Tigerclaw was a trusted warrior of Riverclan till he met Snowfall and fell in love.

During hunting for his clan, he came across Snowfall. She had just finished fighting a fox and blood was all over her pelt so she was unrecognizable. They met at the Gathering and than Tigerclaw left Riverclan because he found out Snowfall was expecting his kits.
