Chapter Seventeen
Michael's POV
I groaned and stretched as I got off the bed. I've never had such a good night sleep like that before. It just showed how tired I was with the journey and now that I felt better, I looked forward to meeting the King of this place and going back home to my mate.
I felt kind of lightheaded on my feet and fell back on the bed. I managed to sit up again and looked around the room; it looked very different from last night. After feeling a bit stronger, I stood up again and this time I managed to stand still.
It was odd since it felt as if I haven't walked for some time, yet I've been doing that a lot for the last weeks. Or perhaps it was an effect due to walking long distances. I took a step and then another until I got the hang of it. I steadily walked to the bathroom and was about to wash my face when I gasped in shock.
"What the fuck?" I exclaimed at the foreign look on me. I had grown hair that shouldn't have been there since I shaved last night. Besides it wouldn't grow this much overnight; unless if Brian thought it was funny to mess with me and used some magic on me.
"Brian!" I called out as soon as I heard the door to the room open. I walked out of the bathroom and matched to where I smelled him.
"Brian, how dare you-"
"Oh my goodness! You are awake!" He exclaimed happily and ran to me then embraced me. I was thrown off guard by the action that I just stood there in confusion. Why was he happy that I woke up? I was sure that didn't call for a celebration.
"I'm so sorry that it happened. It was my entire fault for not telling you earlier."
"Good thing you've apologized. Or else I would have punched you in the face." I said with a chuckle. It was really good that he was apologizing for using his spell on me to make my hair grow this much.
"I'm glad you've understood. I didn't expect you to figure it out this early."
"I'm not stupid, Brian."
"Okay then; the king promised to talk to us the moment you wake up. Since you've been sleeping for almost three weeks now, take your time in the bathroom but hurry up." He said as he walked around his room, packing things in his bag.
"Wait, what?" I asked after not getting a part of his sentence.
"What?" He frowned.
"You said I've slept for how long?"
"Almost three weeks." He replied and my mind went blank. I was confused at what he meant by that.
Then it clicked; the growing hair, the uneasiness on my feet and the change around the room. I've been sleeping for three weeks? No, please don't make it be true. I looked at Brian and suddenly I felt so angry. I growled and pinned him to the wall by the neck; the hand that was around his neck transforming slowly in claws.
"Explain!" I growled.
"I-I....my neck M-Mich..I-" he tried to say but I guess my hold on his neck was too much. I didn't care at the moment as all I wanted was to kill him right now. How dare he keep me here all this time? Didn't he know how important it was for me to go back home?
Suddenly, my body was flying off in the air and I crashed in a wall. I got up and growled at the intruder who dared to throw me off Brian. There were two look alike as the other attended to a now unconscious Brian and the other stood guard before them.
"Stay out of this." I warned as I started approaching them.
"No. You have to calm down. Or else I will use my magic on you." The guard said and I scoffed. I lunged at them and before I got there, I was halted in midair. I felt a strong hit to my head and everything went black.
***
I opened my eyes and closed them again. Then I slowly opened them as I got used to the light. I looked at my side and found that I was alone in my room. I got off the bed and headed to the bathroom. I took off my clothes and made myself a bath. After an hour of scrubbing my body clean and shaving, I got out and dressed myself.
I walked to the kitchen and found Brian and the twins, Jeremy and Jeremiah. I took a sit by the table and one of the twins gave me a plate of food. I ate silently and after I finished, I got up and cleaned the plate.
"I'm ready to go." I told them and we left the house.
Jeremy had knocked me out using his magic earlier. He had me in a sort of trance where he and his brother, Jeremiah, told me of what happened. They introduced themselves and then began to explain what caused me to go asleep and everything that happened during the time I slept.
They talked of how Brian worked hard in trying to wake me up. He did various spells on me and I had successfully responded to them until I managed to wake up. They told me of the spell that had made me sleep and it was entirely not Brian's doing; but I still blamed him.
He could have told me earlier about the spell and all this could have been prevented. The other bad thing was that, the King could not offer any help on my mate until I presented the issue myself. That was where we were going at the moment; to meet the King.
We reached the palace and a guard escorted us to the room where the king would see us. The room had several people in it and they all looked flawless, too perfect. I followed the twins and Brian to the front where the King and the Queen sat side by side.
I said my greetings after the others and I listened as Brian introduced me to them. He however didn't explain why I stood before them since I was supposed to explain that myself.
