Chapter Sixteen.
Scott:
Once I was in the backyard of Abigail's house, I shifted back into human form. I focused my hearing into the noises inside the house. I heard Abigail's father yelling at her mother.
"That little bitch better not come back," he said. "God," he said, then hit something. "She took my son. She better come back so I can beat her ass and then kick her out."
"Will, you should get to bed," her mother said.
"Go to bed?" he questioned. "Angela I've just been hit in the head with a pan by my own daughter who's out there somewhere with my son! I'm pissed off!" he yelled. "You should have more control over her because maybe if you did, she wouldn't have done this-"
"Don't blame this all on me! You've been the one laying your hands on her! Maybe if you hadn't, she wouldn't have done this to you-ahh!" she screamed when he slapped her. The sound of his hand impacting with her face was loud and clear in my ears.
When I heard the sounds of him beating her, I couldn't just stand there anymore. I looked around for something hard and grabbed a rock. Tossing it up and down a few times in my hand like a baseball, I flung it at the window and it smashed through.
Going down on my hands and knees, I shifted into my wolf and hid behind the tree. I smelled Abigail's father's mixed scent of alcohol and pine needles come towards the door and the door flung open. "Who's there!" he yelled angrily.
I heard him go down a few of the steps. "Look, I don't have any time right now! If you don't come out right now, I swear to god..." he trailed off when I stepped out from behind the tree. He jerked and when he turned to his side, I growled. I wasn't me right now; it was my wolf side taking over. The devil, and believe me, when I'm in this form, I can't control what he does when he's angry. I snarled and he held his hands up.
"Ang-Angie," he said loud enough to almost be considered a yell.
"What?" Abigail's mother said as she came over to the door. "No, you take care of-oh shit," she said when she saw me. She had a rag at her neck where blood was. It made me snarl at her dad again, and I stepped closer to him. I could see the sweat of the side of his right brow. I circled around him like a wolf does to its prey. I saw his body lightly shaking.
"Angie, go get my gu-" I snarled again, cutting him off and he gulped. I rose up on my hind legs and he stumbled backwards, falling down on his butt.
"Wil-Will," Abigail's mom said.
"Shh," he hesitated. "Before you piss it off," he said, getting in a position to get up, but I growled warningly at him. I stepped between his legs and inched my face closer to his, baring my teeth at him. His eyes looked in mine with fear. Good. More sweat was appearing and I was taking satisfaction of out doing this. Maybe I will just kill him.
I opened my mouth and when I was about to rip at his neck, I felt a presence behind me and I heard a familiar growl. My father's scent washed through my nose and he snarled, Stop it, Scott.
I growled, Butt out of it, dad. I need to do this.
No you don't, do you think Abigail will want you to do this?
I'm doing this for Abigail. She needs to be rid of this dickhead. I felt my dad's presence come closer, so my head snapped around and I growled dangerously to him. Don't take another step; I'm not me right now.
Okay, son, just...relax, he said. Whether you like it or not, he is her father. I know you feel you have a right to do this for her, but-
I do have a right! I yelled. She's mine, if I don't do this, it'll mean I wouldn't protect her
No, this means if you do, it would be murder. Son, come on, let's go home. Abigail can live with us; she's already considered part of the family. If you do this, you'll regret it the rest of your life. You're just not taking her dad's life, but a man's life. Do you want that on your chest forever?
I didn't know what to say to that at the moment, I was only seeing red. I turned my head back to Will and he looked more scared now that my dad joined. I growled at him.
Scott, my dad warned. He needs something, one little thing. I bit down onto his shoulder, but not enough to hit anything important. His screamed filled my ears and his blood seeped into my fur. Scott
I was suddenly ripped off him and my dad bit down into my neck, pinning me to the ground. I jerked and tried to get up, but he was stronger than me.
We're going home! he yelled. As the family's main wolf, he was considered like an Alpha, so I'll have to do as he says. He hesitated, but let go of my neck. I got up and I ran behind him, but stopped to turn my head to see Will on his side. He was holding the bite wound I made.
I don't regret anything. I continued on my run and followed behind my dad until we got home. We shifted back into our human forms as we slowed our pace.
"Scott, what did I say!?" he yelled. "You attacked him!"
