10- His Cries



"Lucy! No no no no no! Lucy, please hang on!"

"N-n-na..."

She couldn't even say anything to me. No last words, nothing. Just the sight of her dying.

I'll never get to know what she was going to say to me.

I was talking incoherently. Begging for her to stay. And a small, sad smile was on her lips.

That smile.

That damn smile.

It was a smile of no hope. She knew she was going to die. A smile of sadness. A smile of goodbye.

All too soon, her eyes had slowly closed. The image of her, dead in my arms, plays through my head.

I see the drops on her desk before I realize I'm crying.

"Dammit!"

I wish I had just listened to her and retreated. Now, I have to live with my mistake for the rest of my life.

I start to sob, like a child.

"You big baby.."

I grab at my head at the memory. The sobs  wrack through my body uncontrollably.

"Lucy..."
