26 Fifteen Years Later

The caravan drives on the hwy signaling to the right towards the sign directing to Grass Valley California. In the car Kaemon and his wife Yema work as a team navigating the quickest route to their vacation cabin located at one of the many foothill lakes. His two young daughter's Tyana and Calley sit in the back fussing and whining to get there.

" Dad can't you drive any faster? I want to so bad be swimming on the lake." Tyana asked.

" Jeeze Tyana, just be patient. I know its not fun sitting in the back seat with your older sister." he reponded calmly.

Tyana rolls her eyes prodding her older sister Calley in the side. She playfully slaps her sister hand chuckling in laughter.

" Gosh I kinda wish I was ten again" Calley sadly said.

Yema interrupts with, " Why would you wish to be ten again? Being a forteen year old is a great age to be"

Calley shrugs her shoulders complaining about missing her boyfriend to hang out with driving everyone in the van annoyed. Calley eventually stops putting her ear phones on ignoring her sister and parents looking out the window. Tyana plays on her ipad to keep busy from being bored. Kaemon focuses on the road listening to Yema direct which hwy or road to turn on. They finally park beside the lake cabin. The girls jump out running towards the shore of the lake playing with the sand and water. Kaemon and Yema haul the last bit of luggage into the cold cabin. She opens the windows to flush out the cold air out. Kaemon lies on the bed stretching his legs and neck from the long nine hour drive from Los Angeles. Yema joins him listening to the trees and girls outside having a fun time. Tyana barges in toppling on her dad wrestling him on the bed. Calley leans on the door frame chuckling at her sister and dad play fighting on the bed. Yema rolls off  gesturing to Calley to wait in the hallway so she can get ready for joing her on the beach. Calley and Yema lie on the lake shore beach tanning in the sun while Kaemon and Tyana swim in the crystal clear water.

" Mom, dad doesn't talk about why he moved up in the foothills, but left for no reason? Can you tell me anything about his experience?" Calley asked turning her head facing Yema.

Yema frowns thinking of what to say and responds, " Well honey, he doesn't even tell me of what happened. The only times that I can tell you since your old enough to understand is a couple phone conversations. So one time when he called me from his tiny house up here saying how beautiful the scenery is and basic normal stuff. He told me on the side he met a young lady named Alysa who seemed very nice and polite to him. He mentioned meeting her friend Helen who was also nice and respectful. He didn't explain anymore, but it doesn't hurt to ask him and maybe he'll tell you bits and pieces."

Calley whines begging her mom to tell her more.

" Will we beable to visit down town and possibly his old piece of property he owned mom?" She asked.

"I don't see why not love bug" She said in a motherly tone.

Calley peels her layers of shorts and shirt off jumping into the water joining her dad and sister. Tyana swims over splashing water at Calley who pulled her underwater for a playful pay back. Kaemon dunks into the water wrapping his arms around Calley's chest. She trys to pull away from her fathers grasp, but unsuccessfully escapes relaxing her muscles.

" Dad can we talk later today?" Calley asked.

He frowned responding with a " Sure".

Hours pass by throughout the summer day. The sunset begins making the sky orange, pink, purple and red colors. The lake water becomes a pot of colors reflecting from the bright sky. Kaemon pulls Calley aside into his bedroom landing on the bed sighing of relief off his feet. Calley cocked her head to the side watching her dad wait for her to speak.

"Um...What?"

" Calley, didn't you want to ask me something?" He smirks rolling lint off his fingers.

Calley sits on the end of the bed beginning to speak.

"I wanted to ask about your time up here because mom said you keep it to yourself. I don't want the whole story, but give me some idea at least." She shyly asked.

Kaemon stares at the window pondering sitting up rolling his neck to side to side. A long pause between them happens and Calley starts to leave the room.

"Wait" he gets up grabbing her wrist." he said "I can tell you some of my experience since you asked"

" I would like mom to hear too" she crys.

" No, I want this conversation between you and me ok?" He replied.

Calley uggs agreeing to close the door landing on the bed.

