Gauri packed her overnight bag with a newfound determination. She had been at her wit's end trying to make head and tail of her husband's weird behavior when her wisest friend asked her to give him a whiplash.

After the night at the hospital, Omkara suddenly became so busy with work that he hardly came home before she was awake. It was seven nights ago that he first fled from her saying he had to make a call returned an hour back looking aged by years. When asked, he told her that the deadline for his next project was pushed forward.

Their relationship never needed words to convey each other's feelings. Even though he did not tell it in words, she could see that something was clearly disturbing him which for some unknown reason he did not tell her.

She tried to understand and had been waiting for him to open up when he angered her by distancing himself. She asked her mother in law of the same, who to her surprise sided with her son. Jhanvi only assured her that Omkara would have talked to her if the matter was important.

Phone conversation with her husband were minimized to minutes of small talks in which he would give her a new case every day to come late to the mansion.

Though everything appeared normal on the outside, her gut instinct told her that things were not as okay as they looked like.

She was confused as to how to brooch the subject when Taadaka called her that afternoon.

Gauri smiled as she remembered how the conversation went from a pleasant exchange of greetings to a full on plan to get Omkara to talk.

"You have waited enough," said the elder one in a reprimanding tone.

"There is a reason why your husband is being a scaredy cat Gauri. I can guess what is disturbing him but I want him to be the one to tell you all about it. It is about time he came out of his shell."

"But Daadi ji, even Jhanvi maa told me that..."

"Like mother, like son," Taadaka cut her off.

"Is it that bad daadi ji?" she asked hesitantly. "Surely, if it is that big a secret that..."

"However bad it is, I know you will be with your husband no matter what. So, it shouldn't bother you. Just wait for him to speak the truth while you urge him in the right direction."

"I hope he will not think that I am not bothered about his privacy. I tried to hold back but..."

"You are not wrong in wanting to know Gauri. Just stay put. Are you sure he will not be able to sleep?"

Gauri nodded her head thinking of the times she found herself engulfed in her husband's arms whenever she woke up in the mid of the night. Even when in a deep sleep, he hugs her as if she would be snatched away from him if he didn't hold her.

"Hello?" she heard Taadaka speak and replied with a yes.

"Good, then he will come. Just do as I say," she said and Gauri followed her instructions in the exact order as told.

"When are you implementing the plan Ajay? Don't you think it is about time?"

"It isn't that easy Svetlana madam. Gauri isn't the one to fall for my charms. You said it should look natural."

"Then think of something else. I just want the pictures or video whatever you can manage."

"Don't worry, Omkara's heart is sure to break. I am just waiting for the right chance. It shouldn't appear staged."

"Good, I am trusting you on this. I will pay you only after the work is done. Let me know if you need help," Svetlana instructed and ended the call hearing a dutiful okay.

Next, she called her uncle.

"Ajay is going to take some time," she said and heard a groan from the other end of the line.

"Sweety, I can see men following me around. I am sure Shivaay must be behind it," Girish said in irritation.

"What? The police couldn't arrest you then why..."

"I got away saying that I lost my phone and somebody else must have used it to contact you. Good that I bribed the inspector to get me a printout of the complaint of somedays before. Otherwise, they would have arrested me on the basis of call records."

"I told you to be careful with Sahil's kidnap thing. Just one small mistake and it is costing us sweety. It is difficult to be on constant check," he chided her.

Svetlana sighed helplessly.

"That Karan..." she started but was cut off by Girish Goenka.

"No use in blaming someone else. Now be very careful when Ajay executes his plan. No one should know that you are behind it. Omkara will never believe it if he knows it."

"I know, I will take all precautions not to get involved in this. Let us hope that Ajay will make Omkara believe that Gauri is not what he thinks her to be. The cute innocent chirayya should be shown as a cheating wife in as believable way as can be."

"Right, only then can Gauri be useful to us. A vengeful woman can do wonders," he said with a laugh and Svetlana joined the laughter.

"Didn't you get anything on that Goenka, Shivaay? He doesn't appear as innocent as he acts," Omkara asked his brother on phone.

The big brother has been waiting for him to tell Omkara about the developments of the Kalyani mills fiasco since days. Since he could not have the discussion at home owing to his brother's odd timings, he took a visit to his studio.

"Bhavya said she is observing the man. We cannot do anything but wait Om," replied Shivaay.

Omkara nodded his head and sat silently, his mind going through the information again.

"So, until when are you going to follow this untidy routine?" Shivaay asked, looking around the place.

The makeshift bed was not made properly, used clothes scattered all round and paper packets of take away foods lying in one corner.

"No, actually did you have a bath?" Shivaay revised his question.

"Shut up Shivaay."

"What else do I tell you? You look pathetic."

"I cannot come home and then lie to Gauri."

"Then don't Om."

"I don't want to tell her the truth either."

"You don't need to tell her. One look at your dark circles and unkempt self, she will know that there is something terribly wrong with you."

"More reason to not meet her."

Shivaay sighed and shook his head as he looked at his watch.

"I should go home. Anika must be waiting for me."

"Home? Won't you pick up Gauri from college?"

Shivaay stared at his brother for a while before he raised his eyebrows.

"Wait, she didn't tell you?"

