Chapter 37

"Four hours." Seb muttered. "Four fucking hours. I couldn't take it anymore." He hissed as soon as we walked out of the door.

"It's over now." I smiled looking at my phones for messages or calls.

"Yeah. After four hours, I'm starving. Let's go." He grabbed my hand and literally started dragging me away.

"Hey, slow down. I'm gonna fall." I pulled my hand away and stopped.

"Victoria I'm really hungry. Let's go." He grunted trying to grab my arm but I slapped his hand away.

"Where is your brother? Aren't we waiting?" I asked confused looking around.

Jason went at a different meeting, but I thought he would even finish before us, because these were only three other people with him.

"Please, I'm hungry. He's a big boy. He'll manage." He said looking like he was about to loose it.

"Fine." I grunted before he started dragging me again.

I followed while taking out my phone to text Jason that we were leaving to go have lunch, incase he starts looking for us.

"Jason." I gasped dripping my purse when I walked into suite to find him pacing. "You scared me. And I tried calling you."

"Yeah. The meeting ended late."

I nodded picking purse that I dropped on the floor. "Did you eat?"

"Yeah."

I furrowed my eyebrows confused by his mood. He looked tensed. He could be grumpy, but not tensed like this.

"What's wrong?" I asked worriedly walking closer to him.

He opened his mouth and was about to speak when his phone started ringing. He huffed and looked at the caller.

"You can take it. Let me put my shoes on and then we can talk." I smiled before walking to the bedroom.

I took my shoes off followed by my earrings and went back to the door. Jason was still on the phone with his back facing me so I just waited there.

"I'm gonna tell her now, okay? I'll call you back." He whispered before hanging up.

I walked closer to him felling confused.

What was he talking about? Tell what to who?

"Tell what to who?" I asked walking out of the room as he turned to face me.

He didn't answer and visibly tightened his grip on the phone. I looked at him expectingly, hoping he was talking about me and hiding something from me again.

"Well?"

"Sit down."

So this is about me.

"What is it?" I asked crossing my arms over my chest. "Is it about my mother?"

I suddenly felt agitated at the thought of this being about my mother.

"What? Is it about my mother?" I asked hesitantly.

"She had an accident. My mother said she was brought to the hospital." I didn't even wait for the end of his sentence before I ran back to the room grabbing my suitcase and started carelessly shoving things inside.

My chest was hurting and I couldn't even hear what was happening around me, that's why I snapped when Jason grabbed my arms.

"Jason, don't touch me!" I yelled angrily pushing his hands away. "I'm leaving, so don't even try slowing me down."

I immediately continued shoving things into my suitcase not caring if I forgot something or not. I just needed to leave.

This is a bad dream. This has to be a bad dream.

I closed my suitcase and he came to take it from me.

"Let's go." He said walking to the door as I grabbed my purse running after him.

I don't how I kept my sanity on the flight here and on the drive from the airport. All I know is that I tried my best not to cry and that all I could hear were noises, and Jason trying to talk to me.

I heard his voice, but my brain didn't register any words. As much as I tried, I couldn't hold back a sob when I walked in the hospital and saw my mother laying there.

"What happened?" I asked in no one in particular since I didn't even notice who was in the room.

All I could see was my pale mother laying on the bed with stitches on her head.

"You must be her daughter. Your mother had an attack. She panicked, the reason why is still unknown. She was fighting the nurses. But that caused her to deliberately hit her head multiples times on the bed." The doctor said too slowly, almost nervous. "She is still unstable, and I don't want to get your hopes up. I can tell you about the details of the surgery i-"

Why is he nervous? I should be the nervous one.

I shook my head with my eyes glued on my mother. "No. Not now. When is she going to wake up?"

"Like I said she is unstable. The chances of her waking up are weak." He said and my hand went to my mouth and I let out a sob as the words left his mouth.

My knees would have given out if I was sitting in the edge of the bed.

This had to be a nightmare.

Please let it be a nightmare.

I tensed slightly when I felt Jason's hands on my shoulders before he pulled me to him.

"Victoria, I'm sorry." I furrowed my eyebrows when I heard Stella's voice.

I looked at her to see her eyes were red. She has been crying.

I wasn't even aware that she was in the room. I nodded at her before moving away from Jason. He tried pulling me back but I just pushed his hands away.

I knew I shouldn't have left. I just knew it.

Stella slowly walked closer to me before grabbing my hand.

"I'll come back tomorrow. Just call if you need anything." She said, her voice cracking a little and I nodded again.

I just needed my mother to be okay while I was gone.

She then wrapped her arms around me and hugged me lightly.

"Thank you." I said quietly clenching my teeth.

She pulled away and walked to the door with the doctor as they started talking to each other.

"Victoria-" Jason started but I just stopped him.

"I want to be alone with my mom."

"You can't be alone, Victoria." He said quietly grabbing my hand but I slowly pulled it away.

"I am not alone. I have her. Please just leave." My voice just cracked at the last part, as tears started coming out of my eyes again.

"Vic, ple-"

"Please, just go. I need to be alone with my mother." I said almost pleadingly with my eyes still glued on my mom. "Please. Just leave."

Nothing was said for a few seconds, but I could just feel him staring at me.

I heard him let out a sigh before he placed his hand on my shoulder. "Just call me if you need anything."

He kissed my cheek before he started walking away. I buried my face in my arms and broke down as soon as I heard the door close.

I don't know how long I just stayed there crying. But I was hoping that when I looked back up, she would be awake.

"Wake up mom." I whispered shaking her hand slightly. "You can't leave me alone." I continued but nothing came from her. "Please mom."

Please just wake up. She has to.

Defeated, I just rested my head on the bed feeling completely drained. That's why I didn't even looked up when the door opened and closed.

It could be a murderer who was here to kill me for all I cared.
I just jumped slightly when I felt my hair being pushed away from my face.

I slowly looked too tired for any quick movement. I didn't even flinch when I saw Kevin standing there.

"I heard about your mother. I came to see how you were holding up." He said and I just shrugged looking at my mom.

"How did you know?"

"You think the Knights are the only creeps looking out for you?" He asked back. "How did it happen?"

"She was fighting the nurse. Apparently she voluntarily hit her head against the bed." I whispered feeling my tears coming. "I knew I should have never left her. But I thought leaving her with Stella would be better than leaving her alone."

"I told you the only thing the Knights care about is themselves and finding me." He sighed  sitting on the edge of the bed. "You think Jason would have forced Elena or Sebastian to leave to the country if Stella was in your mother's position. You are the only one who cares about your mother, Victoria."

I shook my head still not looking at him. "Stop it."

"Just saying the truth."

"You gave up your plan of revenge and care about my life now?" I asked grabbing my mother's hand again.

"I'm not giving up on anything. Like I said I don't give a shit about your mom or the Knights. I hate them all. I'm here to see how you were doing." He said the first part so coldly that it almost gave me chills.

"Why can't you just leave everybody alone?" I asked finally looking at him.

"I honestly don't feel like it." He replied. "Just don't put all your hopes on the Knights. At the end of the day, if Hunter and Stella had to choose between your safety or their children's, they will choose the three little brats. Same for Jason, if it was to choose between you and your mother's safety or his family's, he will choose his family's." He said burying his hands in his pockets.

I looked down my hand holding my mother's hand, thinking about his words. As much as it hurts, I know he was right.
But right now I just need my mother to wake up. She's all I have.

"Just don't be naive enough to put all your hopes on them. Or you might end up crushed."
