Zoey had everything planned out. She was a month and a half along and felt it was best to tell Mateo. Along with telling Mateo, she would come out to the pack.

"Hey baby," She walks into his office.

Mateo looks up from the book he had his nose in, "Hey, what's this surprise for?"

Zoey never went into his office. She had it in her mind that it wasn't okay to enter a man's office unless invited in. Her dad's rules, not hers, "do you think we would have time to go to dinner in town?"

He looked down at his watch, "After training, definitely. You've missed the last few days. I know Liam's been running training, but still."

She hmphed, "One more day won't hurt."

"Yes, it will. Even Serenity is out and training with everyone else. No reason that you shouldn't be, now unless you are going to training in that I'd go up and change."

Serenity, of course, was training with everyone else now. Probably with special treatment also. Zoey didn't even want to think of how she'd be treated if she went to training that was supervised by Liam. However, she knew Maeo was right.

She needed to go train with everyone else, "Okay. Afterward, we will go into town? And have dinner?"

Mateo smiled, "of course love."

With that, she turned on her toes and left his office. She went into their room and walked into the split walk-in closet. The two shared everything right down to the T.

On her side of the closet, she has a short dresser opening the last drawer on her dresser and she pulls a white pair of lulu lemon shorts. Stripping out of her current clothes she puts them on and walks out in her sports bra.

Normally she would have gone out like that, but after one look in the bathroom mirror she grabbed an oversized shirt and put it on. Her tummy is evidently swollen with something baking in the oven, and she wasn't quite ready to let everyone know that.

At a month and a half, she was surprised Mateo hadn't started to notice her change. Werewolf pups are born 6 months after conceiving, but with a beta's or alpha's blood, the months are subtracted down to 4 or 5 depending on how strong the blood running through the alpha or beta is.

Meaning the regular werewolf female would start showing around 3 to 4 months, while the alpha or beta's blood makes their females start showing even sooner. For Zoey, the time was narrowing down, and she needed to tell Mateo soon. Before someone else did.

Going downstairs she went up with everyone else.

"Hey, are you training with us again?" Jullianne was the first to greet her.

Zoey resists the urge to roll her eyes. Sucking it up she put on a smile and nods her head, "uhh yeah. Can't be out here getting out of shape!" She nervously laughs.

"Yes, I see you put on a few pounds. It's okay though that will come off quickly." Jullianne smiled at her.

Zoey insecurely rubs her tummy. 'She would eat her words when she has to bow down to me' she thought as she nodded her head agreeing with her.

Liam joins the group looking down at his phone. Without looking up he addresses the crowd, "I'm assuming everyone has already stretched and warmed up seeing as you are all just standing here. Pair up we will be spared today."

Everyone looked around. No one had warmed up, so this was looking to be an interesting practice. Liam hadn't yet looked up from his phone to notice Zoey, but he could smell her.

"Evie and Zoey I am going to go ahead and pair you two up together. As for serenity you are with me," finally he puts his phone in his pocket and looks around.

Zoey crossed her arms. She didn't want to be paired up with Evie. Evie at the age of 20 is 3 months pregnant. Halfway through her pregnancy, she is still required to train, but much lighter than the rest.

No one thought anything of the two being paired up to train other than 'oh she's missed a few practices so she couldn't keep up with the rest of us'.

"Everyone paired up?" He didn't give anyone a chance to answer before he continued to talk, "Okay good. Now spread out.

So we know the left jab," he demonstrated with Serenity throwing out his left arm with no warning in which she had to block, "the right cross counter," he threw a left jab straight towards Serenity's head in which she had to counter with her left hand and threw a right-hand jab immediately after the block, "actually that's what we are going to learn today how to counteract instead of just blocking by putting up you shoulder-high enough to shield."

Liam was quite impressed by Serenity's ability to react quickly and perform advanced techniques. Everyone thought she would receive special treatment, but in fact, he is tougher with her than anyone else, because she especially needed to learn how to handle her own.

If the two were to work out that would mean she is Luna, so many people would be out gunning for her head. Trying to get to her in order to get to him. She would be his weakness and that just couldn't be.

                Practice went pretty smoothly for Zoey. Other than being paired with Evie, not a bad practice. Not a bad practice at all.  

As soon as practice was over she rushed upstairs. Mateo was in their room papers sprawled all over the bed. She smiled at him, "I'm going to shower then we can leave."

Mateo looks up, "yes of course."

Zoey first walks into the closet and pulls out a black dress. Cute, flow, not too casual, and doesn't extenuate her bump. Perfect. Grabbing the dress she runs to the bathroom and hops in the shower.

30 minutes later she's all ready to leave and the two are walking out the front of the packhouse to the barn to get a car. 

"I'm glad you suggested this," they walked hand in hand.

Zoey made sure as to not brush too much against him, "me too. I feel like we could talk."

"Oh really? What about?"

