The Treehouse

Liam retired early and went up to his office. In his office he grabbed a few files and then went to his room. Pushing open the door to his room an unexpected, wonderful smell filled his nose.

Walking fully in he sat his files down on his bed and looked around. The closet door is open and it just so happened to be Saturday. It all kind of clicked.

Sitting down on his bed he pulled the papers out of a single file. The papers in this file contained the agreements to the treaty. A unification between two packs.

Liam slightly glanced at the other folder. It held a red stamp with bold letters spelling 'classified' on the font. Putting the papers in the folder he held down he picked up the classified folder and flipped through the papers.

Shuffling in the closet made Liam look up. Seeing Serenity come out of the closet with his basket of clothes he shut the file and set it down next him.

She looked over at him, "sorry for disturbing you. Your sheets haven't been changed in two weeks, would like for me to strip the bed?"

"Yes," getting up he grabbed his papers and put them in the appropriate folders then set them on his nightstand.

He then proceeded to help serenity take everything off his sheets.

She didn't object when he started to help her. Taking of his sheets and covers was a whole workout for just one person. Although it was not as hard as putting everything back on.

Serenity took the sheets and basket of dirty laundry, leaving the room. Liam watched after her, wondering. Where did she come from?

Grabbing his files and computer he sat on the plush carpet of his floor, in front of the bed. Maybe it was about time to do some digging into her past.

Serenity sat in the kitchen alone waiting for the clothes to be done drying. Everyone was still celebrating the marriage of Audrey and Travis, so she basically had the whole place to herself. Besides for alpha Liam who came back early for some reason.

He had been up in rooms for the past hour, but now he decided to make an appearance. Serenity tried not to stare as he made his way to the fridge.

She knew she was in trouble for the fight, but didn't know when the repercussions for that would come. She just kind of expected them any moment now.

Grabbing a bottle of water from the fridge he turned glancing at her, "why aren't you still out with everyone else?" He took a sip from the bottle, then put the cap back on.

"I still have chores to do," she softly smiled up at him.

He nods his head and leans on the island, "and they could have been done tomorrow."

"With all do respect, why do you care?"

Such a blunt question. Liam wasn't use to blunt, "I don't. I should because it's my rooms you clean, but I'm just curious as to why you aren't out with everyone else I guess."

"I could be asking the same question," she spoke softly breaking eye contact every now and then to say she's not a threat.

He chuckles and pushes himself off the counter, "I guess you could say I have "chores" also."

"The alpha have chores?"

The conversation is now light, and easy going. Like that between two close friends. It felt right between the two.

"Believe it or not, but being an alpha isn't everything it's cut out to be."

"I bet it's not, but would you rather not be alpha?"

The question took him by surprise, "what?"

"Would you rather be just another normal werewolf? Basic. Or maybe a pack soldier?" She pushed on with her question.

"Being alpha is just my birthright. I was raised for this position. Asking me if I would rather be, do, something else-" he stopped and shrugs his shoulders, "I don't know. I don't know how to answer that."

"A job you seem to be well prepared for, you haven't even thought of being anything else. You probably don't care, but I think you're a great alpha just because you can't think of anything else you'd rather do." Again she softly smiled at him, but her smile this time seemed sweeter.

Liam's breathe hitched in the back of his throat. He didn't know he needed her to say those words to him. But he needed them. I think you are a great alpha, those words rang in his head. Coming from her, an omega, he should just push them off right? That's what anyone else would do, right?

"I'm sorry if I over stepped," Serenity noticed his silence, "I should probably..." she trailed off. Check the clothes is what she meant to say, but instead she got nervous. Standing up she started to make her way out of the kitchen.

"Wait," Liam grabbed her by the wrist before she could fully walk out, "can I show you something?"

She turned towards him, "depends, will this something involve me getting injured?"

Laughing he says, "no, at least I hope it won't."

"Ok then, you can."

Not letting her wrist go he pulls her outside, and into the woods. They were not headed in the direction of the wedding, in fact they were headed in a complete different direction.

"There," they finally stopped walking, when Liam pointed up in a tree.

"It's a tree house!" Serenity's face beamed up at the house in the tree.

Liam couldn't help but stare at her while she admired the treehouse, "I built it when I was seven. Jonathan and Lina couldn't keep me from climbing trees, well mostly Lina cared. Jonathan let me climb as high as I wanted, just simply looked up at me from the ground." Liam chuckled remembering when Lina his mother almost had a cow when he climbed all the way to the top of a 10 foot tree.

"You built this yourself?" She looked up at him.

"Yup. This way no one could keep my out of the trees. Now it's used by other kids. The ones that dare to come this deep in the woods. I haven't been here in years," Liam looked around.

"Can we go inside? Will it hold both of our weights?"

He shrugs, "lets see."

With one glance up at the tree serenity takes off for the stares. She only stops when she has climbed to the top of the stares, with a glance back at Liam, she pulled herself up to the deck of the treehouse.

"I guess it will hold both of our weight," Serenity pushed open the door to the treehouse and looked inside.

A flannel blanket along with a few pillows laid in one corner, a small table with two tiny chairs laid up against the far wall, and shelf full of books is placed near the door. The little set up is cute.

"I guess a few kids have found it over the years," Liam smiles at what his treehouse has became a hideout, sanctuary for the packs kids.

"Yes, but smaller than what I imagined," they were both hunched over inside the house.

"You're right," he back up and went back to the deck.

Taking a seat Serenity let her feet hang off in between the bars. She looked up at the sky. The wind gently blows. All in all a peaceful night.

"Why bring me here?" She turned to Liam who sat next to her with his back the railing.

"I don't know. I guess you kind of remind me of the child hood I missed out on." He sighs.

"Child hood you missed out on? You got to build this. I spent most of my childhood being passed around. Going from house to house, until I was finally able to take care of myself, then I got a room in the pack house. Even at 13 I wasn't able to be a child. Had to help out around the pack house, taking care of children that aren't mine, cleaning messes I didn't make." Serenity stopped, "Im not complaining. I am very grateful for everything."

"It sounds like we were both rob of our childhood. I don't blame you for complaining about how our system works, but it does work."

"Yes it does work. Much better than the humans at that. None of us are living out on the streets," Serenity felt at ease next to one of the people she should feel tense around.

Why now, was it easy to talk to him? Why did she want for him to continue talking about his childhood? Why did she want to know everything about him?

Silence stood between the two as neither knew what to bring up next. Serenity didn't want to dig to deep and piss of her alpha, and Liam didn't want to say or so anything that would end up hurting Serenity.

So, they sat in a comfortable silence listening to the wind whistle and the trees rustle.

I personally love this chapter. Idky but I do. I hope y'all love it also!!!
