I felt something sink deep into the back of my thigh and twist around. I could feel my muscle tear apart, and I collapsed.

Jasper stared down at me horrified, Harmon behind him, his bony hand wrapped around his neck. Harmon was translucent but look the same.

I looked behind me to see Helena on the ground and Bri frozen in place. Helena was unconscience and something was standing behind her.

It was Maldania.

She was in her shadow form, and she hissed happily. In her hand were three shiny rings.

"You'll never win," Cheyanne's words ringed in my head. She wasn't kidding. There was no way we could win. Not with all the shadows and Mr. Harmon.

I tried to stand back up but I collapsed. Bri was holding a knife in her hand and staring at me, mouthing "I'm so sorry." over and over again.

I realized what was happening. Helena was dying, Bri was being controlled, Jessica was dead, and I was lying on the carpeted floor, my blood slowing staining the rug. We were dying. Jasper was about to be killed. It was over.

"Emily, it was fun while it lasted!" Maldania giddily hissed. Harmon laughed and Jasper let out a shaky breath.

Brianne all of a sudden started choking. She gagged on the air and clawed at her neck as if she was being choked. Her eyes rolled to the back of her head, and she collapsed on the ground, slowly breathing.

Soon she let out one last breath and fell limp.

I felt a tear fall down my cheek. We're all going to die. We're going to lose.

I took one last shaky breath before letting my eyes flutter closed. Jasper screamed my name.

Then all went dark.