She looked around. The sun was setting and the crickets began to crick. No one was around seeing as it's nine on a school night. It was pretty quiet and empty, "well. . . " she trailed off.

"Is this about the crescent ceremony? If so, we had to push that back because Kensley is not here to plan it. It will happen as soon as she gets back though."

Zoey shook her head, "no I'm not at all worried about that. I'm already yours. It's something else."

"Oh?" he looks down at her, "Did I do something wrong?" whenever she didn't answer he went on, "Is Liam still giving you a hard time?" she still remained silent, "because if he is-" 

She began to tune him out. She really wanted to share the news with him. Did she really want to wait for the 45-minute car ride into town? 

"I'm pregnant!" no no she didn't as she suddenly blurted it out. 

They stopped in front of the bar. Mateo processing what she had just said, but he shook his head, "I think I misheard you."

Shaking her head she looks up at him, "No Mateo. You heard me right. I'm pregnant."

He didn't say anything. Just stood there quietly starring at her. He couldn't believe it. She- She's pregnant. No words could describe how- he searched for the word. For the emotion, he was feeling. 

And then, suddenly he found it. His face turned hard and hot. He is pissed.

"This can't be. Say your lying."

Zoey shook her head, "I'm not lying. Why would I lie about something like this."

Mateo began to pace in front of her. His hand on his chin. 

Him, be a dad? He simply did not want to. Especially not right now. With everything going on in the pack. Although that wasn't the only thing. The real thing blocking his desire to be a father to a child is his own childhood. 

It wasn't a happy one. With his abusive alcoholic dad and fritzy mother, the best thing that had ever happened to him was becoming friends with Liam. 

With Liam having not proclaimed a mate yet, the pack would start to lean towards Mateo. He has a mate and that mate is carrying an heir. A stable future for the pack. 

Mateo didn't want to undermine his friend like that. Sure they were in a rocky patch, but he never had the desire to be alpha. To the rock, everyone leans on. He could not provide the emotional stability the pack needed. 

He shook his head and stopped pacing and looked at her, "how far along are you?" his voice was cold.

"A month and a half," Zoey didn't understand why he was acting like this. Shouldn't he be glad. To reproduce was everything to male wolves. 

He angrily ran his hands through his hair, "why didn't you tell me earlier! Why did you wait?"

She shook her head, "I-I don't know. Why are you acting like this? You should be glad-"

"Pst, glad? Have you ever asked me about the thought of children?"

"Well no," she's taken aback by the whole situation. 

"Well if you did you would no I didn't want children! I despise the grotesque little creatures!" He yelled at her.

Zoey shakes her head, "Don't say that."

"I already did and I'm not taking it back. Zoey, you are un considerate! As to go behind my back before even asking me or even bringing up the idea of children."

Tears welled in her eyes, "Mateo stopped." she grabs his arm and places it on her stomach, "the action that put us in the situation takes two."

He felt her round swollen stomach. It only made him even madder. Grabbing her wrist he dragged her back to the packhouse. The whole time she screamed and shouted for him to let her go. Making such a ruckus. 

As they entered the packhouse a few people came out of their rooms to see what all the ruckus was. Whenever they saw it was just Mateo and Zoey they returned back to their rooms. Liam only came down whenever Zoey was shoved into the room and the door slammed in her face. As she pounded on the door Liam stood there watching Mateo hold the door nob. 

"Whats going on?" 

Mateo turned around, "I-"

Liam sighed whenever tears began to fall from his friend's eyes, "she finally told you?"

Letting go of the door nob he looks at his friend, "You knew?"

"Yes," he nods his head, "but only because there was an incident between her and Serenity. She let it slip to keep her from getting into too much trouble. I did look further into it though. She is pregnant and it is yours."

Mateos back his the wall and he slid down it. His knees came to his chest and his hands found their way to tangle in his hair, "this can't be happening."

"Well it is mate," Liam took a seat next to him, "and she's not the only one to blame. You knew you didn't want kids. I don't understand why you didn't take the precautions so you wouldn't ever have kids."

He looked up at him, "We just never discussed the topic of children. I don't know what would possess her to-"

"If you say get pregnant I am going to slap you," Liam laughs, "Sex leads to pregnancy, my friend."

Mateo bangs his head against the wall, "I know. I know."

"Now you gotta deal with the consequences. She's pregnant and you're going to have a baby."

"This was never my intention you must know."

Liam held up his hand, "I know. I knew how strong your desire to not have children was. After your father. I understood and still wanted you to be my right-hand man, even if you would produce no heirs to take your spot. That however wasn't my concern. I just wanted someone I could trust, and here right now you are showing me I can trust you. The girl you choose to stand beside you, however."

Mateo nods his head, "I don't know what to do with her. We've already gone too far."

"No, you haven't. I will fix this."

"How?"

Liam put his hand on his friend's shoulder, "trust me I will. I just need to know what lengths you are willing to go to in order to fix this."