"Tell what?" Omkara sat straight in attention.

"Gauri said she will stay at Mithila's house today."

"What? Why?" Omkara frowned at his brother.

"It seems Mr. Agarwal is out of town again and since Mithila decided to stay with Himani in her hostel for a few days, Gauri offered that she would stay with the kids."

"What exactly does that Agarwal do that he never stays home?" Omkara asked in irritation.

Shivaay smiled and quipped, "May be he is an artist too or he found the ultimate way to escape his wife and kids."

"Shivaay, ask her not to go. You know I hardly had any sleep the last few days. I won't even have that if I don't have her beside me for those few hours when I come home."

"On what grounds?"

"As if you cannot make up an excuse."

"I can, but I won't. Sorry, but you will have to deal with your wife. Bye," said Shivaay before swiftly making an exit from the room, not hearing to his brother's protests.

Omkara groaned before he began looking for his phone in the mess of a room.

Once he dialed his wife's number, he patiently waited for her to answer.

"Hello?" he heard his wife's voice from the other end.

"Gauri, Shivaay told me that you will stay at your friends house," he asked in a not so happy tone.

"Yes Omkara ji. I was to call you but I thought of not disturbing you. You are busy right? You called me to tell me that you will get late today, didn't you?"

"No, I am going home now and I will pick you up in an hour or two. Be ready," he ordered.

"But...."

Her words were cut off when the line went dead.

********************************************************************************

True to his word, an hour and a half later, Omkara who took time to shower and look presentable pressed on the doorbell of Agarwal mansion.

A minute later, a uniformed staff member welcomed him and showed him the living room.

"Ask Gauri to come down," Omkara told the house help.

"Diya madam said that Gauri madam has to stay with them. She asked you to stay here if possible."

Omkara took a long deep breath to calm himself down. He knew the little girl ought to create a problem like this. Composing himself, he asked in a calm tone.

"Where is your Diya madam?"

"Upstairs sir, I will show you to the room," came the trained reply.

Even before he opened Omkara could hear the laughter coming from inside the room. On any other day he would have happily joined them but after three days of tiredness, all he wanted was to hug his wife and sleep in peace.

Something which might be difficult to achieve with a stubborn little imp who seemed to adore his love more than him.

"Hi Om," Diya was the first to greet him.

Omkara looked at his wife who lifted her head from the two year old Akhil Agarwal to spare him a glance before she resumed to play with the boy.

"Come on in," he heard the little girl speak again.

Nodding to the staff who showed him the way, he entered the room, closing the door behind him.

Walking slowly, all the time his gaze fixed on his beauty who ignored him, he reached the bed on which the three were seated.

"I came to take Gauri with me Diya, please don't make this difficult," he asked with all the nicety he could muster.

Only one thing could deter the girl's stubbornness and that is being gentle to her. Luckily for him, Diya was in a good mood.

She at once looked at her Gauri as if asking for permission and was gestured a no.

Omkara who watched the exchange frowned in confusion.

"Gauri?" he called her attention.

"I cannot leave them alone Omkara ji. I will have to stay here," she told him.

The boy in her lap who recognized Gauri's husband smiled at him and began calling "O..."

Omkara smiled at the kid who was jumping in his wife's lap. He took a seat beside her and gave him a hand.

Akhil grasped the big hand given to him with both of his little ones and shook it with a grin.

Omkara chuckled and lifted the boy to make him sit with him while Gauri's heart began to melt at the soft sight.

How good he was with children... she thought with a soft smile as she continued to watch her husband cooing with the little boy.

"I called Mithila on my way here. The nanny is coming," he informed, bringing her back to reality.

"But I promised that I will stay with Diya and Akki... hai na akki..." she asked Akhil with a baby voice.

The little one nodded his head as if understanding and she smiled at him.

"My brother is so intelligent Gauri, he understands you already," Diya clapped in wonder.

"Aww le mela bacha..." Gauri cooed kissing the boy's cheeks.

Why am I not that lucky... Omkara began to sulk.

"You can stay with us Om, we have many rooms in the mansion," Diya offered.

"Gauri please..." he began but was cut off.

"They need me," his wife said in a strict tone and then went on to caress the little boy.

Omkara took one last chance.

As she was setting Akhil's hair who sat in Omkara's lap, her husband caught her hand and whispered.

"I need you more."

Gauri gazed into his pleading eyes for a second or two before she looked away from them.

"Are you going?" Diya asked loudly.

Even before his wife could answer, Omkara spoke out.

"She will if you ask her to go with me Diya. She loves you too much not to listen to you."

"What's in it for me?" the girl asked getting a glare from her mother's friend.

"Diya.. what are you.."Gauri began.

"A brand new game station with your favorite games downloaded in it," Omkara goaded and got a goofy grin.

"Done deal," Diya nodded her head and ordered Gauri.

"Go with him."

"Diya...."

"Don't you love me Gauri?" the girl gasped dramatically and Omkara smirked.

"Yeah, seems like it," he said.

Diya made a cute pout before urging the wife to go with her husband.

While Gauri looked between the two, Akhil sided with his sister.

"Go.. go," he mumbled his coaxing, trying to reach her cheek with his little hand.

When Gauri gave a resigned sigh, Omkara thanked luck for being on his side for at least once.