He unzips his duffle bag pulling out a polished silver necklace attached to a beautiful blue rock. Holding in his hands the necklace dangles infront of him showing Calley his necklace.

She grabs the necklace from his hands examining the piece of jewelry in awe.
" Wow, where did you get this?" She asked in curiosity.
" Well, the necklace I've had for around twenty years. The blue agate represents my favorite color and reminder of my past both good or unfortunate. Also the necklace was handled by different individuals I believe while I shortly lived up here."
" Wait the scar marks on your wrists and back have some cause right?" Calley asked shyly.
" Yes the scars pertained to the necklace partly but not that's not the point" He replies.
Kaemon stops speaking for a moment not sure how to answer all to his daughters questions at once.
" Since you know about the necklace I want to tell you for a fact to never meet or even consider dealing with a racist because that's what I didn't know at the time stepped into. A person may seem like a nice human, but on the inside they could be a Nazis or negative soul inside. If anyone calls you a Niger or slave do not I mean don't give in and feel weak. I was somewhat a scared worried individual who was taken advantage of. I would never want you to experience what I had learned the hard way. Please for me do not mention anything about our conversation to your sister. She is the last person to hear any of this." he sternly said.
Calley nodded in agreement to her father's words.
He stands up brushing his clothing off saying, " So since its late I would like you to be in bed because tomorrow we'll check the town out and have fun. Sounds good?" he asked.
" Yea, that is a good plan dad" she replied.

The morning was a warm comfortable temperature beginning the day off driving into town. Yema drove first listening to Kaemon's tour of the whole area of the town. Calley started noticing the difference from the city she grew up in to a completely different world. On every turn rows of trees covered the land and little patches of meadows tucked in the corners. An old rusted car rotting on a forested property is easily seen from the road part. Tyana yells out," There are so many trees and animals!"
Calley chuckles at her little sisters remark looking out with the window cracked open. Her interest in the sorrounding area is nothing like the large smog city of Los Angeles. The air is much more cleaner and fresh. Kaemon sees the near by park willing to stretch and take a stroll around the parks concrete path. The birds chirp and sing in the background while the foot steps crunch the cement path. Calley sees a group of people and kids playing in the play ground happy and joyful. A girl around her age sits on the park bench staring down on her phone. Another few chicks with a couple boys messing with each other on the sand distracting themselves. Calley isn't the type to socialize besides her intimate love with her boyfriend. A dreamy look gazes her face until Tyana interrupts her state of mind.

" Hey sis, dad told me we can go ahead, but not too far so he can see us." She insisted.

Calley says" Sure" and both girls race ahead of Kaemon and Yema slowing down enough to look back to still see them. Calley's heart races bending down breaking a quick sweat.

" Are you tired sis? I guess your a slow person"  Tyana teases.

" Hey, stop your dirty mouth. How about how small and delegate you are like glass" She teases back.

Two girls and a teen boy walk by bumping into little Tyana.

" Oh I'm so sorry" he said pulling Tyana up.

Calley says, " It wasn't your fault man"

"What's your name?" He asked her.

Calley qivers her lips not sure what to answer.

" I'm Calley and my sister Tyana" she quickly replied.

He shakes her hand introducing himself, " I'm Ryan with my younger sister's Kelly and Ellen. Are you guys from here or a local?"

Calley repsonds " Nice to meet you and we are actually from Los Angeles."

" Ooh, I love L.A. by the way. Well I guess your sister is already becoming friends with Ellen I see" Ryan replied seeing the banter between Ellen and Tyana.

Calley trys to get Tyana's attention, but her and Ellen run off far enough that she runs after them. Ryan and Kelly follow Calley anyway for an activity to do. Calley catches up after them swinging in the shaped octogon bars.

" Tyana!" She yells. " Come back here!"

Her sister chuckles yelling " Aren't you the one to tell our parents!"

Calley groans walking over to drag her sister, but a slap on the hand was the result.

" Stop it sis!" Tyana spits back at her older sister.

Ryan steps in pushing Calley back.

" Jeeze girl, your parents can still see you" He said pointing a far distance at the two parents.

