Michael's POV

A year after visiting my mate spiritually, Katherine and I were on our way from town. It was my mate's birthday and I was happy I now had two more years to wait because I was waiting for him to turn ten years of age before taking him away from his home. However, something she said removed the smile that had been on my face since the morning of that day.

"You do realize that your mate is a boy, right? This totally means he won't be able to give you any children. You will hurt your mate by taking a female to bear you children."

I stopped walking and slumped down in defeat. I really loved my mate and knowing I would hurt him only brought tears in my eyes. As the best friend that she was, she offered to help me. She promised to make a spell that would help my mate to be able to bear children. She was a powerful witch and I had no doubt that she could make it happen.

During the next full moon, she performed the ritual and I only had to believe her words that it worked. She said the ritual would not hurt or inflict pain on my mate. I was glad when she told me it was successful and my mate could get pregnant.

In the following month was when she called me to meet her and do what I promised her. I owed her two favors for what she did to me and my mate. We met at a hotel room and it wasn't strange because she had been to my room before. Sometimes she could sleep there, it was completely normal to us.

"I want you to have sex with me." She stated when we were seated on the bed.

I choked and coughed for a bit once I heard that. I placed the glass of water I was drinking, down and looked at her in horror. She knew that I never wished to sleep with anyone beside my mate. She insisted that was the only way to repay her favours and I had no choice but to sleep with her.

Two months later, she came to me crying. She explained about missing her period and then discovering she was pregnant. She said I was the father and had to take care of her. When her father found out I got her daughter pregnant, he was furious. He came to my parents and declared that I had to mate her daughter.

"No, I will not mate with her." I refused the moment he declared the abomination act.

"You have no say in this pup! You slept with my daughter and you have to be responsible for her." His father yelled at me.

"I have a mate that I will claim in time. I can't get to be with your daughter."

"I will kill you if you don't mate with my daughter." His father threatened but I stood my ground.

He was a powerful wizard, leader of their coven and he got away with his threats on my life. My parents even tried to make me give up on my mate in order to save my life but I refused. His father got angry and was in the mid of saying a spell to kill me, when his son Brian interrupted.

"You can't kill him father. He is the father of your grandchild and you can't punish him/her to grow up without a father." Brian spoke to his father.

"He disrespected me and our coven by rejecting my daughter." His father seethed.

"He refuses to mate with sister because he has a mate. You should understand and respect that as well. He will take care of sister but will not take her as a mate." Brian reasoned with him.

"Your mate is that important to you huh?" I nodded with a smile not knowing the evil man was cooking evil plans. "Then I will make it that you will never find your mate easily. The mating call will be muted and his scent hidden. You will know your mate only when you have skin contact with them." He cursed and left our house.

At first there was nothing but a week after; I could no longer feel my mate's presence. This feeling wasn't much but it was what I had with my mate, something that assured me that I was not mateless and now it was taken away from me.

Even when I asked Katherine for help to remove the curse on me, she refused. She told me she couldn't but deep inside my heart, I knew she lied to me. She was the most powerful witch in her coven, even more than her father and nothing to her was impossible.

Time went by and I slowly forgot about the curse. Katherine moved in with me in the pack house but I never touched her again. She tried to seduce me but I couldn't even get aroused. She tried everything to win my heart over but my heart belonged to my mate. Eventually she gave up and we both waited for her to deliver the baby.

When she gave birth to the baby, my heart went out to him and I knew I would love the child no matter who his mother was. Days after she gave birth, her father came to take her home seeing there was no future between her daughter and I. It was the last time I saw her face and only heard about her death from Brian. I felt bad for losing a friend and I also got relief for losing a burden.

Two years later when I turned 18, I became Alpha even without a mate because my father wanted to retire. When it was time to renew our truce between the coven and our pack, I refused. I then banned any witch to come on our lands. I no longer trusted any witches and I didn't like magic anymore.

