Chapter Twenty
Michael's POV
I looked at my sleeping mate and held his hand in mine. I didn't know what to expect when I came here this morning and I didn't know what to feel from what Justice had just told me. I thought I had lost my mate but that wasn't the case. My instincts said I should hate Justice for coming in our lives but I couldn't even convince myself that that was the issue here. I was conflicted in so many ways.
I released his hand and brushed off few stray tears. I had to wait on Cadmael to wake up and confirm what I was told. A part of me still feared the rejection would come and only Cadmael would ease my worries.
"Dad," Theo called when he got in the room. I looked up at him and he smiled.
"Uncle Elijah is on the phone." He said and I got up.
"Look after him, don't leave him alone. I will be in my bedroom." I told Theo and left the room.
I went upstairs to my room and picked up my phone on the desk as I sat on my bed then dialed Elijah's number.
"What the fuck Michael! You missed my baby's birth and welcome party." Elijah shouted on the phone.
"It's good to finally talk to you too cousin." I said with sarcasm.
"Don't joke with me that was serious! But how is everything?" He inquired.
"Everything is okay now. I'm sorry I only left you an email with not much info to where I was and why I left."
"Yes about that, I think you have something to tell me. I will come any day there but how is Cad?"
"He's okay now." I smiled.
"Alright then, I will call in later; I have to check on my family." Elijah announced. I chuckled and after saying farewell to each other, I ended the call.
I got my laptop from my desk and started working on my emails. There were a lot as I had not checked for a while. I was glad to see that work in the company had not seized. Everything was going as it was supposed to. But there was still a lot of work for me. And that was how I spent the day, in my room with my laptop.
Theo came to give me lunch as well as dinner. I made sure Justice was getting his food as well. There was still no news on Cad so I didn't go down to check on him. I planned to stay the night in his room so I had to finish as much work as I could before going downstairs.
"~Dad, your mate is awake!~" Theo informed me through the link and I immediately got up and out of my room.
"~Did you inform Justice as well? If not, send someone to inform him!~" I stated.
"~He had dinner in Cad's room. He's already down here.~" He said and I cut off the link.
I opened the door without knocking and got in. I frowned at the sight before me. Cadmael was eating and there was a lot of food before him. Theo, Ashton and Justice were just looking at him amused. By how busy my mate was, I bet he didn't even heard me come inside the room nor sensing I was here.
"What's happening?" I asked Theo.
"Your pregnant mate feeding the pups, he was really hungry." He said with a smirk. Him and Ashton excused themselves and left the room to us three. We remained in silence until Cad finished eating. Alec came and collected the empty plates and when he left I spoke.
"Cadmael I-" I started to say but he cut me off.
"Apology accepted, Mike." Cad smirked.
"Yeah right, um, thanks." I murmured then asked, "How are you now?"
"I'm good-"
"Not yet but almost good." Justice cut in. Cad and I looked at him and he just shrugged.
"Mike, I hope you know that Justice is my mate and I've accepted him as one too." Cad said glancing at me and I nodded for him to go on. "I don't know how this will work, I have no idea. But can we guys make things work between us all? Now that Justice is here, I want us to be happy together." He stated.
"I don't really mind adding Justice in our lives-"
"But I'm not here to stay, Cadmael. I'll be leaving in a few days." Justice said cutting my speech short.
"What? Why?" Cad frowned at Justice.
"I have duties in my kingdom. If I stay here for too long, it may endanger you guys and the family as well as the pack." Justice explained but Cad seemed to not get what he was saying.
Justice explained in details about his life at the kingdom and how it wasn't smart to defy the royals. By the time he was done, Cad was seething.
"They can't separate us, Justice; I need you by my side." He cried then both Justice and I stood at the same time. We each took a seat on each side of Cad to comfort him.
"I'm sorry Cadmael." Was all Justice could say.
"I hate those royals." Cad repeatedly said that until he fell asleep, my hand in his and his head was leaning on Justice's chest.
"Carry him to your room. I'm sure he doesn't need this room much anymore. I'll be in my room." I stated.
"I thought you would spend the night with him, I-"
"Justice, do as I say. I think it will do you both good to spend the days you have here together as much as you can. Spend the night with him." I assured him and then opened the door for him as he walked out of the room with Cad in his arms.
I followed him to his room and opened the door for him as well. He laid Cad on the bed and I came forward to wish him a good night. I kissed his forehead and whispered, "goodnight, angel."
"You know his wolf's name?" Justice asked.
