History: Although the United Nations was indeed created in the aftermath of WW2, the true United Nations was really established in 1997 with the formation of the United Nations Defense Force. This was made possible due to all nations signing the 'Articles of Consolidation' which would unify all national military and supernatural paramilitarily organizations under a single chain of military command. Furthermore, they would also include members that were either extraterrestrial or supernatural in origin, giving humankind the allies and friends they needed in order to survive.

Templar Order: Although their organization was most prominent in the Middle Ages, specifically during the era of the Holy Crusades, the truth however is that the Templer Order dates back to the days of Cain and Abel, to Adam and Eve. After God casted Adam and Eve out of the Garden of Eden and Cain murdered Abel, it led to the birth of Seth, the first of God's Prophets and the first member of the Templars. His mission was to guide humanity back towards the path of redemption and acted as the first Grandmaster. Since the very beginning of its inception, the Templar Order has been fighting for the Freedom and Survival of the Human race against the hostile forces of the supernatural. They were involved in many important events throughout human history, changing its course in hopes of forging a better future. This has also led then to establish the United Nations, a military organization that can effectively counter the supernatural and protect the human race. Their main enemies are the Illuminati, an organization created by Lucifer who seeks either the destruction or enslavement of the human race.

Hellsing Organization: The Hellsing Organization, also known as the Royal Order of Protestant Knights, or simply Hellsing, is a paranormal organization located in the outskirts of London which houses powerful supernatural beings weaponized to fight against the forces of darkness; these beings are vampires. Founded by Abraham Van Helsing shortly after the events of his battle against the mighty Dracula, the organization was made in response to the threat posed by vampires after his encounter with him. The purpose of the Hellsing Organization is to end all earthly activity of non-human creatures. It is traditionally headed by Abraham's descendants, as they are the only ones who can control Dracula, 'the fruit of the Hellsing family's labors', whom they performed many experiments upon, building him into the ultimate weapon for use in battle against the undead. The organization is understood to have a body of soldiers responsible for the protection of the mansion conducting offensive operations against targets. The protection of the Hellsing Organization includes VAB armored personnel carriers, wearing uniform and body armor, and handling a variety of weapons, especially MP5 submachine guns. However, the organization is also shown to use anti-Christian weaponry, mainly the use of vampires and magical spells to help counter against strong foes with great mystical abilities.

Order of the Silver Cross: The Order of the Silver Cross, also known as the Silver Cross or simply The Order, is a secret paramilitary organization located in a secluded region of Moscow under guidance of the Russian government with the protection and security of the country from any and all supernatural threats. While some organizations focus on a specific set of monsters that they are dedicated to hunt and exterminate, the Order of the Silver Cross is much more broad in that they combat a large variety of supernatural creatures, although, their most antagonistic enemies would be the vampire menace. However, what most are unaware of is that while the Order of the Silver Cross have human soldiers, they can also deploy their secret weapons when it comes to threats that require more man power. These weapons are none other than werewolves. After the pact, the alpha became that weapon, and eventually gathered several more werewolves to form a pack. These werewolves are the trump cards of the organization, and serve as their most powerful weapons. During those years, when the head of the organization is on his/her deathbed, their next of kin being their own children are ultimately left to take seat as the heirs. However, before they are to take command of the Order they must undergo a series of grueling tests to see if they are worthy. These tests include leaving them out into the Russian wilderness for approximately a week in total and they must learn how to survive the harsh climates on their own while also attempting to defend themselves from the animals. When they pass, they are ready to take the seat as head of the organization. Not only that, but once they do they have total and complete command over the small group of werewolves at their disposal, with the lycanthropes themselves being completely loyal to them.

Nightstalkers: The Nightstalkers, also known as the Unnatural Analysis Unit (UAU), are a secretive and highly classified department of the Federal Bureau of Investigation devoted to hunting and eliminating supernatural beings that threaten the safety of the United States of America along with its citizens. The department which is headed and operated out of Manhattan, New York is known by other organizations and government officials to have been in operation for over a century and a half, meaning that it is a rather new and young group compared to other paragons. Much like other paramilitary gatherings, the Nightstalkers are also known for deploying their own set of supernatural creatures to combat those that threaten the citizens of New York. While it is unknown how many monstrous soldiers they can deploy, there are currently two paranormal agents under the employment of the department: Derous a dragon, and Curtis Kilgrave who is a ghost. They are said to have over 36,074 human employees. Although they too possess a large amount of foot soldiers which are members of the branch, while also under the operation of the FBI agency. Their resources are also highly impressive, to where they possess state of the art technology capable of tracking and pin-pointing any supernatural activity occurring in the city, and weaponry that is specifically designed to destroy certain paranormal threats; which includes holy water, white oak, crosses, incendiary bullets, and much more. They are also known to specialize in the teachings of the occult, and even wield an assortment of magical items that can help banish or destroy certain supernatural beings. Their sources also range from other intelligence gatherings that can stretch out beyond New York, basically either from New Jersey or states close to it.

