CHAPTER ONE

"Rhea, get your ass out of the bathroom right this instant!" A grumble from a voice behind the door, her fists knocking on it. "You've been in there for hours, and I'd like to shower too!"

"Five more minutes!" I yelled, almost done exploding the toilet.

I had just finished and flushed the toilet, and a sigh of relief escaped me. Not a second after, I unlocked the door and opened it. Coco, my best friend and roommate, entered the bathroom. Her face immediately scrunched up as her hands smacked against her nose. "Mother of living hell, what the fuck died in here?!"

"My stomach... along with my ass. And maybe a little bit of my dignity?" I whimpered, feeling embarrassed. Let's say my ass was burning, and I may have eaten way too many hot Cheetos and Taki's.

She disappointedly clicked her tongue, "Damn girl, you need to lay off some spicy food."

I whined, quickly denying her, "That's like you telling me that I should die. My life isn't the same without snacks. They're comfort food since they fill my loneliness."

Coco only rolled her eyes at me in exasperation, "Okay, miss-killing-my-nose-from-your-explosive-diarrhea. We have to start going soon. We're going to be late." She said, fanning her nose one last time in disgust.

Confused, I reached over to where my phone lay and checked my phone for the time. Only to see that we had an hour left to get ready and drive to the airport. I didn't realize how much time had passed. Then again, my running to the bathroom and showering may have resulted. My jaw dropped before I turned my attention back to her.

Unfazed by my reaction, Coco continued, "Hurry up and get ready; I'm going to start the car," before leaving me alone.

I sighed and rewashed myself, quickly trying to make up for the time we lost because of my binge eating from the previous night. As I finished loading my suitcase, my wolf's voice popped up.

'My, what a wonderful start to a shitty morning, huh?' she said in a teasing tone.

'Shut it, Rain,' I reply with a huff.

Rain only chuckled at my response before cutting the link.

Eventually, we got to the gates. The flight attendants were generous enough to let us in, even though we were a few minutes late. I mean, who knew humans could be so kind? Scratch that. I just heard a human complain behind me, but I don't blame them since the plane was delayed by 5 minutes for us.

How embarrassing.

Coco and I quickly sat in our seats, and the flight attendants promptly instructed us what to do if something happened. Humans are amusing to watch, but I was already bored. The ride will be long, but thinking about it makes me groan. "Hey, pssst, Coco..." I said, turning to her. Coco was already passed out on the seat next to me, so scratch that off the list to have someone entertaining to talk to.

This bitch fell asleep that fast, huh...

We were flying from the US to Canada, or more specifically, from Florida to our old pack in Canada.

I sighed. I was hoping my mate was there. After all, I was visiting, and pack members have gone and gone. Rarely do I ever see them. I wouldn't know what else to do if my mate wasn't there in the pack. Traveling by the age of 15 to search for my mate wasn't a smart move on my part since werewolves discovered their mates at the age of 16. I'm now 23 and still mateless.

That would mean my mate is either dead and I have a second chance mate, or he is at another pack in another country.

After thinking momentarily, I called out to my wolf, Rain in Mind Link, anxious for answers.

Rain, what if we don't find our mate? What if --

'Rhea..' she said in a scowling tone, 'there's no what ifs in my book. That's up to your imagination, but most never get answered and could lead you into trouble.'

'I'm just worried,' I reply, fidgeting.

Rain sighed, 'Me too, Rhea, but I have a gut feeling that our mate is out there. I promise you that he'll be close. I can feel it. I've been restless recently.'

I hope you're right.

'I always am,' she said, puffing out her chest confidently.

'Cocky much?'

'Yet, you love me,' she resorts.

'Unfortunately, yes,' I sighed with sarcasm.

Smiling, I cut the link.

Taking a deep breath, I gaze out the window.

Let's hope for the best. Even so, I was sure something was wrong.
