Chapter 55

"I'm thinking about what I'm gonna do to him." Steve said looking outside as Hunter started speeding up.

"Make him watch titanic until he goes nuts." He proposed making a left turn.

"Very funny. Is that what happened to you?" He smiled glancing at his friend.

"You have no idea how many times I've been forced to watch Titanic in my fucking life." Hunter asked causing Steve to let out a laugh.

"Marriage is a room with no exit. You better suck it up."

"You were in it too, before everything happened. And when do you plan on telling Victoria the truth?" He asked briefly glancing at him.

"I don't plan on telling her anything."

"Why not?"

"It would bring confusion and instability. She's happy. That's all I want." He said still looking outside.

"Are you sure?"

"Yeah." He sighed. "She has a stable life and I don't want to ruin anything. She thinks I'm dead, let's just keep it that way."

His daughter has the stability he wanted for her and although his wife had seen him and knew he was still alive. Her mind didn't allow her to distinguish the truth for her hallucinations. So she would just mumble and tell truths that people often don't take seriously.

"You should tell her. Rose knows you're alive, but she's confused with her own mind and most of the things she says are not taken seriously." Hunter said looking at him briefly. "But you can tell Victoria. She likes you. Didn't you notice earlier?"

"I know. It's my fault. I knew my life was too dangerous to have a family. I was stupid. But I want them to have as much stability as possible."

"I understand. But whatever you decide, I'll be there for you and for them." Hunter assured looking at the empty road.

"Thank you. For taking my daughter in."

"Like I said, I didn't know she was your daughter until last year. She made it all on her own. You can be proud." He paused before laughing lightly. "If only the kids remembered the first time they met. Vicky was two years old, right?"

Steve nodded with a chuckle. "Yep. But they were too young to remember. Victoria could barely form full sentences. And they only met once. If you tell them, you're gonna have to explain how you know me, Vicky's father."

"I wasn't going to. Even My wife only remembered that day when I told her about you a few days ago." Hunter said parking that car.

Steve nodded as the question about his daughter and Jason came to mind again and it always did since he found out they were engaged.

Missing his daughter's life to that point just only made his anger against Donovan stronger. And he let it. He fed that anger and he plan on taking it out on him.

"How did Jason and my daughter start. I hope it's not a habit for him to get it on with employees." Steve asked getting out of the car.

"What do you take my son for?" Hunter did the same and walked around the car.

"I'm just asking." She shrugged as they walked to the empty warehouse. "If I leave my daughter with someone, I gotta make sure he won't be playing games."

"I'll beat his ass myself if he does. Victoria is a part of us, even if she doubts it sometimes." Hunter said opening the metal doors.

"I trust you. But I don't like her getting married this young."

Hunter let out a laugh getting in followed by Steve who closed the door loudly behind him. "She's twenty-four."

"Exactly. I have nothing against your son, but it just pisses me off." He mumbled walking in the room to find the man with a beaten-up face strapped to a metal chair.

"I have a daughter. I know exactly how you feel." Hunter said turning to Donovan. "He has a daughter too. But instead of protecting her, he tried to throw her at my son."

"Please." Donovan pleaded lowly with a cough. "I didn't do anything."

"You tried to kill me. And then you burned my house thinking that my wife and daughter were in there. You were going to burn them alive." Steve snapped moving closer before backhanding him. "Son of a bitch." He mumbled turning to Hunter. "You can tell your men to leave. I got it from here."

Hunter nodded at the two men at the back who just stood up and walked out silently. Hunter turned to look at Donovan, whose face was already beaten up by his man.

"You wanna have fun?" Steve asked pulling out a bag from under a table and started taking out his tools as Donovan started pulling as the restrained sobbing quietly.

"Nope. I don't have any personal problem with this one. And my wife is waiting for me." He said turning back. "They left a car outside for you. Here are the keys." He said tossing them on the table. "Have fun." With that he left the room.

When he left Steve pulled out a cutter and turned to Donovan. "Remember this?" he asked and Donovan started moving even more around the seat. "Why are you panicking? I'm sure it hurts less than being burned alive. That's what you wanted to do to my family right?"

"I'm sorry."

"Not yet. But you'll be." He mumbled moving closer to him.

"Ella!" Hunter called as he opened the front door for the man with the little girl glued to his leg, practically hiding behind it.

"Your daughter?" Hunter asked looking down at her and she hid even more behind her father.

"She's really shy." Steve smiled placing a hand on his daughter. "Say hi, flower."

"Hi." She mumbled holding her doll tightly.

"Oh. I didn't know we had guests." Stella smiled appearing from the hallway followed by a three-year-old Elena and stood beside her husband.

"This is Steve. He's doing some work for me. And this is his daughter Victoria."