Libra: A secret paranormal organization within Hellsalem's Lot, dedicated to protecting the balance between Earth and the world of the supernatural. It is unknown how long the organization has been active, though given its close ties with the Hellsing Organization, the Nightstalkers, and the Bureau for Paranormal Research and Defense, it can be presumed that they have been around before Chicago became Hellsalem's Lot. Libra was presumably founded by Klaus Von Reinherz, or more likely his family, shortly after or before the portal to the Alterworld opened. Since then, its membership has expanded to include all the members listed below. Libra is said to have several unknown divisions that specialize in certain paranatural events with the main branch run by Klaus and his teammates and stationed in Chicago. As stated before, Libra has close ties with the Hellsing Organization mostly due to the fact that Klaus' family would do business trips with Integra Hellsing's own family together. Klaus also states that his grandfather used to work alongside Trevor Bruttenholm during the early days of the Bureau. Libra was also one of the main players in attempting to thwart Lucifer's machinations of bringing about the Apocalypse, which involved them attempting to protect Leonardo Watch from falling into the hands of the Illuminati and later Lucifer himself who desired to use Leonardo's unique eyes into finding where the Tree of Knowledge would sprout. And because of that event, their mission became more than pivotal in preventing the balance between the supernatural and the natural be disrupted. They became a part of the United Nations in 1997.

Bureau for Paranormal Research and Defense (B.P.R.D.): The Bureau for Paranormal Research and Defense (or the B.P.R.D. for short) is an organization charged with protecting America and the world from the occult, paranormal and supernatural. It maintains the services of several supernatural beings. While it focuses on a wide arrange of supernatural activity, their focus is mainly to collect knowledge concerning the Old Ones and try to combat the beings that are connected to them. Basically, their fieldwork is mainly the elimination of any Lovecraftian threat. Two of their most powerful members is the Cambion known as Hellboy and a Nephilim named Neo Angelo.

Wuxing: The Wuxing, also known as the Five Agents or the Five Elements, are a group of five elemental warriors that safeguard the Elixir of Life. The Wuxing were beings that were around during the Qing Dynasty, granted with immense power over the five elements that are mainly attributed to Chinese philosophy or religion. Each elemental was originally a mortal belonging to a noble family that was granted these powers by the gods to guard the fabled Elixir of Life from any who so foolishly attempt to gain it for selfish needs. However, after a millennia of guarding the Elixir, the fire aspect Wenren Yu Xuan would break his vow and disregard his duty by using the Elixir to heal his sick his mother. This of course was met with great resistance, the most disastrous of which was when Xuan confronted a Qilin that possessed the Elixir in its domain located near the Golden Gates. And after losing the battle to the Qilin, the intensity of the fight dulled and weakened the barriers that kept demons, monsters, and malignant mortals at bay with the Elixir being lost in the process. For abandoning his sworn duties, Xuan was banished from the mountains and forced to live among humanity until he atones for his deeds all while searching for the Elixir to return it to its rightful place with the Elixir revealed to be a living being; the child of the Qilin. Throughout the centuries the Wuxing would reincarnate in a different form throughout the generations, defending China from the most ferocious demons.

Kisatsutai: A joint organization of clans stationed in Japan that has existed since ancient times, dedicating its existence to protecting humanity from Yōkai. In order to become a slayer, an individual must pass the Final Selection, a test used as an entrance exam to join the Kisatsutai. During this selection, examinees must survive for seven days on a mountain top infested with yōkai without any aid from the outside world. Once a slayer has fully settled into the organization, they are classified as a member of the lowest rank: Mizunoto. They must complete a variety of missions to ultimately climb the ranks and reach the highest position: Kinoe. Within the Kisatsutai organization, there is a group of elites known as the Hashira. This group consists of the most powerful combatants in the organization. Hashira in particular are the most skilled in utilizing their Breathing Styles along with the summoning of their Guardian Spirits which dwell within their blades and are attuned to the specific Breathing Style of the Hashira and blessed by the Shinto gods.

