"I Liam Pierce, challenge you, Alpha Jonathan," everyone stood in awe as Liam, the child Alpha Jonathan and Luna Evangeline raised, challenged Jonathan for the alpha title.

Liam challenged Jonathan in front of the whole pack. Something that neither of them could walk away from. The whole pack seemed to be holding their breathe as they waited for Jonathan's answer.

It had only been a day that Liam had been back. From the moment he got back they knew he was changed, no longer the innocent little boy they had all came to love.

Liam's once fair skin is now tan from long days in the sun. His hair that was always kept well groomed, grew out into long strands that go past his ears. His face is scruffy from not being shaved, but his eyes showed that he was truly the same Liam they all knew. He still had the same bright blue eyes. They held the same shine letting some know, the ones that truly knew him, that he is still the same child that they loved.

They also told of a story. His story. How his mother died during childbirth. How his father committed suicide shortly after his mother's death, but most importantly they told his true story. Not the fantasized one that everyone knew, but the one where Jonathan and Evangeline raised him as their own. Showing him nothing but love, Care, and compassion.

His eyes showed his true self. Not the self that he let everyone sees on in his human skin, but they see him behind his human skin. Behind his mask.

"I, Jonathan, accept your challenge," the crowed released a breathe. The day everyone had been waiting for was here, but they didn't expect it to go down like this. They didn't expect Liam to challenge Jonathan for the title. The pack would soon come to know Liam's way of being a leader.

"Alpha Jonathan you have accepted Liam's challenge. Everyone here knows what that means. You two will fight to the death, or until one of you forfeits," the wind sweeps around the two picking up leaves and blowing south. The air is filled with tense pressure as everyone's eyes are on the two. Alex, Jonathan's beta tells them the rules that no one knew well enough.

Jonathan and Liam nod their head then shake hands. They back up from each other. Their pack mates made a wide circle around them as to not let anyone get out or get in. Pack guardsmen are on the inside of the circle, so no innocent bystanders get injured during their battle.

Jonathan is the first to make a move as the two circle around each other. He shifts into his wolf. Liam followed in pursuit and the battle began. They both relinquish full power to the stronger part of themselves, that being their wolfs.

Each attacked the other at different angles. Liam being younger and stealthier goes strait for this kill, attempting to latch his jaw around Jonathan's neck. Jonathan however being older tried a more disabling method.

He went for his tail grabbing from under neath Liam and pulling making him stumble. Jonathan then went in and tried to attach his jaw to his hind leg. Liam however is quick on his feet and snarls at Jonathan. All the while Luna Evangeline watches the scene unfold.

This is her first fight for power she has seen. She is human. Only being let into the werewolf fantasy world, because she is Alpha Jonathan's mate.

Evangeline didn't flinch as her mate got his leg snapped in half by her son. She didn't cringe as her mate clawed at her son making three gashes across his back. She just watched the scene unfold. She watched like she already knew the outcome.

Jonathan limped around the circle while Liam stood on defense growling at his father. While in the circle he is not Liam.

His eyes glowed yellowed as the beast within took over gaining more and more power. The yellow glowing eyes showed what he wanted everyone to see. They showed the beast. He wanted everyone to know his cruel desires. He needed everyone to know to never cross him.

Liam attacked Jonathan again, once again going in for the kill and trying to lock his jaw around Jonathan's neck. The only thing racing around in his mind as he attacked the only father he knows was, kill or be killed.

Jonathan fell to the ground as Liam clawed at his upper body making large gashes. Using his hind legs Jonathan kicked Liam off then made an attack of his own locking his jaw around his leg. Only when he went to snap it in half had Liam grabbed his tail and was already dragging him off and swinging him around by his tail.

Jonathan's body flew out of the circle and hit a tree when Liam finally decided to let go of his tail. Jonathan looked up from his position on the forest ground floor. Did he really want to continue the battle? The answer was yes. He got back up and limped towards his son.

The crowd split letting him back in.

