Chapter 4: Hero
Izuku yawned as he tied up the villain and handed her over to the authorities. "Tough day Deku?" One of the police officers commented on seeing his tired state.
"Yeah, but it's nothing a little rest won't cure." He chuckled and straightened his posture. "See you around!" He waved goodbye and started making his way back to the hero building but that's when he realized that it was already closed by now.
Is it really that late already?
Deku opted for going somewhere where there weren't that many people. He found a small park and headed over to a bench to sit down and lifted his forearm. You see, Deku's hero suit also had a function that allows him to remove his suit and replacing it with backup regular clothes in case he ever needed. Pretty convenient don't you think?
Once he was all changed, he stretched his arms towards the sky and then let out a sigh. It had been a long day and since he didn't get much sleep yesterday, although he's not really complaining since he got to spend time with you, he was pretty tired nonetheless.
He looked around and recognized the neighborhood; the Cafe wasn't too far from there.
I don't have anything for dinner, might as well pick something up on the way home.
He thought with a smile. Izuku got up from the bench and made his way towards the cafe with the excuse that he wanted food, of course, he was also glad he would be able to see you again.
As he walked towards his destination he realized that there were people outside the cafe looking through the big glass window. He cocked an eyebrow in confusion and as he got closer he realized that they were there so they could hear you sing.
He carefully and politely asked the bystanders to move aside so he could get in. "♪I just wanna make you feel okay. But all you do is look the other way.♪" You sang as you heard the bell, that hung on top of the door, ring catching your attention. "♪I can't tell you how much I wish I didn't wanna stay.♪" You saw Izuku and gave him a small wave with a bright smile. "♪I just kinda wish you were gay.♪" You couldn't help but let out a chuckle seeing Izuku's reaction as if you were talking to him instead of singing the song. "♪I just kinda wish you were gay. I just kinda wish you were gay...♪" You ended the song and the whole Cafe gave a round of applause to which you took a bow.
"Thanks, everyone! I'll be taking a small break!" You started making your way off the small stage but you heard a collective of 'aw's from the crowd. "Don't worry I'll be back soon, and remember you can make any requests, just tell the waiters and I'll sing them for you all!" You waved and finally got off the stage.
"Hey." You greeted Izuku as you tied up your hair and took a seat.
"Hey, you were great up there." He complimented with a smile.
"Thanks! Oh, are you here to order something? If you want I can run it directly to the kitchen and get your order done first because honestly there's a lot of people tonight." You commented with a chuckle somewhat surprised by how many people were there, and you weren't even using your quirk.
"Sure! That would be great actually, thanks Y/n."
"No prob!" You called Celest over and Izuku gave her his order and she got right to it. After that there was a small pause before Izuku spoke again.
"You know you would make a great Hero." He thought out loud. You looked at him somewhat caught off guard by what he said.
"Oh god no, I have nothing against them but I wouldn't be able to deal with all the things they have to do like investigations, reunions, not to mention the working hours they have to complete and sometimes you even have to work on your day off..." You continued rambling on about your reasons but Izuku noticed how you knew so much about hero work. "...and then there's not being able to have that many friends-"
"How do you know so much about heroes?" Izuku interrupted, his curiosity getting the better of him.
"Oh... well," You looked away somewhat embarrassed but hey, everyone talks about their love life at some point right? "I used to go out with heroes a lot, that's all." You tried to play it off casually bit Izuku noticed a keyword you used.
"Used to?"
"Huh? Oh yeah, I don't plan on going out with heroes anymore, it just gets so complicated sometimes because of their job." Izuku felt himself tense up.
"R-Right, it's is pretty complicated having a relationship with a he-hero..." He chuckled awkwardly before taking a sip from his coffee. Celest walked over to you two and settled Izuku's brown bag on the table.
"Here ya go!" She said with a bright smile.
"Thanks, do you take Visa?"
"Course!" She took out her POS from the pocket of her black apron. She took Izuku's card in her hand and started the process. "Oh, and Y/n, they requested the song 'Something Human' by Muse but the acoustic version." Celest handed over the device for Izuku's pin number while you stood up.
"Guess that's my cue, see you around Izuku, it was nice talking to you again." You gave him a playful wink and walked back to the stage. He let out a thoughtful sigh as you left.
"So, #1 Hero huh?" Celest piped up. Izuku was startled and almost dropped the device.
"Y-Yeah..." He handed over the POS in slight embarrassment.
"Don't worry, I won't tell." She let the receipt print out than ripped it out and gave it to him. "But do you plan on telling her?"
"I don't know..." He let out a sigh as he turned his attention back to you on the stage. "It's kinda complicated..."
"It's best to get it out of the way before things get really complicated," Celest advised. "See ya around." She waved and headed to the next customer.
Izuku watched how you were having so much fun on stage, not having to worry about trivial things like villains attacking and such, and he wanted it to stay that way.
He grabbed his bag and headed for the door, but just before he opened it he looked back one more time but you were already looking at him. He felt a blush crawl up his face and waved shyly before pulling on the push door and frantically pulled but then he noticed the push sign.
You watched his little embarrassing moment and couldn't help but chuckle while singing. You gave him a small wave before he left and got back to singing.
-
"Another robbery on 8th street, bystanders state that-" You pressed the off button on the T.V.
"Looks like there more villains roaming around." Commented Celest as she wiped down a table with a cloth.
"Yeah, seems like it." You said with a shrug. "Need help?" You offered taking a cloth as well. Celest nodded with a soft smile.
"So... Broccoli boy huh?" She tried to spark up another conversation but didn't look at you as she cleaned.
"What? Oh, you mean Izuku? Yeah, he's a good guy." You said casually.
"Just a good guy?" You could hear the smile in Celest's voice and you rolled your eyes playfully.
"Yeah, just a good guy." You repeated.
"He took you home that day right?" She added as she finished stacking chairs.
"Yeah..." You stepped aside as she began to mop the floor.
"Did you invite him for coffee?" She paused for a second to look at you while you fiddled with the hem of your shirt.
"Maybe..." Was all you could think of saying.
"I knew it!" She shouted all of a sudden making you jump from her outburst. "Some of your more serious relationships always start off like that." She twirled around loving the Idea of falling in love.
"So what?" You let out a sigh. "They also ended up badly." You added sourly.
"Y/n..." Celest walked over to you and held your hands in hers. "I think this time it's gonna be different." She had a sincere smile on her face as she spoke. You let out a small chuckle and carefully removed her hands.
"I'm not so sure about that." You made your way to the back of the counter to gather your things. "So far he seems like a nice guy." You hulled your side bag over your shoulder. "But that doesn't mean that he can't be completely different from what I've seen so far."
"You have no idea..." Celest muttered.
"Huh?"
"I'm just saying you should give it a try, he might just surprise you." She gave you a playful wink.
"Thanks for the love advice Celest but I should get going. See you tomorrow." You waved goodbye just as your friend did and made your way home.
Well, at least he's not a hero.
