Chapter 3

Previously: "But now he and his grandmother's world would collapse if he did not do what he was told to, that was marrying the intimidating business tycoon, Master Kim, whom he had only seen on TV screens."
Mr. Gu and Taezum collaborated to select a wedding date. Subsequently, Mr. Gu conveyed the chosen date to Master Kim. Master Kim, devoid of any obligations, readily accepted. The marriage was set for the first day of the following month. Mr. Gu also mentioned his son's desire for a grand wedding ceremony, to which Master Kim inwardly scoffed. He recognized that, like father, like son, Mr. Gu relished displaying his wealth.

However, he chose not to voice this sentiment and agreed to the grand ceremony.

Master Kim's motivation to marry stemmed from his family's constant pestering. They had urged him to find a life partner, and despite his initial resistance, he eventually gave in. Once the Kim family made a decision, it was inevitable. He had been granted the freedom to choose his spouse, and he settled on Mr. Gu's son due to the young man's impeccable image in the media. This choice would also spare Master Kim the headache of constant public attention on his husband. He harboured no romantic interest in anyone; his love for his family was all-encompassing. Nevertheless, the Kim family's insistence on his marriage led him to this decision. Master Kim had specifically requested Mr. Gu's biological son, aware of the rumours surrounding Mr. Gu's use of his stepson to protect his biological son.
His insistence on marrying a biological son was rooted in the Kim family's strict adherence to traditional values, which emphasized the importance of marrying into a pure-blooded family.

At the Gu residence:

The typically serene Gu household had transformed into a bustling hub of activity. Maids and butlers hurried about, preparing for the wedding scheduled to take place in the splendidly blossoming garden at the back of the mansion. This garden was a sight to behold, boasting a variety of flowers in full bloom. Jungkook was the dedicated caretaker of this garden, and his efforts had earned the Gu mansion recognition as having the most beautiful garden, featured in prestigious magazines with numerous articles highlighting its beauty.
The Gu family frequently hosted tea parties and balls in this garden, and now, Jungkook's wedding would also take place there. With just a week remaining until the event, everyone was engrossed in preparations.
Jungkook found himself being whisked in and out of parlours, spas, and various treatments. Despite it all, he remained quiet, contemplating how he could escape the wedding while ensuring his grandmother's treatment continued. All he needed was a little more time to secure another job and start paying the hospital bills in instalments.
He was abruptly pulled from his thoughts when Taezum, with a sickly sweet tone, remarked, "Our little Jungkookie is getting married."
"Relax, hyung, there's still a week left until my wedding," Jungkook retorted, sporting a smug expression. Taezum, irked by Jungkook's unusual defiance, tightened his grip on Jungkook's throat with sharp nails. Jungkook, unflinching due to his accustomed abuse, calmly warned, "Hyung, those marks will be visible. Do you want to expose our little secret to the world?" A hint of a smirk played on Jungkook's lips as he spoke, observing Taezum gritting his teeth and eventually releasing his throat.
"You'll regret this, you little shit, one way or another," Taezum spat before departing. Left alone, Jungkook broke down, overwhelmed by the events of the past few days. After fifteen minutes, he composed himself, washed his face, and proceeded to carry out the assigned chores, which had been made less messy to ensure that the money invested in him did not go to waste.

Jungkook made his way to the garden, the very place where his wedding would take place. As he stood there, he inhaled deeply, taking in the sweet and tangy fragrance of the flowers. Nostalgia washed over him, and he remembered how he used to seek solace in this garden when he felt lonely and scared. It had been his refuge, providing him with the support and tranquillity he needed. Over time, he had taken to planting new flowers and caring for them, turning it into a hobby. When he had first entered the household, he had been alone and frightened, and this garden had been his anchor. Slowly, he began to cultivate new plants and tend to the garden, work that the Gu family didn't mind since they had never employed a gardener. Now, the garden was in full bloom, and Jungkook was content yet melancholic, as he knew he would have to leave it behind. He loved the garden as much as he loved his grandmother.

The Wedding Day:

The long-awaited wedding day arrived, and Jungkook was consumed by nerves. He had devised a plan to escape, but it seemed challenging, given the presence of imposing bodyguards surrounding him. Frustration welled up within him. He had dressed in a perfectly tailored white suit and a tiara, and despite his somewhat feminine figure, he looked ethereal. But the anxiety gnawed at him.

Left alone in his room for a brief moment, Jungkook seized the opportunity. His bedroom window faced the garden, and he opened it without hesitation, jumping out and landing with a soft thud on the ground below. Without wasting a second, he dashed toward the garden wall, which had a hole large enough for him to slip through. He squeezed through the gap and escaped, unaware that his departure had been detected.

A vigilant bodyguard, positioned nearby, had witnessed Jungkook's escape through the hole in the garden wall. He immediately alerted the Gu family, who dispatched a group of bodyguards to pursue Jungkook.
On the other side, Jungkook, exhausted from running, finally halted when his feet could carry him no further. He gasped for breath in the quiet forest.

(A.N.: Beyond the garden wall lay a forest.)

The silence was shattered by the sound of crunching leaves as multiple footsteps approached. Before Jungkook could react, he found himself surrounded by four burly men—bodyguards from the Gu mansion. Strong headlights suddenly illuminated the dark forest, and fear gripped Jungkook as he received an unexpected call from the hospital where his grandmother was undergoing treatment.