"Your royal Highness," I said and bowed my head once I was given the okay to speak. "I come before you due to the matters of my mate." I started and then quickly explained everything. "So I really need your help to save my mate." I finished with that and remained silent to hear their answer.
"I've heard your request. But I'm sorry we can't help you." The king said and it was like a sharp knife was stabbing my heart. "We are people of magic and you are not one. Neither is your mate."
"But he does have magic in him and it's killing him." I said hoping he would change his mind.
"There is a spirit of magic in him and that is what has magic and not him. You shouldn't have come here. We can't help you." The king said firmly.
I fell down on my knees before the King. If he would help me just because I begged, then that is what I would do. I would beg on my hands and knees despite being an alpha and all. I needed my mate alive.
"I'm sorry young man." The king said once again as he denied my pleas.
Brian was confident they would help because they helped magic people and since Cad has magic, he considered him as one. Yet the King here considered him as a werewolf and someone he can't help. At first I thought he was going to change his mind but as he continuously denied my pleadings, I knew he was dead serious.
"However," I looked up immediately when the Queen spoke up. It was the first time I heard her voice and I held on to it as she continued then pointed, "we will help him."
I looked in the direction the Queen was pointing and there was a man who made his way to where I stood. He bowed to the Queen and King then stood beside me.
"Who are you?" Brian asked the man beside me and he smiled a bit.
"I am Justice." The man answered.
"He is a second mate to Cadmael. He stands before us today to seek help from us for his mate." The Queen said and I got off my knees and got on my feet.
"What do you mean a second mate?" I asked cautiously.
"It means what it means; it is a thing unknown to most werewolves but each one has two mates. This is to make one have a choice of who he wants to spend a life time with. There is only one mate though, who bears the strong connection, and in your cases, a fellow member of the same species." The King explained.
"I still don't understand." I said.
"I am a mate to Cadmael. Just like Katherine was a mate to you. But you and Cadmael have the strong connection to each other and in such; you couldn't recognize Katherine as your mate." Justice said and I remembered the times with Katherine. So she was my mate?
"How did you know about Katherine?" I asked Justice and I looked at the Queen as she answered my question.
"Justice is a seer of both past and future."
"And that's why we will help Cadmael; because of Justice." The King added.
"Your request to leave the kingdom for a week is granted. You are to come back here in time." The king said to Justice and he bowed after thanking the King.
We left the palace and Justice went his way as he said he had to pack his things. I went back to my room and packed my things as well. We were to leave early in the morning and now the sun was just setting. I knew I would not sleep in this place even after Jeremy assured me that the spell won't work again, I was just afraid to do so.
I was on my back, on the bed, my eyes stuck to the ceiling. My thoughts wondered off to Justice. He was a good looking man and this man was a mate to my angel. He was to go with us in order to help Cad. He was to be his savior and not me.
I could feel how weak the bond between Cad and I was. I screwed up a lot and it wasn't a secret to anyone that he didn't want me like he used to. I believed that since we were mates, we will somehow work things out between us. But now that I've met Justice, I knew that us working things out was like hoping for rain in summer.
I wanted to call Justice out for lying but what could he gain from it? I was the one who was gaining here because my purpose was granted. I had found someone to save Cad just as I hoped. But still, what were Justice's expectations? Perhaps he would demand Cad to go with him and since we were not officially mated, would Cad leave me? What did all this meant?
"Michael," Jeremy called for me and I got up and went to the room he was in. To my surprise, I found Justice there as well.
"We have to leave tonight." Justice said.
"Why?"
"I have a bad feeling." He replied and from how serious he was, I ran to my room and got my bag. I also remembered that he was a seer. Perhaps he did saw something happening to Cad. I wasn't going to question him on it though.
"Aren't you coming?" I asked Brian and he shook his head.
"I'm not coming; I will stay here." He said.
"You have a coven to look after."
"They will soon have a priestess to look after them. Until then, you will look after the coven." He said and I understood.
I gave him a hug for farewell and said my thanks to the twins. I ran out with Justice and he stopped after we got out of the kingdom gates.
"Why are we stopping?" I asked him.
"We have to get there as soon as possible. I will have to teleport us there." He said and I was about to argue out of instinct but I stopped.
I had to listen to Justice because I knew he wanted nothing but to help my mate. So I gave him my hands as he asked for. He started saying a spell and I closed my eyes, like he asked me to. It wasn't long and I didn't even feel anything but his words surprised me and I immediately flew my eyes open.
"We are here."
