping and..." He ured on for you to finish as he took the first bite.
"Oh." You gave him a dismissive wave. "Don't worry about it. I tripped when I was out in the rain and some guys tried to take me away but I was able to handle it." You nonchalantly drank your coffee, warming up your hands in the process.
"What? Where? How?" He seemed genuinely concerned and that the last thing you wanted.
"It was about three blocks down, but I knocked them out, they should be asleep on the cold wet ground right now." You assured. Izuku still wasn't convinced and wished he was there for you to protect you and give those guys a piece of his mind. "So how have you been doing at work? Anything new?" You asked trying to change the subject to a lighter note.
"Oh, well we're all hard at work. We're all usually busy."
"So what's it like working with Deku?" Izuku physically choked on some of his coffee. "Oh my gosh, are you okay??" You shot up from your seat and walked over to him trying to find a way to help him.
Izuku obviously couldn't answer since he was too busy coughing Y/n.
"Here lift up your arms!" You grabbed his arms and lifted them for him seeing he was still trying to breathe even though he still had water left in his airways.
Izuku slowly started regulating his breathing. "Tha-Thank you..." He spoke up in a raspy voice.
"Sorry about that I didn't know talking about Deku was a sensitive topic." You went back to take your seat.
"No no, It's fine, I was just caught off guard." He took a deep breath and steadied this breathing. "It's um... It's a lot of hard work but it's so fulfilling being able to help out those in need, in my own way of course. And he's uh, he's a great guy, really kind and always thinking of others. I love working there, it may be tough sometimes but in the end it's worth it." He looked down at his cup, remembering the day back in UA when he studied hard and all the trouble he went through to get to where he is now.
You could tell how passionate he was when he would talk about his work, seeing him think carefully about how to express his emotions about how much he really loves his job. "It's good to see you so elated to be there. I can tell you belong there by that look on your face." You let out a chuckle before taking a sip from your cup.
You knew Izuku would be embarrassed by your comment and you honestly enjoyed seeing him get all flustered. "You really were meant for the hero business." You added. Izuku was turning as red as Eijiros hair from your comments.
"U-Um, thank you." Izuku was doing this thing where he would cover his face with his arms which you thought was sort of peculiar.
"What are you even trying to hide?" You reached over and poked his arm, only then did he realized his actions and how close you had gotten to him.
"So-Sorry! It's just a habit of mine." He chuckled nervously. He was confused as to why he would do that, it's been a while since he's acted like when he was in school; somewhat shy and easily flustered.
"It's cute." You commented honestly, knowing how it would make him feel.
"D-Don't say things like that so casually..." He mumbled looking away. You just loved teasing this boy and you were gonna have your fun.
"But it's true! You look like a cute little broccoli." You covered your mouth to stifle your laughter.
"Y/n!" You couldn't help but laugh out loud.
"You are just adorable." You wiped away a stray tear. "You really are something Izuku." You couldn't help it, seeing him like that was the best, and even though you wouldn't admit it out loud, you couldn't help but fall for him.
-
"See you around Izuku!" You waved goodbye as he left. Izuku was about to head home but he had a small errand to finish before going.
He changed into his hero uniform and raced down the empty streets.
"Can you believe that bitch? The nerve-" The two guys from before were stunned when Deku appeared out of the blue, right in front of them, with his fist held up, angry as ever.
"So you two think it's fine to try and hurt an innocent woman?"