" Where are your parents?" She asked him.

" Um...I am watching my sister's, but they are close by. Do you want to meet them?" he replied.

" Sure" Calley responded walking with Ryan.

Calley sees her sister interacting with Ellen like two peas in a pod while following them. Two fairly fit adults lie on a blanket touching the green grass. The woman had medium cut hair with white skin leaning on a muscular black short haired man with a rose tattoo on his arm. Ryan awakens his parents who open their eyes to see two stranger girls staring at them.

" Who are these girls Ryan?" his father asked.

"Oh dad this is Calley and Kyana" he answered.

Calley and Kyana smile back at the two adults.

Ellen excitedly yells " I made a new friend daddy!" showing Tyana blush.

Calley sees from the corner of her eye dad and mom striding causually on the side walk.

" Um...Tyana we need to let our parents know were ok" She suggests whispering into her ear.

Tyana shrugs linking hands with her sister.

" You guys can go, and nice meeting you" Ryan said.

"Wait!" Ellen crys before Tyana leaves. " Can I meet your parents?"

" I don't know?" Tyana shyly said.

" Why not since Ellen seems like she would like to see Tyana again" Ryan interjected.

Calley rolls her eyes getting her parents over to the group. Kaemon from a few feet recognizes the face he knows very well.

" I'm sorry Calley, but your mother can meet them. I am just not in the mood to meet anybody" he sadly said.

Yema groans rolling her eye's walking with Calley over to the parents.

Yema reaches a hand to the dad introducing herself, " Hi I'm Yema Calley and Tyana's parents"

" Nice to meet you" Ellen's father responded.

" Wait don't you have a father?" Ellen softly asked Tyana.

" Yea, but he isn't here" Tyana answered Ellen.

Ryan frowns at the response and says " Calley I just saw your dad a few minutes ago if that was him"

The mother abruptly asked Yema, " That name rings a memory in my head? I may be wrong here, but do you have a friend named Kaemon?"

Yema answers, " Yes actually, but why?"

The two parents look at eachother communicating silently and the father askes, " Is he here with you?"

" Um...yes he is? why are you wanting to meet him?" Yema asked with concern.

" Well I met him when he was living up here, so I guess he didn't tell you. By the way my name is Laken and my wife Tirzah." he said.

Yema says " hold on he's around the corner so sorry for the embarassment." while she runs across the park pulling him by the arm hard.

" What? Why are you pulling me?" He urgently said.

No reponse from Yema dragging his ass to his children congregating with a group of kids and two parents. He sees Laken and Tirzah noticing his person approaching beside Yema. He begins to get a inner modive to escape the interaction.
" I cannot speak to those messed up people." He nervously said to Yema.

" Face your fear Kaemon, you had all these years to avoid the past I never knew about you." She angrily said.

Kaemon makes eye contact with Laken's and a chill runs down his back instantly. All the kids see him and doesn't speak first.

" Well, haven't seen you in awhile. I heard your wife has no idea about me." Laken said directly to Kaemon.

Kaemon rolls his shoulder answering, " Yea, I guess so. I really don't want to bring up anything, so nice to see you and girls lets get going"

Laken puts a shoulder bringing him to the side, but Kaemon steps away trying to keep his temper at bay.

" I know you.." he said partly.

" Do not tell me anything Laken. I cannot believe we would meet again years later which I regret even coming back up here. Are we done here?" He angrily said.

Laken sighs not sure what to say leaning on a near by tree.

" I can tell you what happened that night you always wanted to know" Laken calmly said.

Kaemon in a stern tone says, " I'm over it bro, so I would perfer you not stir things up infront of my wife or kids of my horrible heart renching experience. And no your daughter will not be with mine period"

Laken walks to the side telling Kaemon, " So you wouldn't want to have closure on something deep down you really want to know? I doubt you wouldn't want to purposly make your daughter upset if she couldn't see Ellen again righ?

Kaemon clenches his jaw showing stress and angry bubbling up inside him like hot oil ready to burst. He glances over at Tyana and Ellen loving eachother like sisters and looks straight into Laken's eyes not sure if its worth it.

