"We have to tell Hagrid," Lily said as she made her way across the common room. "Where are you going?" Maddie chased after her. "Well, we're going to need my substitute wand." Lily explained as she climbed the steps. Maddie froze. Lily's wand! "Oh, Lils!" Maddie grabbed her wrist, "Your wand." Lily shrugged, an upset look hidden behind her fake grin. "Eh, maybe Hagrid will find it. Or not."

She continued up the steps, and Maddie waited for her outside the door. She felt the potion in her pocket. She had forgotten to meet Roxanne, and surely she would tell the teachers. But it wasn't more important than her sister and best friend. Was it? No. But then, again... she would be expelled and probably Lena, too... and... No.

But as Lily and her crept down the stairs she promised herself that if there was time, she'd try and find a way.

The two girls had made it to an exit. They weren't sure which one, there were so many. But they could see the womping willow from it, so they had  an idea of where to reach Hagrid.

Maddie motioned towards the tree. The two made a mad dash to about three yards away from the tree-- safe from the branches. "What now?!" Maddie shouted. It was dark, so it was hard to make out what Lily was doing, but it looked as if she were grabbing something from her pocket.

"Lumos." The end of Lily's wand illuminated the surrounding area. She turned left, "That way towards his hut." They carefully, but quickly, tromped down the sloping terrain to the hut in the distance.

When they reached the hut, Lily pulled at the doorknob. Locked. "Somebody there?" They heard Hagrid ask from behind the door. Lily sighed her impatience, "Alohmora." The girls barged in.

"Whoa, girls! What's this all 'bout?"

Maddie shut the door. "They weren't back at the castle!" She exclaimed. Hagrid's eyes grew, but he tried to conceal it. "Oh? Well, uh, er... I best get lookin' for 'em." He grabbed the lantern from the table. "Uh, first, y'll tell McGonigle, understood?" They nodded. "Good." He rubbed his beard and stepped out the door.

"Headmistress!" Maddie shouted. The eagle steps came spiraling down. "I guess we figured out the password accidentally." Lily shrugged. "I was just calling to see if maybe I could wake her up, but, this works." Maddie started up the stairs.

The door opened to reveal a sleepy McGonigle in a green night dress. "Chan? Potter?" "We need to talk to you. It's urgent." Lily told her.

"Oh," she looked surprised, "well, I see. Come in." They were ushered into her exquisite office. "Go."

Maddie spoke, "Lena, Hugo, Lily, and I were serving detention in the Forbidden Forest, and Hagrid came to save us from a centaur. But my sister and Hugo were already waiting for us, and they agreed to wait for us. And--"

The headmistress cut her off, "Skip to the point please?"

"Right. Hugo and Lena are missing. Hagrid's looking for them in the Forest now."

Her expression turned grave. "Two students are missing?! In the Forest?!"

Lily and Maddie nodded.

"Stay here!" They were instructed, "I'm off to assemble the professors."
