Dear Captain America-Part 1

This is the first part of a three part series. Hope you all like it!

May 5th, 1943

Dear Captain America,

I don't know if you remember me, but I lived in the apartment next to you when we were growing up. I mean, you only went by Steve back then, but it was still you. I always admired your bravery. When I hear people talking about you or see a picture of you, I always think back to when we were in the fifth grade. Do you remember? Cecil Forest was making fun of my ratty clothing, and you came up and told him to stop. He didn't want to listen to you, but you didn't stop. He punched you in the stomach... I'm still sorry about that. I hope you don't think badly of me for not thanking you then, but I was very thankful. You see, the day before that, my father had been laid off from his work as a factory worker. I was very depressed that day, and you were my, while it may sound juvenile, hero. I am married now and have a daughter. I hope that someday, if something of the sort should happen to her, that there will be a boy just like you to stand up for her. Thank you, Captain.

Yours truly,

Nancy Mulligan, your old neighbor

P.S. Keep up the good work.