"Hi. Nice to meet you." Stella smiled before looking down at the little girl

"We have work to talk about." Hunter said and she nodded.

"What about this little girl? She's not going to talk business, is she?" Stella smiled going lower to Vicky's level. "How about you stay here and play with my daughter. She's very nice." She said as Elena just looked at the girl curiously.

"Victoria?" Steve smiled down at his daughter and she shook her head wildly holding onto his leg tightly. "She's really shy."

"How old is she?"

"She's two. She doesn't play with kids her age a lot."

"Neither does my daughter. But she must like cookies, right?" Stella smiled and as soon as the words left her mouth, Victoria's grip slowly loosened on her father.

"She'll never say no to sweets." He laughed lightly smiling down at his daughter.

"Elena?" Stella looked back at her daughter.

Elena stepped forward and grabbed Victoria's hand in hers. "Come." She said quietly leading her to the kitchen.

"I'll let you guys get to work." Stella smiled following them.

"Don't worry she's in great hands." Hunter said as Steve's eyes followed his daughter until she disappeared in the kitchen. "I hope you're bringing great news."

"Yeah. All Kevin's buddies have been taken care of." He said as they walked to his office. "Except one."

"His brother?" Hunter guessed as they stepped inside his office.

"Yes."

"What's his name?"

"On our records, Donovan Stevens. But it could be a false name, so we'll keep looking." He said and Hunter nodded. "I've known him for years, but I can confirm if that's his real name.

"What about the account in Greece? Tell me more about that."

"Like I told you yesterday. No activity will be signaled until someone unlocks the account." Steve explained handing him a folder. "But I tried my best to find a way. An email will be sent to you as soon as it happens."

"So, we won't know exactly where the money is until then."

"Exactly. That's all I could do."

"And I taught him how to do that." Hunter mumbled. "Tell me the kind of activity his brother has been into."

"Who is that?" Jason asked dropping his bag as he walked in the kitchen eyeing Victoria curiously.

"Someone is working with your father in his office. This is his daughter." Stella said placing the freshly baked cookies on plates.

"Her name is Victoria." Elena beamed excitingly.

"I didn't want to know her name." Jason mumbled snatching his bag from the floor and walking out.

"Be nice Jason. Come on girls." Stella said taking the tray and walking toward the living-room and they quietly followed.

She walked in and found Sebastian walking in the living-room at the same time with a frown.

"Seb." Stella smiled placing the tray on the table as her younger son rubbed his eyes walking closer to her. "You had a great nap?" She asked and he nodded slowly and went to her before wrapping her arms around her.

She hugged him tightly for a few seconds before he pulled away.

"Behave boys." She said. "I'll be right back." She said as Sebastian turned to his brother who was focused on the TV and his fingers moved furiously on the controller.

"I wanna play." Sebastian said walking to his brother who let out an exasperated sigh.

Sebastian sat beside his brother who handed him the unplugged controller, letting him think that he was participating.

"Come play with me." Elena said grabbing Victoria's hand and leading her to her doll house that was beside on of the corner. "My doll's name is Polly."

Victoria grabbed her own doll and another one Elena handed her to play with. She smiled lightly finally playing with another girl close to her age.

As they continued playing, Sebastian narrowed his eyes at Vicky slightly before dropping the controller.

He stood up and walked up to them before reaching over to pull at Victoria's puff causing her to let out a loud cry before turning to smack his face hard. The boy took a step back in surprise. Shock written all over his face.

Elena let out a mischievous laugh at her brother's face.

"What happened?" Stella asked coming back after hearing Vicky's cry.

"He pulled her hair, and she slapped him." Jason laughed with his eyes on the TV.

"Sebastian." Stella gasped as her youngest son continued glaring at Vicky. "Look at me." She said sternly and he forced his gaze on her. "You don't do that. How would you feel if I did that to you?" She asked and he just stayed quiet not saying a word. "Apologize to her." She said and he kept quiet. "Now!"

"Sorry." He mumbled taking his seat back.

Victoria just moved her eyes back to her doll not saying a word.

"Doesn't she talk?" Jason asked as his eyes moved from the girl to his mother.

"She's shy. And she's just two. She's still learning how to. Remember Elena and Sebastian last year." Stella said filling their glasses again and he nodded.

"She doesn't talk but she slapped Seb." He laughed glancing at his brother who was rubbing the sting on his face. "Hard."

"She's mean." Sebastian sitting further on the couch.

Jason shrugged glancing at the girl who continued playing as if she didn't just smack his brother. "You pulled her hair. And she didn't even cry."

"That's because she's mean." He frowned even more crossing his arms over his chest.

In the flashback the twins were three and Jason is eight. So it wasn't in BEW. The last chapter was the twins birth and they were five in the epilogue. Everything happened in between.