I eventually accepted that I was cursed when I came up empty after looking for my mate and so my purpose became to raise my child in a happy home and lead the pack. I tried to stay happy for Theo but a mate is a mate and nothing I did filled up the hole in my heart. I couldn't abandon my son and go in longer search for my mate. I just believed in my heart that if we were meant to be, it will happen. I moved from the pack house and built a home somewhere else because the pack house had many of Katherine's memories.

"So did the ritual work?" Cad asked when I finished telling him about Katherine.

"I don't know and that's why yesterday I tried to tell you we shouldn't have sex without a condom." I told him and he shrugged.

"Who knows if it worked or not? Maybe she was just lying to you like it worked."

"Katherine wouldn't lie to me." I defended instantly but then regretted I did so when he looked hurt for a bit.

"I will go up for a shower," he hurriedly stood and left the room before I could protest.

I groaned knowing I'd messed up. I quickly followed him and found him already in the bathroom. I knocked on the door and asked him to open up since it was locked but he refused. I knocked and shouted my apologies over and over until he finally opened the door.......with no clothes on. I swallowed hard and managed to keep my eyes on his face.

"Don't ever try to defend her again. She was wrong by sleeping with you and also using magic to get what she wanted. She acted like she was helping but in true sense she was only helping herself to get her hands on you." He said and I could only nod to show I understood as well as agreed with him.

"Good. Now, can you join me and help me wash my back?" He asked with a smirk and I nodded. He pulled me inside by the collar and I obediently followed.

"What did the witches mean I have Katherine in me or more like her soul in me? Do you know how or why?" My angel asked as we lied on the bed in each other's arms after the shower.

"I have no idea what he meant." It was part lie and part truth because I really didn't know why Katherine had to put her soul in my mate. I only knew how and that was told to me by Brian at how she put it in my mate during the ritual she claimed was to help my mate bear a child and whatever ritual she did after she gave birth to Theo.

My phone beeped and I picked it up and found a text from Brian. It was short and simple as it clearly stated that I have to read the emails he had sent me. I untangled myself from my angel and got up. I sat on the chair by the desk and switched on my laptop so that I should check out the emails. I found seven new emails but I opened the one from Brian first since the others were mostly about work.

'Alpha Michael, a long time ago, a prophecy was told among covens. It was of the child that will have greatest powers than any other witch before. The powers could be used in light but darkness could also conquer it. It was not mentioned of whom exactly will give life to the child but it was only told that the powerful high priestess will mother the child. I'm sure you already know about the twin covens. The two high priestess from each coven were known to be powerful than other priestesses. So we were not sure of who, between the two, will give birth to the child as prophesied. Katherine was afraid to give birth to such child because of the power the child will have. She was powerful and having a powerful child would only corrupt her. Too much power can turn ones pure heart to evil and darkness. It was dangerous to have such child in her life. In order to avoid the prophecy, she sacrificed herself. But powerful witches don't just die and disappear because their soul lives on. Katherine chose your mate as the carrier of her soul because it was the person you loved most. My sister loved you but you could not return that love to her. Her soul could only be in peace if it rested in your mate and it was to avoid anyone evil from possessing it for no one knew where your mate resided. When father cursed you, it was also to punish my sister. Father said love was what made my sister too soft and he felt insulted when he found out she chose to rest her soul in a werewolf's body. The guardian's lives were destined to protect the now purest soul which is now resting in Cadmael's body.'

I finished reading the email and quickly typed a reply, asking about if Theo was anyhow related to the prophecy. Brian's response was that when she had Theo, she had half of her soul in her and the other already in Cadmael. Theo could not be the child from the prophecy. I sighed in relief and closed the laptop.

Katherine's coven is called the new light forest and their twin coven is called the old dark forest. If the child is to be born from their twin coven priestess, it meant she would possess great powers and no one could defeat them. With no Katherine, the new light forest coven was powerless and so the presence of Katherine's soul was a huge threat to the other coven.

This was war and Cad had to learn to use his magic for protection. He needed good teachers to teach him how to use magic and his guardians were the best I could think of. I had to find them and bring them in our pack. But before everything, I had to tell Cadmael about this so that he should know and understand what we may go against.
