Chapter 20 - The Wedding Finale
---20---
~ Some time later ~
---------Aya's POV---------
All I could hear and see in front of me were the bustling crowds of people, laughing, yelling, talking and gossiping.
Tables of white were decorated with a wide range of colours of flowers. Giant white bows were tied to the back of chairs, and draped over pillars. I smiled to myself, looking around me. Today was going to be a wonderful day.
I watched my children, Kaara and Saru, all in their best dress outfits, running around, chasing each other.
'Kaara! Saru! Don't you two go knocking anything over now!' I called.
'We won't!' Kaara called back, appearing and disappearing out of my sights. I shook my head, chuckling to myself. Out of the corner of my eye, I noticed a familiar face. I turned and walked towards him, smiling.
'Are you nervous?' I asked him. Kakashi turned to me, smiling from under his mask.
'A little,' he admitted. I took a second to see what he was wearing. His usual Shinobi uniform, a kind of smartened up version. He didn't wear the green jacket, but instead wore a short-sleeved, long trailing jacket, similar to what Naruto has.
The cloak itself was white with pale green flame patterns and the name "Hatake" sewn into the back. Instead of his headband over his left eye, he wore it hanging from his waist. He'd covered his left eye slightly by a few stray strands of silver hair and by keeping it shut. I smiled, he cleaned up pretty good.
'You're looking pretty smart,' I teased. He laughed and scratched the back of his head.
'Well, today is the big day, heh,' he said, a hint of nervousness in his tone. 'Have you seen her yet?' he asked, leaning in quietly. I shook my head.
'I'm afriad not, no. I haven't seen her since this morning, I've been looking for her too,' I admitted. Kakashi looked away, worried.
'She'll be here, don't worry,' I smiled at him. He smiled back, nodding. 'I'll leave you to finish getting ready, okay Romeo?' I teased, patting his back. He nodded, smiling again, before wandering off. I carried on the search.
'Has anyone see Emi anywhere?!' I asked. One woman turned with a smile on her face.
'Kira,' I smiled.
'Aya! You looking for your sister? Neva found her and she's helping her get ready,' she told me.
'Where are they?'
'I'll take you, follow me,'
I followed Kira through the bustling crowds of guests. As we walked, the crowds became less and less and pretty soon, we were by the river, where a little house was situated on the mossy green banks.
We went up to the door and Kira knocked.
'Neva, Emi, it's me and I've got Aya too!' she said. The door creaked open and we stepped inside, closing it gently behind us.
'In here you guys,' Neva called from the front room. We walked in and there was Neva, styling my sister's beautiful hair. I gasped when I saw what Emi was wearing.
She wore a sleeveless, white dress, which fitted her beautifully, despite her being nearly 9 months into her pregnancy. It was tied up from the back and the lower part of the dress flowed around her nicely. It wasn't big and puffy, it was slim, but not clingy, and wavy, just flowing. The dress cut off midway down her shin. And around her ankles were thick golden bangles, and instead of shoes or sandals, she went barefoot. Similar to her ankle accessories, Emi wore more thick, golden bangles on each wrist and upon her forearms.
Her hair was tied up into a messy kind of do, yet smart, and decorated with tiny, silver flowers and butterflies. In her hair was a small, silver tiara, with a pure white, silky veil, which trailed halfway down her body. She looked stunning.
'Emi, you look absolutely beautiful!' I smiled, resting my hand over my heart. She looked up at me, smiling.
'You think so?' she asked, standing up, resting one hand on her bulging stomach. I nodded, tears threatening to spill from my eyes. She embraced me and hugged me tight.
'Thank you for being here, Aya. One of my biggest fears growing up was that you wouldn't be there to see me get married,' she said, looking down.
'Emi,'
'But now you are, which makes me so happy! It's just that Mom and Dad aren't here to see me,' she whispered. I hugged her tighter.
'They would be so proud of you, Em,'
'Yeah, I'm sure they would,' she whispered.
'Emi, it's time to go. The ceremony is about to start, are you ready?' Neva asked, a wide smile spread across her face.
Emi clung to me for a brief moment before slowly releasing her grip and gliding over to the mirror.
'Am I ready?' she asked herself, eyeing up her reflection. She breathed in and rested her hand on her belly.
'We're both ready aren't we?' she smiled. I appeared at her side and gave her shoulders a quick squeeze.
'Let's get you to your Romeo,' I whispered, taking her hand. She smiled and nodded, excited to go. Neva and Kira took up their bridesmaids' bouquets and handed Emi her own. I picked mine up and lead my younger sister out of the cottage and out towards the river. Neva and Kira both fixed their own hair and outfits as we paused for a brief moment.
Emi breathed in and we got in our formation. I linked my sisters arm and began leading the way towards where everyone would be seating. I glanced back to Neva and Kira, both of them looked stunning as well, in our knee-length pale blue bridesmaids dresses. Similarly to the bride herself, we'd all gone barefooted, but not one of us was as stunning as my sister.
We approached the archways which would lead on to the isle. Kaara and Saru stood together, Kaara ready as the little flower girl and Saru ready as the little ring bearer boy. I nodded at Kaara who grinned excitedly and began walking down the isle, scattering the flower petals as she went. I nodded and Saru who nodded, smiled back at me, and then padded along the isle.
The music began playing and we let Kira and Neva over take us, making their way down the isle first. Emi took a deep breath beside me and I squeezed her hand. She responded by squeezing back, and we both took our first small strides down the isle. Everyone and began "oooh-ing" and "awww-ing". I watched Kakashi, waiting at the altar, a smile so big on that face of his, you could tell even though he wore that stupid mask.
He did a double take before realising that it was actually Emi linking my arm.
'He looks so happy to see me,' Emi whispered. I chuckled softly.
'Ah, you have no idea,' I whispered back. 'There's no keeping you two apart for long!'
The music came to an end as we reached the altar and I have her over to the love of her life.
'You take care of her, you hear?' I teased, before giving Emi a final quick hug then taking my seat.
I sat there with a massive smile on my face as Kakashi lifted the veil and revealed his bride. My own pride was great when they were making their vows to each other, and placing the rings on each other's finger. When the priest finally said:
'I now pronounce you husband and wife, you may now kiss the bride,'
I was literally in tears. Emi threw her arms around his neck and he wrapped his arms around her waist, with her bulging, 9 month pregnant tummy, between the two of them. The moment they kissed was the moment everyone stood up and applauded. People cheered and whistled with excitement. They kissed for a short while, a deep and meaningful kiss.
And it was like being part of a fairy tail.
The perfect couple, with the perfect ending. Only good things ahead for these two. I found myself smiling and sobbing when they pulled away.
Kakashi whispered something to Emi and she laughed, taking his hand and placing it on her stomach. Then the leaned in and kissed again, both hands interlocked, resting over their soon-to-be-born baby.
A fairy tail ending.
End.
