Epilogue
Six years later
"Evangeline it's time," I shook my head breaking down in tears.
"No, let's try again," Jonathan shook his head patting my back.
"We've tried for the past six years, honey. It time to tell the pack, and they will accept Liam as our heir he's one of us," I shook my head.
"They won't accept it! They're all going to hate me, I have failed them!" I sobbed into my pillow.
"They're not going to hate you, they will understand," a knock at the door made me sit up and frantically while my face. Liam walked in our room a smile planted on his face.
I looked over at Jonathan and he nodded his head, "aunty have you been crying?" He sat next to me and gently brought his hand to my face. My sweet sweet boy.
"I'm not crying," I said smiling and bringing my hand to touch his.
"Liar! Is it because I'm ten today?" I nodded my head.
"Yes, oh how you've grown! My sweet sweet boy," I scooped him up panting kisses all over him. He giggles.
"Stop aunty stop! Your not going to embarrass me at my birthday party today right?" I let him out of my grasp and smirked.
"I haven't decided yet," he looked up at Jonathan with pleading eyes.
"Don't let her in my party ok?" I laughed and mimicked an expression of hurt.
"No can do little guy, I have to sleep with her. She might suffocate me in my sleep," he said with a wink. I playfully punched his arm as he ruffled Liam's hair.
"We still have a few arrangements to make. Do you want to go with me to get your cake?" I asked.
"Yes! Let's go, let's go, let's go!" Liam yanked my arm trying to get me up.
"Ok ok, go grab my keys and wait for me in the car," with a nod of his head he dashed down stairs and I starred after him standing up.
Jonathan came up behind me and wrapped his arms around my small frame, "tonight we will announce the news."
I sighed, "ok," after pecking Jonathan on the cheek I walk down the stairs going to the garage. Hopping in my car I smile as Liam excitedly bounces up and down in the passengers seat.
"Hurry let's go get the cake!" I shifted gears and pulled out of the garage heading towards town.
"So, Liam," started a conversation turning down the radio.
"Yes, auntie?"
"You know what Jonathan is going to give you as your birthday present?" Liam became quite and sat still. The rest of the car ride we sat in silence with the hum of the radio.
"Happy birthday to you, happy birthday to you, happy birthday dear Liam, happy birthday to you!" Everyone screeched. My smile widened as all his friend sang, "you smell like a money and look like one to!"
The cake is distributed along with the cupcakes and cookies. The adults sip on red wine and alcohol while their children gorge on sweets. Jonathan zigzags through the crowd coming to my side.
'After presents or before presents?' He mind links me. He places his arms on my waist.
'After,' I said back wanting to delay the event for as long as possible. Jonathan nods his head and walks over to Parker and Alex who were causing mischief among the kids. I smiled over at them.
Looking around I located Leah and Harley, and walked towards them. They were hunched over laughing about something, "can I be let in on the joke?"
They both sobered up, "Evangeline! You've been so busy we haven't talked in a while!" Harley crushed me in a hug.
"I know, I know," Liam comes running to me.
"Linaaaaaaaaaaa!" He runs into my legs making me unbalanced. I fall over, "oops!" Liam pulls me up in one swift move.
"Liam!" I scold.
"You can blame Jonathan! He told me to come ask you if I could open presents now!" I shake my head.
"Wait a few more minutes," Liam stomped his foot.
"Why?" I shook my head at his whining.
"Because I said so, now go bother someone else," Liam ground and I laughed.
"Pleaseeeeee!" I sighed.
"Fine whatever," Liam jumped in the air with a fist held high.
"Yes!" He ran over to the gift table gaining everyone attention. I made my way next to Jonathan dread the end of the presents opening.
Jonathan took my had hand in his squeezing it tightly. Thirty minutes went by, then forty, and at last fifty. He opened his last present Jonathan and I walked in front of the whole crowd that had gathered to see what he got.
Liam looked up at his his face sober showing no emotion.
"Liam, Evangeline have one last present to present you," Jonathan pulled out and box and I followed in suit. Everyone went quite. I was first to give my box to Liam.
"It was your mother's. You can give it to whoever you want," with one last look at me Liam opened the box.
"This was also you mothers," Jonathan gave him his box.
"And the last present is for you all," I said hanging my head and facing the crowd.
"Liam, when you come of age and have found your mate. You will be the alpha of this pack," Jonathan turns to face the pack, "My Mate Evangeline is barren."