"He deserved it!" I yelled as I wiped my mouth where his blood was, pissed off my own dad wasn't taking my side about this. "He hurt her! He has been abusing my mate her whole life! You really think I wasn't going to do anything about it?! I had the right to protect her."
"It was stupid and irresponsible!" he said as we walked into the house. "You're supposed to be here for Abigail, not go after her father. Where's your pride?"
I growled, stepping up to get in his face. "Don't talk to me about pride. At least I didn't reject mine!"
He grabbed me by the throat and slammed me down on the floor, snarling dangerously. "That was a mistake and I regret hurting your mom. I got her back though and loved her ever since we met on the beach. I was just scared, you wouldn't understand. I was fourteen, a new wolf. Don't ever bring that up again. I know you're just angry, but if you ever disrespect me again, I'll kick your ass." Even though I hated it, if I was in my wolf form, I would be cowering down to him.
"Yes, dad," I said.
"Good," he said, letting go of my neck and we got up.
"Now, wash up and go to bed. But if you ever do something like this again, you better hope your ass you're prepared," he said and I just nodded, walking up the stairs to my bedroom. I grabbed some boxers before going into the bathroom.
I had blood all around my mouth and my chest. I turned on the hot water and cleaned myself up as I watched his blood go down the drain. I grabbed the soap from the shower and cleaned myself up to where I couldn't smell his scent anymore. I splashed myself with water one more time and looked at myself in the mirror.
I still don't feel guilt or regret. I grabbed a bath cloth and dried myself up. I didn't dare go back to my room as I walked out. I made my ways towards Abigail's room and slowly opened the door enough for my body to slide through so I wouldn't wake her or Tyler. Abigail was lying on her left side, using one arm as a pillow with her other dangling on her side. Her mouth was slightly open and she looked kind of like a little kid. I walked over to the bed and crawled up behind her.
"Wha...?" she questioned as she woke up and turned her body around a little.
"Shh, it's just me," I whispered to her. She turned back around and sighed heavily.
"Scott, what are you doing in here?" her voice getting softer and softer, telling me she was on the verge of going back to sleep. I put an arm over her stomach, entwining my fingers with hers, and nuzzled my face in the crook of her neck, pressing my body against hers. I heard her soft snores, telling me she quickly went back to bed.
Abigail:
I was in some kind of enchanted forest. Trees were everywhere with different kinds of flowers around. The ground wasn't dirt, but soft gross. Butterflies and bunnies were everywhere and the air felt warm and relaxing.
I heard a waterfall out in the distance and everything felt relaxing and calm. Like nothing bad could happen. I looked down at what I was wearing and saw I was wearing a white corset and a long skirt. I felt my hair and it was in some kind of old Roman hairstyle. I couldn't help but smile as I walked around in the forest. I wish this place was real. It's so beautiful.
Crack! My body snapped around when I heard something and I saw Scott stepping out from behind a tree only in white trousers.
He grinned as he came up to me, putting his hands on my neck and kissing me. My arms went around his waist and he pulled me closer to him. He then stepped back and took my hand and led me towards the running water sound of the waterfall. A few moments passed before we came out of the forest and I saw the beautiful sight of a waterfall and heard the sounds of animals around me. Everything looked enchanted.
Scott went behind me and put his hands on my shoulders, his breathing right next to my ear. "Stay with me, Abigail. Don't ever leave me," he whispered like it was secret.
"I want to, but I can't," I said. "Tyler and I have to go back."
I felt him shake his head. "No you don't. Your home is with me. You're going to stay here with me," he said.
Teasingly, I grinned. "And if I don't want to?"
"Well tough luck," he said. "You're staying with me whether you like it or not."
I couldn't help but giggle.
"Abigail."
"Hmm?"
"I have a secret," he said.
"What is it?
"You'll have to find out," he said and suddenly everything around me became dark and scary.
My eyes snapped opened and I looked at Tyler's crib to see him resting peacefully in it. I moved around when I felt my body stiffen and someone behind me tightened their arm around me. My head snapped around to see Scott. Then I remembered he snuck in here last night and before I could tell him to get out, I fell back asleep.
I stretched my arms out and my legs down, but I felt something poking in my lower back. "What the...hey, let go of me!" I whispered but hissed when I felt his morning hard on.
