25 Cherish
In the after math of Alysa's morning funeral Helen remembers Laken's face listening to the pastor from the back of the room. She picks her phone up from the night stand texting him saying " Why were you at the funeral?". An instant response comes back," Yes I was and why are you reconnecting with me?" he asked.
Helen's palms sweat like crazy on the bed. She says to herself " should I text him back? No that wouldn't really help. He already knows she is dead so that's kinda of good."
She decides to drop her phone back on the night stand and use her laptop finishing an art idea. A brief knock echoes at her front door. She bolts to the door to see Laken standing out on the step. Helen mumbles what to do and cracks the door open slowly.
" Are you scared Helen? I promise I won't bite." he said.
She opens the door asking, " Why are you here Laken? You know Alysa is dead and I hate you by the way"
He smirks at her glancing at the front lawn with a smile.
" Well I wanted to see if your ok? I can tell by your by your face you want me gone for good, but I wouldn't want you to be like Alysa killing herself because of a dark spirit. I'm not saying we're friends I just really don't want to have two individuals die because of the past nighmare ending a few days ago." he calmly said looking into her eyes.
She stutters spitting out, " I...I don't care Laken because why would you come to my best friends funeral who you partly ruined. By the way why would I let a pesky energy persuade me to kill myself? Hm..? I really wish I could tell Kaemon the abuse on that night perminantly damaged her mind. So fuck off and get off of my property right now."
Laken raises his hands in the air stepping back slowly saying, " I will leave, but if you have Kaemon's number..."
She yells back," Absolutely not young man am I giving you Kaemon's number. Alysa would not be happy with that at all if I gave you his number"
Laken turns leaving to his truck at a normal pace. Helen raged as a bull barged into her home accident breaking a valued ceramic vase lying on the floor. Helen uses her broom to clean the mess up groaning in anger. A call rings on Helen's phone showing Garren who couldn't make it to the funeral.
" Hi Hel" he happily said.
" Hey Garren how a going" she asked.
" Well I heard Alysa took her own life and wanted to see how your holding up" he asked in a concerned tone.
Helen sits on her loveseat humming in a mellow melody.
" I am actually holding up well. The only issue is on her will all her stuff is given to me. Her family has been harassing me by either text or phone because none of them get a single item of Alysa's." she sighs.
" Oh gosh Helen that sounds horrible. I can fly up and be a support system. My injury has healed enough so I can travel places. Actually I'm booking a flight right now because I believe you'll appreciate me here with you. Is there anything else I need to know about?" he said.
Helen blushes, " I know Alysa left a personal letter to me before her death. That is only thing left that's new" she replied.
" Alright then I need to start packing my luggage so I'll talk to you later Hel" he said hanging up the phone from his side.
Helen chuckles by herself after listening to Garren's voice on the phone. A brief smell of a tropical fruit makes Helens mouth water and decides to slice up a fresh mango. As she cuts into the mango a subtle shake from her hands happens. She stabilizes her hand successfully slicing a piece of the fruit without cutting one of her petite fingers off. Another sound of her phone vibrates and she answers muting one of Alysa's family members hate calls. Once the number hangs up a huge flush of relief brushes over her. A couple other calls pass through until the name showing Laken's. Helen picks the phone yelling at him through the phone, " I told you not to contact me ever again! I do not care what you need to tell me! Just fucking stop! Do you here what I am saying duck face!"
Laken on the other end mutes his cell phone startled that Helen would unload like a crazy person. He faces Tirzah unmuting the phone still hearing Helen yelling random words like a pile of garbage being verbally thrown back by phone to him. He quietly chuckles listening to Helen do her verbal rant. Tirzah rolls her eyes gesturing to hang the phone up. Him and Tirzah are in his home sipping coffee in the living room. A loud beep silences the phone finally stopping Helens voice from echoing the room. Tirzah laughs, " Gosh babe she was like a pissed off radio host rambling at the microphone without any awareness at all." she humorously said.
" I know honey she is now meaner than ever compared to before. Her intention to become a venomous bitch isn't the greatest transformation. When I met her in high school she was the nerdy type who unfortunately got picked on a lot. That's how I met Alysa later on after school. To have Helen change from a nice pleasant person to who she is today. I believe she will have some backlash from her actions" he replied.
Tirzah nodded her head in agreement closing her eyes for a moment. Laken does the same, but feels his phone vibrate again seeing a text from Quinn and Drake. His skin becomes filled with goosebumps and reopens his eyes to see if the window is open. The two windows are sealed shut and no draft must have blown by. An ice cold temperature sits disturbing Laken's peace causing him to ask out in the air," Who is here with me? Also why are you here bothering my space?"
