My maid's smile..!
Izuku Midoriya was content and yet somehow also anxious.
He was eating food made by a girl, and that same girl was sleeping besides him, almost snuggling against him like a purring kitten.
He was content because of all that but that was also why he was so anxious, all this was done by a girl, but the girl wasn't his girlfriend, she was his maid. 'But that's not even the real problem, the real problem is that it hasn't even been twenty-four hours since she became my maid, and yet for some reason, she's all I can think about!'
And the thing was, the more he thought about it, the more it made sense. Yaoyorozu and him had a lot in common. They both enjoyed learning, and were analytical. They both had the annoying habit of overthinking. They were both even voted to be the class representatives together, before he gave his spot up to Iida. The more he thought it about the more they had in common. 'We even work without break... Wait, without break!' Izuku's eyes widened as his thoughts came to a natural conclusion. 'Yaoyorozu is interning as a hero and working as a maid. I bet she's overworking herself, trying her hardest on both jobs too.'
Izuku was hit with a wave of guilt, 'Here I was complaining about my own fatigue while she was tired herself, and yet she was only insisting that I rest up, not even concerned about herself. Yaoyorozu is really amazing.' And that was another thing he realized they had in common.
Even though she was asleep, Izuku grew a blush as he whispered it next to his shoulder where she was resting her head.
"Don't worry, your master will take care of you."
His face steamed up, not believing he said that. He held his breath, hoping she was still sleeping. Her body didn't react so he let out his breath in relief. Although, because she was resting her head on his shoulder, he couldn't see the smile pull on her lips.
Before lunch came to an end, Izuku shook his shoulder gently to wake Momo up. "Y-Yaoyorozu, lunch is almost over."
"Ara?" Momo sleepily pushed herself off Izuku, straightening out her body with a yawning cat-stretch, pushing out her legs and reaching for the sky with her arms. Blink, blink. "Eh?! Midoriya what are doing in my room?" Blink, blink. "Wait, what am I doing outside?" She had an adorable ditzy freakout before her memory started coming back to her, remembering that she fell asleep besides him. "Oh my gosh, please pardon my behavior, I didn't mean to-."
"Yaoyorozu," He caught her attention before she could start to ramble as he usually does.
"Y-Yes, Midoriya?" Her focus shifted from her unprofessional conduct to him.
"Let's have lunch together again." And he gave her that smile, letting her know she didn't do anything wrong or improper.
Her eyes widened before softening at his comfort. She let out a weak giggle as she had to look away, to hide her blush. "I'd like that."
They got their things ready and were leaving the roof.
"Midoriya, I'll meet you at the classroom, I want to freshen up."
"Oh, okay, sure." Izuku walked on ahead of her once they reached the restrooms as she headed inside.
Yaoyorozu made sure she was alone in the bathroom before checking out her appearance in the mirror. She pulled down on her cheekbones to get a better look at her lower eyelids. "It doesn't look like it smudged." She let out a sigh of relief before nodding to herself.
"I won't let anyone see that insecure side of me ever again! Especially Master!" And she had to say it in her neko-maid voice, at least so she could believe in herself while relying on Midoriya.
Izuku and Momo were sitting in their seats as the rest of class went by. They were both staring out the window, lost in their own thoughts.
Izuku was trying to think of a way for Yaoyorozu to catch up on rest. 'If I hire her to come to my place, she could rest there, but Yaoyorozu wouldn't let herself rest on the job. What did I do during lunch that got her to sleep? It felt like she really needed it. Ah, somehow the next time she comes over I'll figure something out without hurting her pride. Oh, I can ask her to help me with studying, If anything I can always o-order her to rest, right?' And his cheeks flushed red at the thought of ordering Momo around.
As Yaoyorozu was staring off at the scenery outside, she had a constant hue of pink on her cheeks, matching the cherry blossom petals that were scattering outside. 'Did I dream that, or did Midoriya actually say it?' Yaoyorozu couldn't recall if Izuku said he would take care of her or if she simply dreamt that. 'And why did it feel so comforting?'
For the rest of classes, Izuku and Momo were thinking of him taking care of her, instead of the other way around.
The school day was over and the students were leaving. Momo was walking at a slow pace, she was hoping Midoriya would catch up to her before they had to go their separate ways. 'I wonder when Midoriya will hire me again? If he's interning then I wouldn't mind coming over at night.'
"Hey, Yaoyorozu." Izuku called out to her as he caught up to her.
"Hello, Midoriya."
"So where are you headed? I have a patrol today but I was thinking we can study later."
"Study? I suppose we can. Although I also have to intern today. You know, you did have a point, Mandalay is akin to an aunt. That's actually why I started working with them, all of them are so welcoming." Momo smiled as she recalled when she started working at the wild wild pussycats agency when they relocated into the city and started their maid service. They treated Momo like family as soon as she started working with them.
"Yeah, that makes sense. Um, just don't overdo it okay. You're working two jobs and attending school, you must be exhausted."
Momo shook her head with a small smile. "Midoriya, I appreciate the concern, you don't have to worry. Remember, I said your my priority, so yes after interning I can come over and help you study."
"W-Well maybe you can be my priority too." And he had to scratch his reddening cheek as he looked away.
"Eeip!" She let out her kitten squeak not believing he said that. 'Does that mean he also said that at lunch? I... I wasn't dreaming!' And a giddy feeling was bubbling in her chest. They were both blushing, looking at the ground as they struggled to put one foot in front of the other until she finally spoke.
"...I'd like that..." It was so quiet Izuku almost didn't hear her but when he did his head instantly turned to her, giving her his freckled smile.
She felt his smile and it only caused her blush to grow. She couldn't take it anymore and timidly matched his stare but then she raised an eyebrow because Izuku was staring intently at her. "Is something the matter?"
"N-No, it's nothing, it's just, here let me..." He reached out with his hand to her loose strand of hair. A cherry blossom petal had landed there and he didn't know why but it seemed to match her aesthetic, he almost didn't want to remove it. He carefully plucked it away before showing it to her.
"Oh, thank you."
"Make a wish." He casually said as he blew away the petal.
'I don't know why but when he said that, all I could imagine was holding his hand under the cherry blossoms.' On impulse Momo skipped ahead of Izuku before turning around, facing him as she tenderly held her schoolbag with both hands. She tilted her head with that closed-eye smile. "If I tell you it won't come true."
And she was smiling.
Izuku's eyes widened. The petals were flowing with the wind behind her as her hair fluttered along. Her cheeks had the same pink bloom and her smile was just as beautiful as the short-lived season of the cherry blossoms. 'Has... Has Yaoyorozu always been this gorgeous?'
Izuku did think that Momo was good looking but this moment was different. To him, it was surreal and everlasting.
"Well, I have to get going." Momo had a bashful smile because of his enamored expression, and gave him one last look before turning around to leave.
"Y-Yeah, bye." And Izuku could only stand there waving like a hopeless idiot.
But before she completely left, she turned her head back to him with a teasing giggle. "I'll see you later," And Izuku tensed up because it felt like she was going to say it again, "Midoriya."
But she didn't say it and Izuku was a little disappointed.
She giggled at his reaction and it wasn't clear if Momo was talking to Izuku or you but she said,
"I bet you thought I was going to say Master, ne?"