"  Fine Laken you win this time, but the only rule is to not, I mean not touch my wife or daughters. Secondly if you ever bring up what you caused in the time I was here you will pay dearly. If even Alysa shows up then I am done with you" he seriously said.

Laken raises his hands saying, " She is long gone Kaemon. If you really want to know she commited suicide because of a dark entity. I promise not to touch your beautiful daughters or wife so deal?"

Kaemon nods agreeing and both men turn walking towards the group. Kaemon stands beside his wife whispering into her ear, " we talked and its all good." Yema understands and tells the girls to go to the car with her to give him space.

Kaemon strides away from the group following the girls to the van. Yema finds him joining her in the van with the kids. She examines the local map suggesting, " Well since we have about four hours before meeting up with them at a restraunt well..."

" Wait...wait slow down Yema, why are we meeting them at a restraunt?"

She sighs, " I talked to Tirzah while you men were talking and made a plan to meet up at the steak house so we all can get to know them better"

Kaemon ughs leaning back in the passengers seat. Calley asks why dad isn't fond of having dinner with them and Yema gives the que of not asking anymore questions.

Yema drives around discovering new places around to to drive by to kill time. It was around four quarter to five which means meeting the family at the restraunt soon. She parks on the street wearing her nice clothes and jewelry. Kaemon wears his necklace that his daughter begged him to wear out tonight. The gang of four walk across the street into the brick building by the river. Yema spots Tirzah sitting at a round table with Laken and their three kids. Yema pulls Kaemon along with her arriving at the large nine seat table. Yema sits across Tirzah starting to get to know eachother while Calley and Ryan sit beside exchanging social media accounts. For Kelly and Ellen they congregate around Tyana small talking about animals. At the far end of the table Kaemon sits across from Laken who is a year older than Kaemon, but looks younger oddly enough.  Kaemon trys to put off his uncomfortable feeling seeing right across from him the man who caused the scars on his wrists and back in a painful manner.

Laken breaks the silence between him and Kaemon, " So since the kids are distracted I'll tell you what happened to you that night even if you don't want to hear it or not. I'm asking for not a arguement to start up between us, but I need to get it off my own chest to you. I'll begin by starting after you blacked out. Once you were out I dragged your body to the arm chair. Alysa was begging me not to do it, but I tore your shirt off your body and made the marking from using a bottle of tequila a saying you told me when you were drunk that " my name is tequila". Also you told me the drug deals you completed to earn money for college and purchasing property up here. I won't turn you in because I like you. Anyway back to the story, so after I poured the words on your shirt I didn't expect Alysa to go ballistic on me yelling curse words that I should not slice a sharp knife into your shoulder because of her own reasons. I still made a minor prick into your shoulder drawing a couple drops of blood onto a piece of cloth to use for a ritual. I and the guys proceeded while Alysa was kicked out of the bar for safety measures. Since you mentioned that a negative energy attached itself to you after meeting a dark drug dealer and wanted to be released from that specific attachment. I used your little sample of blood to somehow attract the dark spirit out and then seal you with holy water and positive energy. I was the one who successfully held the ritual, but once Alysa was allowed in her energy was reattracting the spirit. She was trying to get to you, but I told Drake and Angelo to keep her at distance. That was her last straw and yelled racial words to me and you which ended my friendship for good. The only thing I regret is striping you and stupidly after the ritual kicking and hitting you like a punching bag. I believe that was the anger built up in me after Alysa's reaction you were the easiest target. I am so sorry, but right now I feel lighter just by telling you. Do you have any questions for me Kaemon?"
Kaemon digests the long story Laken told him about that night rubbing his palms.
" I....I do not Laken, I just can't believe what actually happened knowing fifteen years later for this moment to come. I would not be saying this, but thank you for telling me. It really changed my view point just now about Alysa. She seemed so nice, but to break the glass that night I believe it was meant to be. Only one thing that I still malice over is my wrists and back being perminantly scared, but I guess we'll be friends right?"
Laken smirks saying," Of course my friend"
