The Encounter

"Serenity if you walk any slower we're going to be later than we already are!" Mercedes rushed her friend along.

"Maybe if you didn't insist on finding your fur shawl we wouldn't be this late," Serenity cautiously walked. She wasn't accustom to wearing heels.

"It was a fashion emergency! Maybe if you'd walk a little faster we'd get there sooner!" The two bickered all the way to the ballroom.

"Chill. We can't be anymore late then we already are. Let's just play it off," Serenity stopped in front of the double doors.

"Your right, let's just walk in like the bad bitches we are!" She then pushed opened the doors. Music was already playing.

Their presence wasn't even noticed as everyone starred at the couple dancing. They were enchanting. Serenity starred down at the pair. She couldn't help but feel jealous. Why though? Why was she feeling this foreign emotion?

"I guess they're getting quite close," Mercedes stood next to her friend oblivious of her emotions.

"I guess they are," Serenity's voice was barley audible above the music.

Merced's adjusted her mask then grabbed her friends hand, "come on! Let's join the crowd!"

The two ascended down the stair case. Mercedes moved faster than Serenity, meaning she got left behind as her friend joined the sea of people. By the time serenity made it to the bottom of the stair case her friend was no where to be seen. She groaned.

Pushing past people she looked for Mercedes.

The song changed and people lined up to dance. In a rush of things Zoey and Liam were separate and paired with different partners for the dance. Not wanting to be rude Liam abided.

Serenity had also gotten dragged into the crowed of people lining up for the next dance. She cursed under her breathe as she realized she would have to actually dance tonight. Good think she knew the steps to the dance.

Serenity bowed to her partner and he did the same. Then the dance started. They put their hands up and circled each other. Their hands weren't touching. The two starred at each other intensely.

After circling each other for a few times they went back to their starting position and switched hands. Liam starred at the girl standing before him. Her eyes were an ordinary shade of brown. He couldn't make out who she could be with her eccentric mask, but whoever she was she was beautiful.

Now they placed both hands up and circled each other. They didn't touch until the came together and she put her hand on his shoulder and his hand went on her waist while their other hands clasped together.

This somehow felt right. To both of them. Liam tried to find out who the girl was by her scent, but she seemed to be wearing some kind of perfume. All he could smell was the fruity sent mixed in with the slightest scent of honey.

Perfume in his eye should be out lawed. Maybe then he would be able to identify the girl.

They danced for what seemed to be forever in their eyes. To their dismay the had finally needed with them pulling apart and bowing to each other.

The girl turned and had started to walk in the opposite direction. Liam however wasn't going to let her go without knowing her name though, so he followed her.

The girl had disappeared into the sea of people before he knew it. Liam dragged his had through his hair and sighed. Where could she had possibly gone?

He looked all around and walked in a circle. Everyone gave him curious glances. Most wondered if he was looking for Zoey. The fact that he wasn't looking for Zoey would distraught most.

Serenity went on her way. The dance had her on edge. She knew who she was dancing with, but he couldn't recognize her. She panicked and fled the scene looking for Mercedes.

Her heels clicked against the marble floors beneath her and that seemed to be the only sound she heard. The music, along with the people chattering and mingling faded away into the background. All she could hear was the pounding of her heart.

Thump. Thump. Thump thump.

Why was this affecting her so much? She didn't know, but she couldn't breathe. Trapped behind the mask, trapped inside her skin.

Serenity made her way out of the ballroom, and somehow made it outside. The fresh cool air of the night hit her skin and her nerves calmed. She took in deep breathes. 'I'm fine.' She thought. 'It was nothing'. She thought.

This had never happened to her before. She's never been as panicked as she was just now. Serenity looked around taking in her surroundings. Wondering where her feet had a carried her.

The balcony over looked the backyard of the house. She went to the edge and leaned against the cool stone. Back in side, she thought, I don't belong there. I never have and never will. She sighed and held one hand up to her mask. With the other she yanked at the ribbon in the back to untie it. She wanted to be rid of the thing.

"Why did you just run off like that?"

A voice stopped her dead in her tracks. Her hand from behind her dropped but the hand holding the mask remained in its place. She analyzed the voice longer than intended.

"Your scent may be masked with perfume, but that doesn't mean I wouldn't be able to sniff out the perfume," he walked closer to her.

Serenity slyly looked over her shoulder. She didn't want to say a word, for if she spoke he might figure out who she is. He might recognize her voice. So she said nothing but simply- ever so slowly- turned around.

Liam stared at the girl before him. Her caramel colored skin intrigued him. Her light colored hair that flowed down in flawless curls made him want to run his hands through her hair- that of course had to be straight seeing as she re curled it.

He made another move when she turned around. He moved closer to her. He saw her untie her mask from the back. All she had to do now was drop her hand so he could glance upon her flawless features. He wanted to know this girl more than he had ever wanted to know anybody in his life.

Liam couldn't comprehend why he just knew he had to. An urge within him.

"Who are you?" He voices his thoughts out loud, "you can't be from my pack surly I'd notice someone as exquisite as you."

She scoffed under her breathe slightly rolling her eyes.

This amused him, "so you are from my pack?" He read her body language easily. The way her pupil dilated, beads of sweat rolled down her neck, how her lips slightly parted.

She was ready to speak. To defend herself, but she didn't. She simply shook her head.

"Your not from my pack?" Liam asked again. He wanted to know where she came from to find out if they would miss her or not. He wanted to take her. Steal her as a trophy. All for himself. Call him selfish. Call him whatever you wanted, but her you can only call her his.

The music inside seemed to get louder and pulsed through the door. Liam took a step closer once more. Not only to see her reaction but to hear if she did intend to speak. He didn't want to miss a word.

He sighed, "do you know who I am?"

No answer. Liam simply held one hand up to his mask and the other behind his head he yanked at the string and the mask fell off revealing himself.

She didn't even gasp. Of course it was their alpha. Who wouldn't have known?

Liam drug a hand through his hair, "no reaction? No words? No nothing?"

He was almost impressed. No no, he wasn't. He was starting to get annoyed. Everyone is supposed to bend to his will. No one is supposed to escape his grasp.

The door to the balcony opened.

Liams head snapped in the direction. Zoey stood in the door way, "my fathers asking where you ran off to."

He looked back in front of him to see the girl that had previously stood in front of him, but she was no longer there.

"I stepped out for a breathe of fresh air. I'm going back now," Liam put his mask back on and walked inside with Zoey.

The girl still fresh on his mind.

Feed back?