In modern day, they became the supernatural paramilitary organization of Egyptian Government, tasked with protecting Egypt and the rest of humanity from supernatural threats.

Apostles of Hecate: A group or coven of witches and Wiccans which is also affiliated with over one hundred covens. The Apostles of Hecate are hailed as one of the most powerful witch covens on Earth, if not the most powerful. It is due to their status and relationship with other covens, which many consider to be a superior over subordinate type, that they consider themselves the supreme coven. The Apostles, as evidenced by their title, worship the goddess Hecate who is the goddess of witchcraft and crossroads. They believe that through her, they can channel her power and gain her wisdom to protect those that society shuns such as thieves, beggars and of course witches. It wasn't until the formation of the UN did their society get rediscovered. Instead of attacking them, they were given an offer to an alliance. Thanks to the Archangel Angelo, the UN was able to convince them to join their side in order to help protect their world from threats that can destroy their way of life. Seeking to rebuild their organization and hoping to live free of persecution in the form of cooperation, they agreed and became one of the founding members of the UNDF.

Cathar: The Cathars, also known as Cathari or Speakers, were a dualist medieval religious sect of nomadic scholars and traditions in Southern France which flourished in the 12th century CE and challenged the authority of the Catholic Church. Cathar priests lived simply, had no possessions, imposed no taxes or penalties, and regarded men and women as equals; aspects of the faith which appealed to many at the time disillusioned with the Church. Cathar beliefs ultimately derived from the Persian religion of Manichaeism but directly from another earlier religious sect from Bulgaria known as the Bogomils who blended Manichaeism with Christianity. Cathars rejected the teachings of the Catholic Church as immoral and most of the books of the Bible as inspired by Satan. They criticized the Church heavily for the hypocrisy, greed, and lechery of its clergy, and the Church's acquisition of land and wealth. Not surprisingly, the Cathars were condemned as heretical by the Catholic Church and massacred in the Albigensian Crusade (1209-1229 CE) which also devastated the towns, cities, and culture of southern France. Cathars believed that Satan had tricked a number of angels into falling from Heaven and then encased them in bodies. The purpose of life was to renounce the pleasures and enticements of the world and, through repeated incarnations, make one's way back to heaven. Created by the Templar order, Cathar had become the paramilitary organization for France and have protected the country from all forms of supernatural threats until their joining of the United Nations.

Da'at Yichud: Created by the Templar Order, the Da'at Yichud were an ancient mystical secret society that designed and created inventions centuries ahead of contemporary times. The most prominent was their abilities to use technomancy that allows them to create powerful inventions the likes of which humanity could never create. Their practices are based on pure reason and are described as a way of understanding the inner workings of creation through knowledge and natural law but in a more benevolent light. Their creations never had a purpose beyond the act of creation and were nothing more than a method of communing with God and other transcendent spiritual beings. As such, they were never intended to be used, no matter how powerful they are. Their creations were said to be a perfect blend of science and magic. Despite their harmless nature, many individuals, including their own, criticized their laws and way of progression as they would not use their inventions to help turn the tides of say war and other catastrophic events. The elders within the Da'at Yichud explained that use of their inventions would only lead to further devastation and destruction especially at the hands of those who only seek more power. Furthermore, they were fully aware that hidden within the unconscious of others is an insatiable desire for conflict so even if those others would use their inventions for good, they would be seduced by the sheer power that lay within them to spurn only further conflict. However, that all changed when they were met by the Templar Order and the Archangel Angelo, explaining that humanity needs their help against the Illuminati, and the demonic Legions of Hell. With the apocalypse fast approaching, Da'at Yichud joins the UN and helps humanity create the technology and weapons needed to ensure the survival of all human life and their allies.