"What?" he questioned, waking up and I fell off the bed and went on my knees in front and hid behind the bed like a little kid, glaring at him. He stretched his arm, "What time is it?" I looked at the clock in the room and saw it was five in morning. I grabbed the pillow I was using and throwing it over his lower half. He realized my sudden freak out and he had the nerve to grin!
"Oh, that," he said.
"Is that normal for guys?" I questioned.
He leaned back against the wall and stretched his arms up again. "Yeah, if you have very nice dreams," he said, winking at me. "I sure can't wait for summer. I want to see the real thing instead of a dream."
"What real thing?" I questioned, continuing to glare at him. "You in a two piece bathing suit," he said and I snorted. "You sure are meaner when you talk."
"Say hello to my personality," I sarcastically said. "Why'd you come in here in the night anyways? Don't you have your own room?"
"I wanted to be in here with you. Thought you might be scared," he sarcastically said, pouting his lower lip out like a little kid.
"Just wanted to protect you, that's all," he said innocently, but I knew well enough Scott was far past being innocent.
"Well, I was fine," I said and I heard Tyler behind us fussing. I got up from the floor when he started his crying and I picked him up, putting him on my right hip. "Crap, I don't even have your bottle," I said. "Shh, Ty, it's okay. Sissy's here, shh."
"If you go downstairs into the kitchen, go to the wooden cabinet that's painted light blue and on the floor in a box should be some old bottles," Scott said.
"Can't you just show me?" I asked, not sure why he won't. He grinned,
"I don't think I should be around you right now when I'm hard as heck."
Looking at him in surprise and my cheeks burning up, I quickly turned and walked out of the room. I walked down the staircase and went towards the kitchen. I stopped shortly when I heard noises from the other side of the door. It sounded like someone was throwing up. I opened the door and found Haley bending over the sink, Skyler rubbing her back. His head snapped to look at me and a still crying Tyler.
"Sorry," I said. "I just, um, Scott said something about bottles being in there." I pointed at the blue painted door.
Haley waved her arm out. "Go-go. I'll be fine," she said, puking up more of her dinner, probably.
Skyler jogged over to the door.
"Scott couldn't have just gotten them?" he asked in a rush.
I bounced Tyler. "He's kind of...he's busy. Shh, Tyler, please, quiet down. People are sleeping. Yes, I know you're hungry. Sissy's going to get you some milk so you can go back to bed."
Skyler then came back to me with a bottle. "Want me to take him while you clean it and poor some milk in there?" he asked.
I gave him a pleading look. "If you don't mind?"
"Not at all," he said, taking him quickly from me.
"Gives me practice. Hey, little man, shh, calm down," he said as he started trying to find way to calm Tyler.
I went over to the sink, but remembered Haley was there, before thinking she was probably done. I was right. She leaned up and wiped across her mouth. "God, six more months of that...” she said. “I’m going back to bed," she said tiredly, leaving Skyler and me alone.
I cleaned the bottle out and poured some milk half way. I handed it to Skyler and he put it in Tyler's mouth. Tyler took it with both his hands and laid his head down on Skyler's shoulder, looking tired from all his crying.
"That's all it takes?" he questioned. "Just a bottle and he'll shut up?"
"Sometimes, but when he cries for no reason, I leave him alone in a room until he gets tired," I told him as I petted at Tyler's blond hair.
"Kind of harsh, don't you think, to leave him alone?"
"Some babies just need to cry and that's what I'm letting him do, but on his own time," I told him and he just nodded.
"So are you and Tyler going to stay here?" he asked as he swayed side to side.
I looked at him surprised, but then shook my head. "No, I have to go back, but I'll be okay."
"Abigail, Scott's not going to let you go back and, really, none of us will either. We don't want you living like that," he said.
"Well, then you don't understand, Skyler. My parents are the only ones Tyler and I have, we have to. I can handle my dad. I have since I was one," I told him. "Don't take this offensively, but I can take care of myself and I don't need ya to protect me."
"Scott's not going to look at it that way," he said.
"Well, he's going to have to find out how to," I said, taking my sleeping brother from Skyler and going back up to the room I was in to find Scott gone. I didn't question where he could have gone