Tirzah frowns opening her eyes and screams pointing behind Laken a grey cloud hover over his head.
" Laken get closer to me now" she orders.
He walks over and turns to see the cloud being stagnant in place. . The cloud inched closer to them as they moved away from the cloud slowly. No formation was formed or voice responding to Laken's question. His heart races like he went on a marathon overlooking the paranormal event he's experiencing. The cloud forms a person shape figure striding towards them in a faster pace. The grey face touches Laken's affecting his gaze and fear gradually showing from his face. A cold subtle wind chilled Tirzah's skin. Her thoughts race through her head lighting speed a way to escape the cloud of dense smoke. She grabs his wirst and pulls him out of the dense cloud opening the door to the front porch. The cloud stays put as they observe from the window looking into the room. In a quick instant the cloud dissapeared relieving Laken's tense body. He hugs Tirzah tightly.
" I won't let any spirit take you away ever like Alysa. You are the love of my life and we'll stick together through this odd time." He softly said.
Tirzah pulls away stepping back into the wood home feeling the leftover heavy energy filling the place. Laken notices the same feeling getting a box with candles inside to light up the room. He lights the white tall candles around the room for protection against any negative from entering the home.
" I will haunt you" A femine voice whispers into Laken's ears.
He turns to Tirzah shaping a serious look on his face. " Leave now babe. I believe Alysa is in the room and I can handle it on my own." He sternly said.
Tirzah leaves the room peaking through the window to keep watch.
" So Alysa why are you here? Your dead, but I know your buddy wants to ruin me and my fiancee so speak." He humorously said.
" Really? I can make you ill stupid human" She said in a ghostly tone.
He sighs. " Nice try bitch, I demand you to leave and move on. You'll never win staying here"
A transparent person figure stands over him staring straight through him. He steps back pulling his brass necklace cross out saying the lords prayer while the spirit softly laughs.
" I will never dissapear until I make pain run through you" she softly echoed.
" I'll repeat again leave" he yelled back at the figure.
A gust of wind passes by him disrupting her clear figure. Another bright energy entangles squeezing her dark energy out of her. A brief face of dead Conner is seen spirit tackling her out of the place. Laken doesn't see the two energy's collide anymore wiping his forehead with collected sweat. A warm feeling rises in the room with the light shining through the windows creating a safe environment. Tirzah cracks the door open gesturing to Laken for the safe que. She enters the room and in a excited tone says " Wow, the room feels lighter than before. I saw the whole thing so you don't need to explain what occured. Anyway I believe she's not coming back Laken!" Laken kisses her on the forehead and a single ball of light appears. Many sounds of whispers echo throughout the room. The ball speaks in a soft tone reassuring both of them they will be safe and protected always. A warm smile stretches across Tirzah's face watching the ball of light shoot through her body dissapearing completely. Her skin becomes warmer with no goosebumps spreading all over the place. The tension decreases temendously for both of them. In a matter of seconds a sigh release tipping her head back closing the eyes for a brief moment. A moment of shock and awe covers their faces absorbing the whole experience. Laken grabs a couple of beers from the firdge handing one out to Tirzah while walking out on the lake dock. She blushes unsure of what to say about anything. Both say quiet staring out on the water swinging their legs for a distraction.
Laken breaks the silence rambling about what's on his mind." I don't know what to say to really anybody about our paranormal encounter. I felt I already knew Conner would how help us out in spirit form driving Alysa away for good. I believe he did his final deed before leaving this realm. I hope you and myself will never be in the past situations ever again." Tirzah replies with a " yes" trailing her eyes down to the sitting brass cross on the black covered ottoman. A scent of lavender filled the room making a pleasent aroma. In the bedrooms a lighter more vibrant feeling changed the atmosphere completely.
" Gosh I guess this whole journey is finally finished. From the beginning on that night to now seems like years or decades. I learned alot of I think life lessons overall. I wouldn't have expected to see both Conner and Alysa be gone from this freaken planet. It's just amazing how life turns to an unexpected path of new experiences. I probably am boring you Laken, but I can't even grasp the little encounters with Helen to you or anyone. I can't say it enough that I love you to death. I think Conner was right suggesting in my dreams to be with you through thick and thin. The only missing piece is something I think you need to sometime complete in the future." She excitedly replied.