Parautilitarian: Parahumans, also known as Parautilitarians, Enhanced or Superhumans, are humanoid or superhuman beings who possess abnormal abilities afforded to them through paranatural means. They are humans with powers that were not granted to them through means of magical or cosmic forces, but instead were born with such abilities. Their abilities can range from manipulation of certain forms of energy or matter, to flight, elemental attacks, enhanced senses and strength, or other physical and mental enhancements and a massive variety of abilities that go against the natural laws of reality, defying the basic logic and physics of science. Basically, they can possess a wide array of powerful abilities that puts them on par with and even surpass other supernatural creatures. Parahumans, despite their human origins, have many distinctive traits in regard to biology, physiology, and genetics from their evolutionary predecessors. Parahumans can have widely varying biological appearances depending on the nature of their paramutation. Parahumans can also come in categories and that is evident in an Omega-class Parahumans. An Omega-class is one with the most powerful genetic potential of their paranatural abilities. Some abilities depicted by Parahumans described as Omega-class include immortality, extreme manipulation of matter, reality, energy, high psionic ability, strong telekinesis, and the potential to exist beyond the boundaries of the known physical universe. Mutation, in question, is caused by an unknown in the Parahumans' DNA. Mutations normally manifest themselves during puberty, often as a result of a traumatic event. Some Parahumans exhibit their mutations at birth, however, others do not manifest their powers until adulthood or when binding an Object of Power. Parautilitarians can also develop a secondary mutation, whereby their anomalous physiology is capable of responding to the need for survival. Thus, in rare occasions a parautilitarian's powers change or become even greater, and in rare cases they can develop a new, often unrelated ability. When the parautilitarians joined the UN, scientists and researchers were able to discover and copy the genes that make a parautilitarian and reverse engineer it to make artificial variants. This allows for normal humans to be given powers and abilities that are paranatural in nature.

Federal Bureau of Control: The Federal Bureau of Control (FBC), also known as the Foundation of Control, or simply The Bureau or The Foundation, is a clandestine secret organization tasked with the containment, study, and control of paranatural phenomena which ranges from individuals to entities, locations, and events. The FBC is an organization entrusted by governments around the globe to contain and study anomalous individuals, entities, locations, objects, and phenomena operating outside the bounds of natural law. If left uncontained, the objects would pose a direct threat to human life and humanity's perceptions of reality and normalcy. It is unknown when exactly the Federal Bureau for Control was founded but they were around during the 1910s when fighting the Molluscs, and the Board, the ruling body of the FBC as a whole, cryptically states that this organization has been here for a 'very' long time. The existence of the anomalies is withheld from the public to prevent mass panic and to allow human civilization to function normally, with very few secret organizations that confront the supernatural knowing of the FBC's existence. When an anomaly is discovered, the FBC deploys agents either to collect and transport the Altered to a facility, or to contain it at its location of discovery if transport is not possible. Once the anomalies are contained, they are studied by the bureau's scientists. Next to the Global Occult Coalition they are the most powerful paranormal agency on Earth with many connections to other powerful supernatural organizations. Due to their line work and influence over many powerful agencies, they also officially do not exist. Furthermore, where the Coalition are seen as the 'police' of the paranatural world, the Foundation are the 'jailers'.

Global Occult Coalition: The Global Occult Coalition (GOC), also known as the United Nations Global Occult Coalition (UNGOC) is governmental counter-paranormal terrorism organization tasked with maintaining both national and global security. Next to the Federal Bureau of Control they are the most powerful paranormal agency on Earth with many connections to other powerful supernatural organizations. The GOC are a largely political force, seeing themselves as the police of the paranormal world. They pride themselves on destroying supernatural entities that pose a threat to humanity and make use of the most high-tech experimental technology possible, obtained from their benefactors. Many potential paranatural anomalies have been destroyed by them before the Federal Bureau of Control could obtain and contain them. Officially the GOC does not exist but if it did it would be comprised of some of the top men and women from the best military units in the world. According to Mustang, the GOC houses military units assigned to them by ten nations (supposedly twenty-three) working together and sharing intel. They have been both on the side of the FBC and against it at times, depending on the situation. They largely hold the FBC in contempt for their use and containment of Altered Items rather than their out-and-out destruction. The GOC has respected the FBC's formidable might enough to leave it mostly alone, although there have been some questionable incidents with which the GOC have strictly denied involvement. However, with the formation of the United Nations and orders from the Templar Order, the GOC is forced to put aside any and all hostilities and grudges with the FBC to ensure the survival of the human. Though they still don't see eye to eye with the FBC, the current gen GOC works will with the organization.

