Chapter Thirty-Two.
Colleen and I were huddling under blanket, the lights were off, and bowl of popcorn in the middle of us. We were watching the old version of the Nightmare on Elm St. I have never seen it, but I have seen bits and pieces of the new one and the old one is such better.
It scared me really bad. I hate scary movies.
I dunked under the covers when Freddy popped out when Nancy in her dreams. Now would be the moment I wish Scott was here to hold me, protect me, tell me everything okay and it’s just a movie. Hell, I want Tyler here with me right now!
“I haven’t seen this movie in years.” Colleen said in total interest as she munched down on popcorn, never taking her eyes off the TV. “Forgot how much I peed myself when I was seven watching this, now I remember. I dreamt of Freddy that night.”
“Can we turn it off now?” I begged, never leaving the safety of the blanket.
“What!” she scuffed. “Never. Not until it’s over. It’s just getting good.”
I groaned, hugging my pillow when I crawled back out when the really scary parts were over and when the ones would come up, I would hide my face in the pillow.
I didn’t even realize I began to doze off and before I knew it, I was dead asleep…
Next time I work up, I didn’t even know what time it was. It was dark from what I saw from looking threw my lashes. I heard a voice behind me and Colleen was whispering real low, but I could still make out what she’s saying.
“He’s what?” she questioned. “Oh my god—wait, repeat that. Hit? By an actual car? Who would be driving at one in morning—oh, right, a drunk, of course…”, she kept babbling and I was closer to falling back to bed even though I tried to keep myself awake to hear more. A car? Someone got hit? Who? My gut told me something bad and I could picture Scott in my head.
“Well, she’s asleep.” she said. “I don’t think I should wake her up—I know she’s his mate, but don’t you think this should be waited until the morning.”
I had to know. I turned around and leant up, “Colleen, who’s that?” I asked, rubbing my eyes. “Who’s hurt?”
She looked at me, holding her phone to her chest as she hesitated, “It’s Scott,” she said and my I gave her a look to go one. “He was hit by a car while he was out running…” she trailed off and I continue to look at her and shook my head once for her to continue and she sighed, “He was with Gabe. They ran out onto a street and they didn’t realize a car was coming and it hit Scott. Gabe was hurt, but just bruised.”
My throat and tongue felt heavy and sore suddenly. My eyes watered up, but I blinked them back, “U-um, okay, how’s Scott? He’s at home, resting right? I mean, they heal quickly, he should be fine in a few—”,
“He’s in the hospital…his neck broke and he was cut pretty badly in his chest going down his stomach.” she said, giving me an apoplectic look. “He…he would have died if he wasn’t in his wolf form. It was pretty bad since the driver was going over the speed limit and—what are you doing?”, she asked when I jumped up from the bed, turned on the lights, and quickly began to get dress.
“Tell whoever that is to come pick me up.”, I told her, my eyes watering up as I tried not to cry. I have always been scared before in my life, but the thought of Scott dying terrified me. Anger was boiling up in me because this is all Gabe’s fault! He said he planned on hurting Scott and he actually had the balls to hurt him! I thought he was joking.
How wrong I was.
“Abigail, I think you should wait until later on the morning.” she said, getting up from the bed.
“No.”, I said without hesitation. “I—I need to go to the hospital and make sure Scott’s okay.”
“You wouldn’t be able to see him for another few hours anyway. He’s in surgery right now and—”,
“I don’t care, Colleen!” I said. We were both shock at how cold I sounded and my voice level reminded me of my father. I don’t know why I was this scared, but the thought of Scott dying, leaving me here alone, and never seeing him again already broke my heart. “Tell someone to come pick me up.”
“Okay.”, she said. “Tristan, do you think someone could—he’s already on his way? Okay.” she said, hanging up. “Skyler’s on his way.” She walked up to me, “He’s going to be fine—Abigail.”
“You don’t know that, though.” I said. “One wrong move in surgery and he could—could…” I trailed off, not ever want to think that.
They was a knock at the door and Colleen dad came in, “I heard someone yell.” he said, looking tired and old.
“Bad dream, dad.” Colleen said.
Her dad looked at me questioned at my dressed self, “Going somewhere?”
My mouth opened, but I wasn’t sure what to say. A moment passed before I said, “Family stuff happening.”
He looked like he was about to doze off right here from the way his eyes were closing, but he woke back up and ran a hand down his face, “Oh okay, well nice to meet ya.”, he said as he turned and walked back to his room, yawning.
I looked at Colleen, “I’m scared, Colleen.” I admitted. I’m scared for Scott. Tyler. Myself. Gabe said he wants to hurt Scott. What if he gets Tyler and me taken away and separates us?
She hugged me, “It’s going to be alright, Abigail.”
“What if it doesn’t?” I asked, taking her arms off from around me. “Why do people always keep saying everything going to be alright when it could be?”
Well, what do you think?” she asked.
I shrugged, “I don’t know, but I feel something in my stomach I’m not even sure of.”
“Well, we just have to wait and find out I guess.” she said and sadly, that didn’t comfort me.