"No."
"It's Angel."
"Oh, really? I nicknamed Cad as Angel. I used to call him Angel. I just thought the name matched him." I sighed and moved away from the bed.
"Used to?"
"Yeah, long story. Good night, Justice." I said and left.
I went on to my room and showered. I dried my wet body and got in bed without putting anything on. I just didn't feel like wearing anything at the moment. I closed my eyes and let sleep carry me away to a dreamless land.
***
"How was your night, guys?" I asked Cad and Justice.
I was up so early in the morning today. I had to remove some things in Cad's medical room and add some others. Cad was ready to pop out the pups any day now. So I had to prepare the room for that moment. I stopped working there when Cad demanded my presence in the kitchen for breakfast.
"It was great." Justice said as he cooked while getting instructions from our mate.
"Yeah it was." Cad agreed.
At last they were done cooking and we had our breakfast. We didn't talk much since Cad would glare at me and Justice if we talked. When we were done, I cleaned the plates as Justice and Cad left the kitchen for outside. Cad's feet were giving him problems and so Justice volunteered to massage them for him. They were outside on the glass and I was to join them after cleaning.
"~Alpha, we have finished.~" Manuel, one of the two guys I was working with in the medical room linked me.
"~Good. You can leave.~" I told him and they did just that.
I joined the others outside and apart from the massage; we helped Cad do some light excises that was recommended by the doctor. It wasn't until lunch time when Theo called us for lunch that we went back inside. I carried Cad inside to which he protested but I did it anyway.
"I'm full." Cad announced, standing up from his seat.
"But you didn't eat much." Ashton protested.
"No I'm fine, I had enough." He said. "Can someone help me to my room? I want to sleep."
"Ashton, go with him to Justice's room." I told him and he escorted Cad out of the room.
We continued lunch with a lot of chatter. Theo told me about the meeting that Cad attended with the pack and I was glad my pack responded positively to Cad. Ashton joined us later on and informed us that Cad was sleeping.
After lunch, I decided to take a walk with Justice. I was curious to know more about him since Cad made it clear that Justice was now included in our lives.
"I haven't had any relationship with anyone. I thought it was useless and a complete waste of time." Justice answered my question. We were on our walk and I had asked if there had been someone else in his life.
"So you are-"
"A virgin? Yes I am." He said finishing my thought. I chuckled when I saw he was embarrassed and even blushing.
"I think it is great." I smiled at him and we talked a bit more about other simple things.
"So are you planning to come back to us? I understand you have to leave now but can you come back?" I asked hopefully, if not for my sake then for Cad's.
"At the moment, I don't have any plans of coming back here."
"What? You can't just leave forever, Justice! Or I will definitely come looking for you with Cad."
"You won't do such thing, Michael!" He raised his voice and I scowled.
He sighed, stopped walking and stood before me.
"You have to understand, Michael, you should never come back to that place. Those people keep me captive and I know them very well. They are evil people. They can kill whatever stands in their way. If I leave that place, they would destroy this pack and the family for me. I don't want that." He explained in a pleading tone, desperate for me to understand him.
I wanted to insist that he come live with us but I sighed. There was no use risking a lot of people's lives in this. I didn't agree on Justice living with the royals forever and for that, I would look for a way to rescue him but for now, I had to give up.
"I trust you, Justice. I know you will find a way to come back. This is your home and I hope you will always remember your way back home to me and Cad." I expressed. I just had to trust the man before me even if I couldn't understand what we had. So far, he has not given me a reason to not trust him.
"Thank you, Michael." He said hugging me.
"~Dad! It's Cad. He's in labour!~"
I took hold of Justice's hand and we ran back to the house together. When we got there, Cad was already in his medical room. The pack doctor was checking on him.
"How is it doctor?" I panicked when the doctor didn't say anything. She kept checking Cad and I almost believed that something might have gone wrong.
"Don't worry, Alpha. He's okay with no complications, he will be fine." She finally said and I breathed deeply in relief.
"I'll stand outside and you can be in here with him." I told Justice.
"What? Why? This moment is really important to you, I know."
"Yes it is but that's why you have to be here. This special moment is a gift from me to you. Take care of our mate, Justice. I'll be outside waiting." I didn't let him argue with me on that decision as I left the room and sat outside on a chair.
If Justice was leaving, he should at least have these special memories of his time here. Perhaps such memories would help him come back to us. I had many more special moments with Cad and the pups in future that I wouldn't mind missing their birth.