Majestic Twelve: Majestic 12 (or MJ-12), previously known as MAJI, is the code name of a secret committee of scientists, military leaders, and government officials, formed in 1947 by an executive order by U.S. President Harry S. Truman to facilitate recovery and investigation of alien spacecraft. The concept originated in a series of supposedly leaked secret government documents first circulated by ufologists in 1984. The 'Majestic Twelve' emerged during a period in the late 1950s known as the Space Age when America was in an arms race with Russia in sending the first satellite in space. In particular, the Twelve came together when the satellites emitted radio waves that drew the Martians to Earth and were officially acknowledged after a series of unexplained alien sightings occurred in the aftermath of the Martian invasion. Of course, MAJI also had several confrontations with the enigmatic Men in Black who hampered their investigations in alien sightings and did not even spare their investigative team such as Bluebook. MAJI was purportedly disbanded and would not turn up until the 1980s when ufologists believed there had been a cover-up of the Roswell UFO incident and speculated some secretive upper tier of the United States government was responsible. Their suppositions appeared to be confirmed in 1984 when ufologist Jaime Shandera received an envelope containing film which, when developed, showed images of eight pages of documents that appeared to be briefing papers describing 'Operation Majestic Twelve'. The documents purported to reveal a secret committee of twelve, supposedly authorized by United States President Harry S. Truman in 1952 and explain how the crash of an alien spacecraft at Roswell in 1947 had been concealed, how the recovered alien technology could be exploited, and how the United States should engage with extraterrestrial life in the future. In Modern Day, just after the creation of the UN, the Majestic Twelve serve as Earth's ambassadors when it comes to contact with alien life.

Nameless Order: The Nameless Order was an organization active in the Song Dynasty. It was created to combat the Taotie, preventing the monsters from breaching the Great Wall of China. It disbanded after the Taoetie's total defeat. The Nameless Order was a Chinese military order that was commissioned by the Imperial Court of the Song Dynasty during AD 1010-63. They were created centuries ago as a response to the arrival of the Taotie that had come to China in a bid to overtake the prosperous lands for the tribes of Gog and Magog, their creators. To protect the empire against the monstrous horde, the Great Wall of China was constructed as a line of defense against the rampaging creatures with the Nameless Order manning it. This prevented the creatures from overrunning the world with the Order having repelled the beasts on numerous occasions. After each defeat, the Taotie retreated and emerged once again every 60 years. It was only thanks to the appearance of a Prophet that the Taotie were finally eliminated, and China was saved. Since then, the Nameless Order acts as the paramilitary organization that guards and protects China and the world from supernatural and often times extraterrestrial threats.

Silver Lantern Club: The Silver Lantern Club was an occult society based in London, England. The Silver Lantern Club houses a myriad of occultists and demonologists, several of which hail from other parts of the world as well. Some of the Silver Lantern members even consist of powerful magicians and witches. According to Arthur Hellsing, the father of Integra Hellsing, the Silver Lantern Club was established to investigate matters involving the supernatural so as the Hellsing Organization would not have its hands full with an overload of unexplainable cases. Members of the club normally congregate at the Monk's Head either to delegate in their tales involving the supernatural or to discuss important matters that threaten the lives of people. The members in question consisted of legendary paranormal investigators and hunters such as Sir Edward Grey, Sarah Jewell, Abraham Van Helsing, Simon Bruttenholm, Ian Thatch, and others. There were also the occasional inhuman members like the vampiress Mina Harker and Henry Jekyll.

Seelie Court: The Seelie Court, also known as the Summer Court, is a massive group of fairies and fey that is associated with the season of Summer, the growth of Life, and the comfort of fire. They tend to be more subtle than those of the Unseelie Court, and more emotional as well. The Seelie court were known to seek help from humans, to warn those who had accidentally offended them, and to return human kindness with favors of their own. Still, a fairy belonging to this court will avenge insults and could be prone to mischief. The most common time of day to see them is twilight. Other names for the Seelie court are 'The Shining Throne' and 'The Golden Ones' and 'The Light Court'. Seelie Court fairies are seen as generally 'good', mainly because they are less evil and possess a more lighthearted attitude than their Unseelie counterparts. The agents of Summer are associated with the season, and share powers in line with it. Many can promote and control plant growth, wield fire with ease, and heal living beings. All Seelie fae are stronger during the day then at night as well as during the Summer, and Unseelie's dark winter magics are extremely dangerous to them.

Requiem: The Office of Requiem, simply referred to as 'Requiem', was a Central Intelligence Agency backed international faction that is part of the Global Occult Coalition. They are responsible for containing and investigating the dimensional breaches across the globe. Requiem is a secretive, CIA faction that is protective of its functions as they wage war against demons and otherworldly hostile eldritch forces from the Black Sun Dimension. Requiem was a growing military that attained many agents within years since its initiation. Naturally, as being part of the Global Occult Coalition and opposed to general military groups, Requiem has one of the most advanced weaponry and equipment for the sole purpose of suppressing unnatural activity.
