Chapter 17

"We're going to the spa." Elena announces bursting into Jason's office. "We have an appointment at four. Just hair and nails."

I just looked at her weirdly before smiling and taking my eyes back to the document. "I can't Elena. I'm working."

"Oh come on. I left my manager look after the shop. So we could have a spa time." She whined sitting on the chair beside me.

I smiled looking at her. "I can't. W-"

"No. I don't want a negative answer." She protested before turning to Jason and was about to speak when he cut her off.

"Don't even look at me. Owning a wedding dress shop is easier and managing this damn company, so no spa day for you."

"You heard the boss." I muttered and she started glaring at Jason.

"Don't be such a jerk. I need some girl bonding time and Victoria is the only woman around my age that doesn't annoy me."

Jason sighed. "Well you can have that another time. Victoria is not leaving work just for some stupid spa day." He said giving me a paper.
"Victoria review this please."

"You guys are so annoying." She groaned.

"We can do it on saturday." I proposed and she started mumbling things under her breath.

"No. I want it today."

"Well you can't have it today." Jason replied. "Plus we have an important meeting in less than an hour. So shut up and let us work."

"Your jobs are too much stress. I hope you realize it. I'll reschedule for Saturday. And we're going. " She sighed.

I nodded. "We are."

She turned to Jason glaring at him. "And you are a horrible brother. I hope the meeting goes bad because you ruined our spa day."

I just laughed shaking my head. She can go from sweet to crazy in seconds.

"A brother that could pay the hairdresser to ruin your hair on your spa day." Jason mumbled with his eyes glued on his work.

"I want you to push him. Sebastian and I are just going to propose the deals once again. But I want you to push him. We are not changing the offer, okay?" Jason started and I just nodded. "We have a second plan. Something they don't."

I groaned as we walked in the conference room where Sebastian was already waiting. "I know Jason. You taught me well. I know what to do."

"Even if he talks about leaving, let him. Don't insist. Show them you need the deal and they will take advantage of that." He continued. "Do that and I promise you I'll let you close the deal. I won't intervene, and neither will Seb."

Sebastian laughed while turning his chair. "Jason, she knows what to do. Let the student be the pro today."

Jason just sighed sitting on the chair. "Jus-"

"Jason you're stressing me when I'm trying to stay calm." I said sitting down. "I won't change the offer."

"The man is arrogant. He thinks he is always on top when he is not. And that's weakness. You are on top or you aren't." Jason said and I nodded.

Sebastian smiled. "In other words, make us proud by making him feel like the shit he is."

"You guys are horrible." I sighed just as Lydia walked in the room shyly.

"They are here."

I nodded and soon men walked and one in particular caught our attention.

"That's our victim." Sebastian whispered in a childish voice pointing at the man in his late fifties walking toward us.

"Thirty percent out of the whole deal." Mr.  Cavill gasped as his eyes moved from Sebastian then Jason and I. "Are you crazy?"

We have been here for nearly three hours discussing this whole thing and the man just thinks that the deal is changing.

If it changes, Jason is going to commit murder.

"Yes. I also thought it was crazy because my brother and I thought about giving you twenty percent." Sebastian said and the man just looked between his colleagues with wide eyes. "It's just that this young woman here believes in long lasting business relationships more than we do." He added pointed.

"We discussed everything and it is not up for negotiation. So are you signing or not?" Jason said after nodding at what Seb said.

"This is unacceptable." He said loudly.

"See? That's why we don't believe in long lasting partnerships. You lower your voice and accept the deal or you lower your voice and we say our goodbyes." Jason snapped clearly loosing his patience.

"My brother is actually in a good mood today. So you should accept our offer." Sebastian smirked.

"Here's the thing, Mr. Cavill. We're actually making a good offer." I said placing my hands on the table.

"We can't accept only thirty percent of this whole deal, Miss. This is business and we are partners." He said and I could see that he was being impatient.

I discreetly looked at Jason and he nodded silently telling me to keep pushing him.

"Us being partners is the reason why I'm making such a generous offer."

"Generous?" He asked outraged. "Our other partners give us up to fifty percent."

"Yes. But our stocks are higher. The fifty percent they are offering you, doesn't even represent twenty percent of what we are giving you. And we are raising it to thirty." I argued. "So take it or leave it."

His eyes moved to Jason who just looked at not saying a word. "We are going to think about it."

"Time is money, Mr. Cavill. And we already gave you a week. So take it now or leave it. You're not the only group interested." I finished giving the folder to Lydia who took it to them.

He looked at the folder and sighed unhappily while opening it.

I heard Sebastian make a small evil laugh beside and bit the inside of my cheek to keep myself from laughing. Or they will think we are mocking them.

"Idiots." Jason muttered finally relaxing on his chair.
"You were right." He said and I looked at him. "I taught you well."

That he did.

It was in the middle of the night when I slowly opened my eyes because I thought my bedroom door being pushed open.

I frowned slightly while rubbing my eye and waited to hear something else.

I'm so paranoid. I just hate living alone sometimes.

I shook those thoughts away and just started closing my eyes again. I heard the noise again making them fly open once more.

I control my breathing and slowly tried to turn the lights on when a hand caught my wrist making my heart literally stop.

"Jason. That's not funny." I gasped trying to pulling my wrist away.

I just gasped trying to sit up but I was held down. But what made me freeze was the cold metal that I felt on my throat.

Not Jason?

Fear took over my body as I realized that.

"Don't move." A voice hissed and I tried to breath slowly as he pressed the knife harder against my throat.

I knew at that moment I lost my voice because I couldn't ask him who he was. I'm sure I don't know that voice.

"Your mom had a little accident. But she's okay." He said and I choked back my tears. "The hospital might call you soon. That was just a warning. Don't say anything to anyone. Every flower your dear mother receives is a warning. It's not about you. You just got involved with the wrong people."

The wrong people?

I only know the Knights.

And my mom is hurt. I can't even open my mouth to say something because I was paralyzed.

"I'll contact you. Not a word to anyone. I mean it. If I find one of the Knights looking through this, your mother will pay the price. Her accident today is the proof that I'm not bluffing."

I just held my breath as tears rolled down my cheek and to my pillow.

"W... Who are you?" Were the only words that could come out my mouth.

I felt the cold metal or away from my throat as he lowered his hand. "You'll know when you need to. See you soon Victoria."

I let out a cry when he placed the knife on my wrist and applied pressure on it. I couldn't think, just feel my blood running down my hand.

I felt the person pulling away from me and I heard my bedroom door slam shut.

I gasped quickly stood up turning the lights on before grabbing my phone.
I looked for the hospital's number with shaky hands, completely ignoring my bleeding hand.

If anything happens to my mother, I wouldn't survive. She's all I have. She is the only person I'm sure will be here no matter what. In her own way.

"Hello?" A female voice said on the other line and I took a deep breath.

"It's Victoria Mendes. About m-"

"Ms. Mendes we were just about to call you. The vase in your mother's broke and she hurt her hands, probably because she was trying to pick up the pieces."

"I'm on my way." I said quickly hanging up and getting out of bed.
