I sighed. It was the last day of thanksgiving break and I was stuck at a woman's clinic. Out of all the randomness of this break I ended up here, after them calling me from the last time I was in the hospital and referring me here. My dad of course insisted on making me an appointment for today.

I was the only one left in the clinic due to it was five in the after noon and they we're minutes away from shutting down, but I have yet to see the doctor. I sigh in defeat.

At last the nurse opened the door leading to the back of the clinic and looked at me. I stood up and followed her back. Since I was the only one left I knew it had to be me. Unless Casper is a woman and I've been lied to when watching Casper the friendly ghost. Wait did I assume Casper's gender. Dammit I'm sorry Casper!

I was lead to a room in the back when the nurse instructed for me to wait. I sat on the plastic wrapped chair and waited patiently for the doctor to come, looking around at all the posters on the wall. I sighed as minutes dragged on. In this unfortunate event I would be on my oh so dead phone, if only I had a portable charger. Not to self  'buy portable charger'.

At long last the female doctor walks into the room with a Manila folder. She sits in the blue rolling chair that was tucked underneath the wall table. Sitting quietly she looks through the files and then up at me with a sigh, "I'm dying aren't I?" My question followed her sigh.

"Lucky for you, you are not in fact dying," I smile, "but, there is most definitely something wrong."

I frown, "what's wrong?"

"Your eggs aren't getting fertilized properly. Which in turn would make it quite impossible or not at all possible for you to reproduce," my eye brows crease.

"What are you saying?"

"I'm saying menopause happened early for you, it's a hereditary thing that could've been passed on by your mother or your mothers mother. There are a few things we can do if you do wish to conceive," wow ok I'm an only lady at the age of 18! No offense to old people your amazing!

"What can I do?"

"If you can not conceive within the next year or so we can try hormone therapy," the question cane to mind, did I want children. Sure, I love them and everything, but was it in my best interest. My mother died during child birth after having complications with for ten months. I sigh.

"A year?" She nods and stands up.

"A year. If you have anymore questions call, but other than that you are free to leave," she walked out the room and I stayed put for a minute thinking.

It wouldn't be the end of the world if I wasn't able to have babies, was it? It isn't like Im queen Mary and need an heir to my throne. With that last though I stood and walked out of the office and to my car where I had a charging port. My phone lied in the passengers seat charging while I drove around town thinking about this baby problem.

I finally came out of thought when my phone started to ring. I picked it up from passengers seat and answered it with a dull 'hello'.

"Hey honey. Are you done with your doctors appointments?"

"Yes," I come to a stop at a red light.

"Good, do you mind coming home then? It's important."

"Ok dad I'll be there in ten minutes," after we both said goodbye we hung up.

I swear if he tells me he's gonna marry Alice after me just meeting her this is going to be the worst day in history. I sigh and pull back around going in the opposite direction.

             "Dad I'm home!" The front door shuts behind me. On the right side of the door laid a suit case and over night bag. I questioned them as I went into the kitchen.

"Hey sweetie," Alice sat down next to my dad who was standing up.

"Um, you needed to tell me something?" I questioned.

"Yes, now don't freak out."

"Dad by telling me not to freak out I'm going to freak out!" I told him throwing my hands up in the air.

"Ok I'll just come out and say it then. Marie is no longer working for us," my eyes widened.

"What why not?!"

"She found a different job with a different family, because she is no longer needed here. We have Alice now!" I frowned.

"I didn't even get to say good bye."

"Don't worry honey she only moved two towns over. I'm sure she'll visit," I nod, "on a different note, I will be going out of town. I need to make arrangements for someone to take over my truck."

"Why don't you let the business handle that?" My eyebrows creased.

"Because, it's my business."

"Since when? You never tell me anything," he chuckles.

"You never ask, but I will be leaving tomorrow morning."

I nod, "how long will you be gone?"

"I don't know exactly. Alice here will be keeping an eye on you while I am gone though. Not like you need it, but just some reassurance for me," my frown deepens.

"Ok dad."
