Chapter Twenty-Seven.
Scott:
Quiet.
That's what it's been like the past five days with Abigail, not saying a single word to me. It was like she was pretending to be mute again, but why would she do that? She's also been acting very strange. It's like every time I kiss her, she forces her way out of my touch. She's becoming distance again.
Today was my brother Jaime first transformation of most of our close family members were here. The first shift is usually easier with another older wolves around. I looked at my fourteen year old brother who was drinking a cup of Russian Smirnoff. He nose kept scrunching up at each sip.
Getting increasingly intoxicated helps it be less painful. But he will have a major headache
I walked up to him and put my hands on his shoulder, leaning down to his height, "Ready for this, Jamie?”
He lazily smiled at me, "Like I have never been ready before. I'll finally be able to run with my brothers.”
"Yup. Last one we'll have to wait is Lena.” I reminded him.
"Must suck.” he said, burping. "Oh crap, sorry. But anyways, being the only girl in the family of mostly boys must suck.” he said. Oh yeah, he defiantly drunk. "I can't wait to see Sophia, she's so perfect.” he said. He frowned, "I miss her, and I miss her so much. I think I'm going to go see her before midnight-".
I held him back, chuckling, "Whoa, Jamie, you just can't show up to her house drunk as all hell like this. You'll see her Monday.”
He shook his head quickly, "No, no, I want to see her now. I want her to be here with me. Let go of me, Scott!”
"No way, man.", I told him. I heard him growl and I chuckled more, "Relax, dude. You think she'll be surprise with your haircut?” I asked. Jamie had this curly skater kind of hair and he'll have to get a haircut cause if he shift with his hair being that long, his fur will be long and it'll be harder to run.
"I told her about getting my haircut.” he said. "She said it'll look hot, then she blush. It was sooooooooo cute. She's like a pixies.” he said, chuckling.
"I bet she is.", I said. "Come on, let’s get you something to eat.”
After forcing my brother to eat a hot dog, I made my way over to be Abigail was. She was sitting by a fire that was sit up with a blanket around her. She didn't want Tyler to come, so we got a babysitter. She didn't like the idea of leaving him alone with a stranger, but my mom talked her into it.
I showed up next to her and she looked up, giving me a small smile. I leaned down next to the chair, "Like my family?” I asked, looking around the much of wolves that were running around or the close families and couple.
She nodded, "Yeah. My father hated his family and he took my mom away from hers. Must be nice to have a close family.”
I got up and lifted her from the chair, sitting down, and sat her down on my lap. She sighed heavily and laid her head down on my shoulder. I ran my hand threw her hair, "It's your family now, Abigail. We'll always take care of you. And Tyler.” I leaned down and kissed her forehead.
"Take care of me.", she said to herself. "I never had anyone to take care of me for a long time.”
"Well now you do.", I said.
After a few moment of watching the watching, enjoying each other company, we heard someone call out my name.
"Scott! Come joining it!” a guy said. I can't really remember his name. We turned our heads to the side and saw a group of wolves-female and male-all in their underwear and girls in their bars and underwear and their mates. "It's time for the usual race.”
"Race?” Abigail questioned.
I chuckled, grinning, "It's were all we wolves chase and hunt down our mates as they run into the woods. It's like tag, with wolves.”
"You would easily find me, wouldn't you?” she asked.
"Actually, no. Since many other humans will be running, I won’t be able to find your scent. Which makes the game fair. You all have a five minute head start.” I told her. "I have always wanted to do it since I turned, but you know, I didn't find you yet.”
"Dude, are you going to play?” the same guy, I'm thinking name is Jake, called out.
I looked at Abigail and she hesitated, but nodded, "Sure, why not.”
"Yeah.", I called out. She got up from my lap and we made our way over to the group. They all welcomed Abigail and she just smiled back.
I started stripping to my boxer. I counted how many wolves there are-about fifteen. Twenty wolves running around. Twenty human running around also. Two of them being Tristan and Skyler.
"Okay, for the ones that don't know the rule," Jake said. "Mates, you have a five minute head start to run into the wolves to try and hide from your wolf. You'll have to hide somewhere cause when five minutes are up and you know when we howl-hide. The game usual last for fifteen minutes and whoever the first five to gets back, the wolf is the winner and you'll be their grand prize.” he said, wiggling his eyebrow at his red headed mate who smacked her teeth and rolled her eyes. "Better hide well, Annabelle. I won the last three years".
"How could I forget, Jake?” she asked, grinning. "Two years ago you actually got twoprizes. You know how much of a big head Liam has because of you?”
We all around chuckled and we all set up. Our mates
Abigail:
I looked at Colleen who was at my life and she smiled.
"On my mark at three," the guy said. "One....two...three!”
Colleen grabbed my hand and all twenty humans ran into the forest, going different way. We were running for a good minutes before we stopped and quickly started walking quickly.
Colleen went up to a tree and rubbed the sleeve of her jacket against it.