Luna Evangeline at this point wanted to stop the fight. She wanted to stop the two males that she loved dearly from killing each other, but she didn't. She stood on the side lines waiting, hoping that the fight would soon be over. Evangeline didn't care who won, as long as they both left the battle alive.

Liam and Jonathan went back at it when Jonathan entered the circle. The battle being far from over.

Liam didn't want to hurt his father, but he had no other choice. He didn't want to get the pack the easy way. He wanted this fight. He needed this fight. This fight was to show all that he is, and will be a strong alpha male.

The fight is how he gained the trust of the pack.

             Among the crowd of the pack members is a a seventeen year old girl, named Serenity. Serenity watched the two males fight for power and couldn't help but think what it was like to have power in the first place. She's at the bottom of the food chain, being an omega.

But oh how she loved to dream. Serenity sometimes loved to fantasize over being at the top of the food chain. To not take anyone's crap. One day she thought, she'd come back and throw it all in their face. Today however was not that day.

She watched the males in awe. She also admired Liam. He had been back but a day and already he had already challenged their alpha for his position. Everyone including herself had been expecting alpha Jonathan to just hand the title over to Liam, but to her- along with everyone else- surprise a pack meeting was held just so Liam could challenge his father for his power.

Liam struck Jonathan down one last time, before Jonathan yielded. The former alpha has gashes across his pack, a broken leg, torn ear, and his fur is covered in blood. As for Liam he had minor injuries.

The two males shifted and few people went forward to hand the two some clothes, Serenity being forced to hand Alpha Liam his clothes. For a second he held her glaze, then she looked down. His eyes still slightly glowed yellow, beneath is blue orbs.

Alpha Liam took the clothes and stood up. Jonathan however took the clothes, then bowed on one knee. As if clock work everyone mimicked his action.

Everything remained silent as Liam looked over the crowd of bowing pack members, "everyone rise," the pack followed his words.

"Praise Alpha Liam!" The former Beta howled out. Everyone tilted their heads to the sky and howled.

"This day marks a new beginning!" Liam voiced boomed around the people.

"Alpha Liam, you get to choose your Beta, and Gamma now," Liam shook his head at Jonathan's words.

"I will not choose who the Beta is. They will choose for themselves. I call forward Mateo Alford and Kensley Santiago," a male and female stepped out of the crowed and into the circle, "You two have the chance to be my second in command, but only if your strong enough. Do you accept the challenge?"

"I accept the challenge," they both said in unison.

"Very well then. The last one standing can have the title," and with that Liam walked out the circle and into the crowd leaving the guy and girl to decide for themselves what to do.

"I, Kensley Santiago, challenge you, Mateo Alford, for the Beta position," the girl was first to challenge the guy.

"I, Mateo Alford, accept your challenge," Serenity identified the two as Liam's Best friends. They are both about equal in power since they train together. The down side in that is they already know the others move.

Mateo started to circle Kensley, "no hard feeling when I win right?" He smirked displaying his cocky attitude.

"You mean when I win?" And with that the female strikes first jumping up and shifting mid air.

Soon both were in werewolf form. The battle between the two was interesting and kept everyone on their feet going back and forth. In the end however Mateo triumphed in victory.

He held Kensley down with his paw and tilted his head up towards the sky to howl. Mean while Kensley laid on the ground covered in blood, with a broken leg and arm, her upper has three huge gashes, and her snout as a wound that oozed blood.

Mateo is just as badly injured. He has fur missing from tail along with patches here and there from where Kensley ripped out fur, gashes along his sides, and a ripped ear.

Lima stepped into the circle, "give it up for Beta Mateo everyone," a simultaneous bow of the head went through the whole pack as the acknowledged their new Beta.

Serenity once again stepped toward to give their new Beta a change of clothes as he shifted. Liam eyes the girl cautiously.

This will probably be the longest chapter in the book. Also, welcome to my new book. For those of you that have follow me over from my other books I would like to say bare with me as I try a new writing style.
