Chapter 5: Locked In
I sat there staring Amanda down as she handed me a REAL glass of wine. I swirled it around the glass, making sure nothing was in it. It was just regular wine.
Amanda sat down next to me and took a sip. She let out a sigh before facing me. She was still smiling and I scooted away from her a bit. I brought the glass up to my mouth but waited a second before taking a sip. I set it down on the coffee table.
"You're going to want more. Make sure you lock your door tonight as well." Amanda gulped down a whole bunch of her wine and set the glass down, only leaving a bit left.
"But why. What do you mean by visitors." Amanda stood up and faced me. Her expression suddenly became cold and she looked straight into my eyes.
"Abby wants her daughter to make some friends." I looked away from Amanda's blundering glare, and when I looked back she was gone. I sat there in shock.
She was gone, she just disappeared. I fell back on my bed and let out a groan. I had to be prepared for tonight.
I pondered what Amanda said. I knew Abby's daughter loved Hide and Seek, but there was no way we were having a game here. The only places we had the demented game was at Harmon's house.
Helena walked in with one bag from Forever 21. I gave her a weird glare and she laughed.
"Mind I spend the night?" She pulled the contents out of the bag. Two onesies. Adult... sized... onesies. She threw me the pink one with pizza on it.
"A... sleep over. Really Helena?" She laughed again and set the bag by the coffee table. She looked up and gave me concerning glare.
"I was gone for five minutes. Two glasses of wine?" I opened my eyes and realized Amanda's glass was still there.
"Oh no. Someone... a neighbor came by. She drank hers, the fuller one is mine." Helena nodded and sat next to me, grabbing and taking a sip of my wine.
"What did you guys talk about?" She asked, handing me the wine.
"Well... she apparently doesn't exist. But she's human, she looks like one, acts like one. She isn't transparent and she is physical. She gave me wine and drank her own!" I blurted out, this time taking a gulp of wine. I really wanted to get drunk and forget all of this.
"She-she talked about something about tonight. She said how I should get drunk, and that I'd want to be sleeping well tonight... because there would be 'visitors'" Helena stood up and grabbed her own glass and started to pour wine in it.
"Did she say what visitors?" She asked, taking a sip.
I took another few gulps before setting the empty glass down. I looked up at her.
"All she said was 'Abby wants her daughter to make new friends' and that was all. She disappeared and was gone." Helena took another sip before grabbing my hands and pulling me off of the bed.
"Now now, we can get drunk. If you want all this to go away, go ahead. I will too. We want to be safe tonight." We engulfed in a hug.
Next thing I knew I locked the doors and turned the stereo on. I shifted through some junk until I found a table disco ball. I plugged it in, turned off the lights, and we cranked the music up.
As we danced I heard a knock on the door and I opened it to Jasper. He held a warm smile and handed him some boos(beer). I thanked him and closed the door.
We danced and messed around as we took swigs of cans of beer. I grabbed my phone and turned on snap chat, taking a video of Helena laughing and taking a shot. With her face hidden, I wrote "It's lit!! Glad to be home." with a kissing face and a winking, tongue out emoji. I posted it on my story and, being drunk, sent it to Violet. My mind was racing and I guess I wanted to make her mad.
I laughed and Helena grabbed her phone. I giggled and ran up next to her, and we put the bunny filter on. We puckered our lips and held up our cans, and Helena snapped a photo and posted it on her story after putting a kissing face emoji on it.
After more dancing I feel asleep next to Helena, her warmth soothing me into a deep sleep.
~*~*~*~*~
I heard Helena mumbling in her sleep as her arm was wrapped around me and she was laying behind me. I smiled... until my head started to pound. Hard.
I groaned and held my head with my right hand. I gently moved Helena's arm with my left, and she grabbed the covers and flipped over, leaving me with nothing.
I sighed and got up to find some Advil. I walked into the bathroom and turned the light on when I heard giggling. I looked around, but no one was there.
I opened the cabinet when I heard the giggling again. I shook my head, I must have been hallucinating. But then I heard a voice, it was Abby's!
She whispered, "Go hide, and don't come out until the lights turn on." Abby's voice was eery, but also worried. I heard the giggling again, then shushing.
It was quiet. I shook it off and grabbed the Advil. I was about to open it when I heard a loud thud and light, muffled screaming from downstairs.
I opened my eyes wide as I heard the little girl. "Mommy Mommy! I won!"
Then Abby's voice, whispering again. "Not yet. Just stay where you were before, and not a sound."
Then it was quiet again. Downstairs, it sounded like a million people were scrambling around. Then it stopped suddenly.
After a few seconds, the scrambling started again. There was some banging, then a louder, but quiet one. It was silent again. There was a loud screaming sob, for a while, but it gradually got quieter.
I couldn't understand what was going on, but I was going to check it out. I skipped the Advil and went to go wake Helena up.
She mumbled and shifted around until I grabbed her arm and dragged her out of the bed. I dragged her to the door, but I stopped when I saw a little girl.
She looked just like Abby, just longer hair. She was so cute. She looked up at me, and I saw the was a large stab wound in her head.
"Please don't go down there." The little girl whimpered. "I don't want you to get hurt. Mommy said it was bad to get hurt. I think I got hurt..." The girl sniffled.
"I'm sorry, honey," I muttered, and I stumbled past her out the door.
"YOU'RE MAKING A MISTAKE!" The girl screamed, her voice cracking. I could hear her sobbing as I walked to the doors. Helena was now awake, but she was just following me, holding her head.
I took in a deep breath before pushing the doors open. It was a long hallway and was dimly lit. I walked down, and I could hear sobbing coming from around a corner I could see. I stopped and held my breath.
It was Abby. She was sobbing. I could hear soothing shushing, and it sounded familiar.
Abby choked. "M-my baby! Sh-she di-died because of y-you!! I th-thought you said she was-wasn't going t-to die!! H-how could I-I trust you!" Abby let out an ear deafening scream/sob and I could hear her fall onto the floor.
Then I heard a familiar voice... Mr. Harmon.
"Sweety. She will live Abby, do you really think I want my grandchild to die?? And to do that to you. The game will continue. You won't die, I promise. Alexia is in the hands of a good friend. He will bring her back. The winner, they won't live. They will be sacrificed so that Alexia will be brought back. I promise you, Abby."
I let out a too-loud gasp and turned, running back up the stairs. The little girl was standing there, staring at me. I tugged at the handles, but the doors wouldn't budge.
"I told you not to come down here..." the little girl said in a dark, deep voice. It sounded satanic, and her eyes were white. The stab wound on her head was a lot bigger now, and I could see something moving inside.
Looking closer, I saw they were magets. I cringed and she grabbed my wrist. She had a strong hold for a little kid. I turned and Abby, red-faced, and Mr. Harmon stood there, staring at me and Helena.
I faced the little girl again. In that same, dark voice, she said.
"You must play the game. There is no way out, you are locked in."
Suddenly I blacked out. When I woke up, I was in a dark room.
It was another game of Hide and Seek.