"What are you doing?” I asked her. "Isn't the point of this game supposed to not let them find you?”
We began walking again, "I know, but I want Tristan to find me.”
"Why?” I asked.
"To give Tristan a reason to come over tonight so we can do It.", she said. I looked at her confused and she sighed heavily, "Have sex.”
Realizing, my mouth formed an 'O', "Ohhhh...” I said slowly.
She snorted, "I've been on birth control for the past three month. What the other girls don't know won’t hurt them. It's surprisingly how easy to get them without a parent knowing. But anyways, my father out of town for the weekend for business and I want Tristan to come over tonight. I tried for the past three week, but he always pulls away. Something about my dad and his trust.”
"Why doesn't your dad like him?” I asked.
She shrugged, "I don't know, he knows how happy I am with Tristan.” she said, rubbing her arm against another one after a couple of moments in. "We have to spelt up now.", she said before running towards an opposite direction.
I looked around and tried to figure out where to go as I just continued to go forward. Some of the other humans that were playing ran passed me. The games this family plays.
These past five days have been nothing but complete hell. First when Gabe told me what he wanted me to do, I hated him even more. Thank god he ignored me the whole time we were here and he's been mostly absence from my view.
I felt so bad for ignoring Scott most of the week. Not letting him kiss or hold me like he usually does made me miss his touch so much.
Ahroo-wooo!
My body snapped around and I looked at the direction I came from. Five minutes have already been up? I didn't even realize.
Looking around for somewhere to hide, I found a tree branch that wasn't so high up in the air. One good thing coming from trying to hide from my dad is climbing up tree. I went over to the tree and began climbing up.
I heard the sound of running with big thumps. I saw wolves run by, but I couldn't tell the different between any of them since it was dark and they all pretty much looked the same.
Minutes passed and nothing happened yet. A few wolves stopped and looked up at me, but ran off. I leaned back against the tree and propped my right knee up in the air, waiting for something to happen.
Errrrrrrr.
I heard a growling sound, making me jerk in my spot and I turned so I could see what it was. A wolf was at the button of the tree, but I couldn't really see the fur. Scott's fur is a chocolate color brown.
"Scott?” I questioned.
The wolf stepped back a few steps and ran towards the tree, knocking his body against it. The branch I was on shook a little and I held onto the branch tightly.
"What you doing?” I questioned. He did it again and it started to scare me. "Scott, stop it.” The wolf started crawling at the tree bark, liking he was trying to climb. He continued to growl and it scared me even more. Why doesn't he just shift back? I heard a cracking sound and it came from the branch I was sitting on, "Scott, stop it!”
He knocked and knocked his body against the tree over and over again. My whole body was shaking by then and when I looked into the eyes of this wolf, I realized it wasn't Scott. His eyes were dark, almost black. The only time Scott's eyes change to black is when he mad or well—arousal, but they always change back to their golden brown color!
I don't recognize these eyes.
Who and why is this wolf doing this?
The wolf jumped up and grabbed my jeans and before I could hold onto the branch tightly, he dragged me down and I cried out. Thankfully I landed right on the wolf, breaking my fall. He rolled me off him and I squirmed up on my feet.
I held my hands up to the sharp fang baring angry wolf, "O-okay, as you r-realize, I'm not who your—looking for—".
He barked, shutting me up. Even though I know this wolf is probably also part human, I could hear my heart beating quickly in my ears and my heart pounding against my rip cage.
The wolf head snapped to his it's right and he growl lowly before looking at me for a moment, as if he was telling or daring me something before he ran off.
A moment later, another wolf should up. With what just happened, I didn't stick around. I turned and ran as fast I could away from the damn wolf. When I was a good few feet away, I heard it's growled and a few seconds later, something grabbed the back of Scott's jersey jacket I was wearing I lost my balance, fallowing forward.
I turned around and propped myself up by my elbow, looking up at the wolf with a terrified face. The wolf morphed into human body and Scott looked down at me, confused.
"Abigail, are you alright?” he asked, his voice filled with concern.
What the hell just happened? I thought.
I hesitated, but ran my hand threw my hair and nodded. "Y-yeah, I'm fine. Just got a little spooked, that's all. It's not every day your around packs of wolves.”
"I guess.” he said, but he didn't sound like he believed me. "Well, it took ten minutes to find you. I know I didn't win, but we got many try to win next time.” he said, winking, making me blush.
He got up and helped me up from the ground. He shifted right back into wolf and we walked back to the party together.
When we got back, most everyone was back. Scott sat down on the ground and I sat down next to him, putting an arm around his neck and leaned down on him. I saw Colleen and she grinned and winked at me. Hopefully she knows what's she's doing.
I saw something in the corner of my eye and I turned my head a little to see Gabe running out of the forest. He turned his head to me and grinned. My eyebrows came together. Why is he grinning?
I gasped, realizing something. He was the wolf back there that practically tried to kill me!

Now before any of you ask, no, you did not find out what Gabe told Abigail to do. It's a little mystery!!!;).
