An idea!
Morning sunlight poured through the window, lighting up the apartment in a warm glow. I sat on the windowsill, staring at the city below, my tail swishing slowly behind me. The world went on, completely clueless that Izuku Midoriya, the Izuku Midoriya, was currently a cat.
Behind me, Aizawa sipped his coffee, his dark eyes focused on me. "You're quiet today," he muttered, his voice low and scratchy like gravel.
Quiet?
How am I supposed to feel chatty when I've been a cat for days and you still don't have a clue who I am?
I didn't even glance back at him. Nope. He wasn't getting my attention today. Not after ignoring my desperate attempts to communicate that I, his star problem child, was right here. My strategy? Full-on silent treatment.
I heard the soft clink of his mug on the table before he walked over. "You okay?"
Oh, now you care?
Where was this energy yesterday when I was practically singing my life story in meows?
I flicked my tail, keeping my back to him. Let him stew in my disapproval.
He crouched next to me, his face almost level with mine. "You're not even going to glare at me?" he asked, his tone suspicious.
Oh, you'd like that, wouldn't you?
When I still didn't react, he sighed and reached out to scratch behind my ears. Normally, I'd purr out of pure reflex, but not today. I stayed rigid, unmoving.
"Great. Now the cat's mad at me," he muttered, standing up and walking away.
Darn right I'm mad at you.
You've had days to figure this out, Aizawa.
DAYS.
I kept staring out the window, ignoring him as he shuffled around the kitchen. But then he said something that made my ears twitch involuntarily.
"No word from Tsukauchi yet," he mumbled. "Still nothing about Midoriya."
I froze.
Tsukauchi?
"You'd think a kid as loud as him couldn't just vanish," he muttered, rubbing the back of his neck.
Oh, come on!
I spun around, leaping from the windowsill to the table with a thud. I glared at him, tail whipping like an angry flag.
"Finally decided to grace me with your attention?" he asked, one brow raised.
I let out an exasperated meow, pawing at his hand.
HELLO!
I'm RIGHT HERE!
MIDORIYA.
ME.
IZUKU MIDORIYA!
He sighed, shaking his head. "What do you want now? Food? Water? Attention? You're more high-maintenance than I thought."
No!
None of that!
I want you to USE YOUR BRAIN.
Frustration bubbled up inside me, and I started pacing on the table, meowing non-stop. I was practically yelling at him in cat-speak, trying to drill the truth into his thick skull.
"Okay, okay," he said, holding up his hands. "Calm down, drama queen. What's the problem now?"
I froze mid-step.
Wait.
What if I'm approaching this wrong?
Suddenly, an idea hit me.
Koda.
Of course! Koda from Class 1-A! He could talk to animals. Well, he could understand them, at least. If anyone could figure out what I was trying to say, it was him.
I meowed excitedly, bouncing on the table.
"What now?" Aizawa grumbled, clearly baffled by my sudden shift in energy.
I jumped down, landing gracefully on the floor, and raced toward the door. Turning back, I meowed loudly and stared at him.
"You want to go out?" he asked, rubbing his temples. "Not happening."
Come on!
I need to see Koda!
I ran in a circle, then darted back to the door, pawing at it furiously.
Aizawa crossed his arms, narrowing his eyes at me. "You're not getting me to open that door. I've got work, and you're staying here."
WORK?!
Oh no, you're not leaving me behind, Sensei.
Not this time.
I darted back to him, jumped onto his leg, and started climbing like my life depended on it.
"Hey!" he barked, trying to shake me off. "What are you doing? Get down!"
No way!
I clawed my way up to his shoulder and perched there, wrapping my tail around his neck for balance.
He sighed, pinching the bridge of his nose. "You're impossible."
And you're oblivious.
He tried to pull me off, but I clung on like a burr. "I don't have time for this," he muttered.
You're making time for this now, I thought smugly.
"Fine. You can stay up there," he said, clearly defeated. "But don't blame me if you fall."
Fall?
I'm a cat now.
Falling is basically our superpower.
As he went about gathering his things, I stayed firmly planted on his shoulder, already planning my next move.
First step: get to Koda.
Second step: make him understand me.
Third step: get my life back.
