Chapter 18
"Mom?" I called cautiously walking in her room.
She was just laying in her bed and didn't answer so I looked at the doctor who mentioned me closer.
"How is she?" I asked lowly as my eyes moved to her bandaged hands.
I quickly blinked to stop myself from crying. I can't believe someone really tried to hurt my mother.
Why? Because of my relationship with the Knights?
"She is fine. The nurses should have made sure that the case was plastic. Trust me it won't happen again." The doctor said obviously upset.
Something I would have believed if I didn't receive that visit tonight.
I didn't answer, my eyes were just glued on my mother. She then looked up and her eyes met mine.
Her eyes were red and she has obviously been crying. I quickly turn away from her when I felt myself starting to cry too. I can't bear to see my mother cry.
"Well. She's all good." I heard the doctor say and I quickly wiped my tears and turned again to look at him. "I'll let you talk to your daughter now, Rose."
She didn't moved or say anything as he took his notepad.
"Victoria, you're hurt. What happened?" He asked looking the blood that was probably drying on my hand.
"Yes." I nodded lightly. "Just a little accident."
"I'll send a nurse to help you with it." He said and just left not waiting for an answer, not that I had the voice to answer anyways.
I then looked at my mom who still had her eyes on me. I cautiously moved closer to her bed and sat down facing her.
"Are you okay, mom?"
"Don't cry. Your tears burn me." She said quietly and I nodded.
"Who did this to you?"
She looked to the sides, then the window before leaning toward me. "He may be here." She whispered.
"Who?"
"The black cat."
"Mom who is the black cat?"
"He may be here. I can't say." She whispered shaking her head quickly. "He may be here." She kept repeating and I stopped asking not wanting to upset her.

The sun was already rising when I walked out of the hospital. I opened my bag while walking to my car and grabbed my phone.
I dailed Jason's number and started looking for my keys.
"Victoria."
"Hi. I just wanted to ask you if I could have the day off if you didn't need me there today."
"What's wrong? Are you okay?"
"Yes. My mom had a little accident. I just stayed up all night. I'm going home right now." I simply explained and I heard him move on the other line.
"I know there's something you're not telling me. So I'm coming."
"No." I winced knowing that I said that too quickly for my liking.
I heard him sigh. "Victoria, what's wrong?"
"I told you I'm just tired." I said again grabbing my keys to unlock my car. "I'm in my car. I'll call you later." I finished before hanging and getting in my car.
I'm not worried. I know I should tell him and I also know he would come to my house anyways. So I'll just go and wait for him to show up.
And I'm sure the person has something to do with that Kevin guy if it's not him. I know I can't deal with this alone. So if he thought I wasn't going to tell anyone, then he surely got a problem.
I am not going to trust his word to keep my mom safe. But I know I can trust Jason.
I hope I can.
I want my mother to be safe but I know I would be stupid to trust whatever that man told me.
So all I have to do is go home and wait for Jason so I can tell him everything.
****
Questions. I have so many questions.
The black cat.
Was it really Kevin?
Is it going to be right to tell Jason? What if it was wrong?
The man could really hurt my mom. Because of his hate for the Knights.
He must really hate them if he's ready to hurt people that know the family to get to them. It's not like I was a Knight.
Why did he come to me? I don't know anything about what happened. I wasn't there.
So I was just sitting on my couch staring blankly at the TV, when I heard a click of my front door before it opened and closed.
Jason appeared a few seconds later in the living-room.
"What's wrong?" He asked dropping his car keys on the table. "You look like shit."
"Very nice. You're such a gentleman."
"What happened to your mom?" He asked sitting next to me. "Have you been crying?" He grabbed my hand looking at my face worriedly. "Vicky what's wrong?"
"I need to talk to you." I mumbled looking back at the black TV.
"What is it?" He asked and I pulled the sleeve of the sweatshirt I was wearing up.
"What the hell happened Victoria?" He asked looking down at my bandaged hand. "Was it your mom? I told you t-"
"No, it wasn't my mom."
"Then what happened?"
"Well I had a little visitor last night." I said looking at my bandaged wrist.
I looked at him just as his eyes moved to my face and his face twisted in anger.
"Someone did this to you?" He hissed angrily standing up. "Who the fuck did this?"
"Someone who has a grudge against your family. He came in my room when I was sleeping and threatened me with a knife. That person hurt my mother."
He looked at me and his face suddenly turned murderous forcing me to look away and flinch slightly.
I've never seen that look on his face. Whatever it is, I don't like it.
"He didn't let me see his face or turn the lights on. But he said he didn't have anything against me. I was just involved with the wrong people. You and your family are the only people I know."
He didn't say anything and just started pacing. His whole body was tense and he was obviously in deep thought.
"Fucking Kevin." He said more to himself than me. "I know it's that son of a bitch." He continued talking under his breath. "I'll kill him. He is never going back to jail."
"Maybe. But it doesn't matter to me. I wasn't supposed to tell you. He said he would hurt my mother if I tell you. I told you, now can you assure me that you'll keep my mother safe?" I said the end quickly as I could feel my voice breaking.
He didn't respond and just tightened his fist as he kept pacing.
"I know it makes you angry that someone is threatening your family. So you'll know how I feel. She's all I have." I said and this time I couldn't help my trembling voice.
He stopped and turned to look at me but his face didn't relax and looked at me almost accusingly. "For fuck's sake, stop talking like it's just the two of you. It is not."
It is.
This whole situation is just frustrating to me. I didn't do anything to be sucked into this. My mother is all I've got. I can't risk her life.
I just can't.
She's my family.
"Jason, can you keep my mother safe or not?" I asked loudly and he paused turning to face me.
"Yes." He answered and I let out a small sigh of relief. "I'll have people there for her and some here for you."
I shook my head. "I can take care of myself. If he finds out, he will hurt my mother. I won't let that happen."
"I'll send people here. I have to go." He said and moved to walk away without waiting for my answer.
"No!" I snapped standing up. "I don't want people here. I didn't ask for this in the first place and I will not risk my mother's safety more then I already have."
"Vict-"
I groaned and looked at the ceiling as my eyes begin to water again. "I don't want people here, Jason. It is my choice, not yours. I don't want it."
"That son of a bitch came to your house at night. I'm not taking any risk. You should have called me."
I clenched my teeth and just buried my face in my hand as I couldn't hold myself anymore.
I still didn't say anything when he picked me up and started walking toward the hallway.
"I don't want people here."
"Fine." He said obviously angry because I felt him tighten his hold on me. "I'll take care of it."