I walked into the hospital with Skyler Sir and followed him into a waiting area where I saw Skyler, Kelly, and Gabe. He was sitting on the chair, right elbow on the arm chair, and he looked like he was lost in thought.
I wanted to go up to him and hit, smack, anything at him. I held myself back from murdering someone and sat next to Kelly. I kept looking back at Gabe every here and there. No one was talking. It was complete silence. Not that I minded.
I looked at Gabe after the sixth time and he finally looked my way. His eyes were blank and I couldn’t read anything from them. Suddenly his eyebrows came together. Not in confusion but it looked like he was angry.
I looked away and waited…and waited…waited.
*
“Abigail,” Skyler voice broke my out of thinking to myself and I looked up at him to see him holding a bag of chips and a can of soda to me.
I wasn’t hungry. I shook my head and looked back down at my lap.
He sighed and sat next to me, “You need to eat.”
“I’ve been here almost two hours. You guys three and half. What are they doing?” I angrily said, not stopping at biting my nails.
“Abigail, you need to eat.” he repeated.
My head snapped to him, “Eat? You brother could die any second and—”.
“He won’t.”, he said, lowering his voice and leaned over to me, “He’s a wolf, Abigail. He’ll be much harder to kill him.”
“It’s still possible though, right?” I asked.
He didn’t answer me. “Eat.”, he said, placing the bag of chips and soda on my lap.
I shook my head, “No.”. My mind wasn’t on food right now.

I was fast asleep on Kelly laps when I heard the doors of the waiting room open and Kelly shook my shoulders. I leaned up and rubbed my eyes as I saw a nurse come in.
She looked tired, “He’s going to be alright.” she said and I felt like I could breathe. Kelly brought her hand up to her mouth and cried out in joy as Skyler Sir put an arm around her.
“Thank you.” he said, sniffing.
“You’re welcome, sir. We had to wait for a donor to come in for type O Negative which is very hard to find. It’s amazing how he was able to stay with us through the whole time we waited cause it was a very strong chance he would have slipped into a coma or worse.”, she said. “I have to be honest with you, we did start to lose him. His heart began to give out, but something very weird happen. When the doctor called one of our nurses, Abigail, for the defibrillator, it’s like he heard and started to fight for his life.”
Kelly chuckled once and I felt her glance on me. Actually, I felt everyone’s as my cheeks heated up.
"Can we see him?” Skyler Sir asked.
“He’s asleep and the doctor gave him something to sleep, so he won’t be conscious for a pretty long time. But yeah, you can. Follow me.”, she said and we all got up and fallowed her.
Gabe and I were sadly in the back together. I looked up at him and glared at him. He looked at me and glared also. I wanted to rip his throat out right here this second. Scott was actually close to dying. That raged me.
After a minute of walking, we came up to a door. The nurse opened the door, but Gabe pulled me back. I pushed at his chest, “Don’t touch me.”, I hissed. “You asshole, I can’t believe you.”
“I didn’t do this.” he said. “Yes, he was with me, but I didn’t plan it. What did you tell him, Abigail?” he angrily said.
“Nothing yet,” I said. “Mina’s your mate, isn’t she?” I asked and his face fell into shock. “I knew it!” I whispered pretty loudly. “Scott’s kissed her on spin the bottle and you got pissed! That’s what this is all about.”
“He shouldn’t have kissed her.”, he growled out. “She’s mine.”
“You never told him she was. He wouldn’t have if you told him.” I said, wanting to slap.
“That’s not the only thing.” he said. “She’s liked him, I knew she did. She had the biggest crush on him and didn’t even pay one attention to me that day and I was doing everything I could to get her to even notice me. You should have seen her when it landed on her. She lit up.”, he said, punching the wall.
“You are so immature.” I said. “Scott almost died and you just come out with a few bruises that look like they already seem to be healing up.”
“That wasn’t me.”, he said. “It was you.” he growled up, stepping up to me and hovered over me.
I felt small. “What are you talking about?”, I asked, trying to keep my voice sound like I wasn’t getting scared from his height and the way I could see his wolf side more in his face.
“You must have told him something because he kept questioning me. He wasn’t paying attention and the damn car hit him. Your fault, Abigail, all yours. Don’t put this shit on me. I wanted to scared him, but kill him.” he said, walking pass me, hitting his shoulder into mine roughly.
I stood there, my eyes watering up and a few tears slipped out of my eyes. Is that true? Did Scott almost die because of me?
I wiped my eyes, knowing I should get in there before one of them come out. I turned around and walked back to the room. Scott was laying on the bed, eyes closed, looking beat up.
I walked up to the bed and touched his hand. I jerked a little to feel it was a little colder than usual. I put my hand in his and looked at him. A cased was around his neck and bruises were everyone on his face, neck, and on the little chest I could see. I saw a little of the gauze from where he was cut at.
My eyes watered up, scared for him. I know the nurse said he was going to be alright, but seeing Scott like this still makes me upset. I sat down on a chair next to the bed and brushed Scott hair, feeling so many horrible emotions right now.
I felt someone eyes on me and I looked straight at Skyler. He looked me in the eyes and looked like he knew something. He moved his eyes a little too where Gabe was who was watching Scott.
I have a feeling Skyler overheard us.
