"What does your boss want from me?! Why is he doing this to me?!" -Jewel 

JEWEL's POV

I looked back at the house when I heard my daughter called for me from the veranda. Looks like she saw me heading out of the house.

"Where are you going, mommy? I want to come with you" I tried to smile at her but I suddenly felt my eyes watered because I wasn't sure if I would be able to come back. I wanted to go up there and hug her but I didn't have enough time.

"It's okay, baby. Mommy will be back as soon as I can, okay? I love you and daddy so much" I said with an almost broken voice before I turned my back and quickly went to my car and drove passed the gate.

While I was on my way to the address that was indicated on the letter, the fear that I was feeling for my friend Helena and my dad was getting stronger. I couldn't understand what this person wanted from me but one thing was for sure, I would never let anyone get hurt or killed because of me.

I was gritting my teeth the whole time while thinking what to do in order to get out of this mess without someone getting hurt. Who's behind all this and what does he want from me? Why me?

I tried remembering if I have done something terrible to someone before but no matter how deep I dig in my head, I couldn't remember.

My thoughts were interrupted by a ringing sound. My eyebrows creased. It was coming from the backseat of the car.

I maneuvered the car to the side of the road and pressed the hazard light. Then I quickly picked the phone that was on the backseat and answered it.

"Hello"

"Love?" I bit my bottom lip as I heard his voice. I suddenly wanted to see him right away.

"I thought I lost my phone and I've been trying to call it but it was unattended. Where did you find it?" He continued.

"I saw it at the backseat of the car" I answered, trying to sound fine.

"The car? I was trying to call your phone a while ago but it was out of coverage area"

"I left it at the house because it was still charging" Yes. It was still charging but the truth was, I forgot to get it because I was panicking and scared of what I've read on that letter that I couldn't even think straight. I went out and decided to go alone without someone with me and that was stupid.

"Where are you going? Are you with Camila?" I became hesitant of what to answer him. Am I going to tell the truth? But what if the kidnapper would discover that I told him everything and they would harm my father and Helena?

But then, I chose to be honest with him. He was my husband and he has every right to know about it. I was about to open my mouth and tell him everything when I noticed a car stopped in front of my car and three men came into view. I didn't know why but I suddenly felt cold shivers ran throughout my whole body.

I quickly hid the phone in my pocket without ending the call when I noticed them heading towards me. They looked suspicious and I knew from just one glance that they won't do any good thing.

I wanted to drive my car out of that place as soon as I could but I noticed that they were armed with guns.

One guy went towards me and knocked on the car's window while the two remained near their car. My body began shaking with fear when he pointed the gun towards me and motioned me to open the door.

I slowly lifted my shaking hand and opened the door.

"Get out!" The man yelled at me and I couldn't do anything than to obliged, hoping that Zander was still on the other line and could hear everything.

"W-Who are you? What d-do you w-want from me?" I tried to toughen myself up and asked them that. The guy smirked to the two other guys before he looked at me with a looked that made the hairs on the back of my neck stand up.

"Our boss instructed us to see if you're really going to follow his instructions and I guess, you didn't tip anything to the police. He just wants to make sure that you will come to him alone and won't change your mind. Now, I want you to behave nicely and come with us"

I didn't know what to do or say. Now that they're here in front of me, I felt like I became helpless and scared all of a sudden. The bravery that I felt a while ago disappeared. I almost groaned in frustration. My mind was blank and the fear was slowly eating the remaining strength left in me.

I just let them dragged me to their car while hoping that someone will pass by and see me but that never happened. Everything happened so fast.

They deposited me inside before they put a blindfold on me. I tried to fight but they were stronger than me. They handcuffed my hands too. I kept on shouting for help but no one arrived.

I felt the car stared moving away from that place. I couldn't fight my tears anymore and cried.

"Don't worry, miss. Just follow what our boss tells you and nobody will get hurt for sure" I shook my head as my hands formed into tight fists. I felt outraged. Who are these people to treat me like this? I don't even know them!

"What does your boss want from me?! Why is he doing this to me?!" They laughed like they were so amused of my question.

"Why don't you ask him yourself? Anyway, we're almost there. If I were you, I will ready myself because our boss will surely----"

"What? What is he planning to do with me?" I asked angrily. Even though I felt scared, the anger was there too. They laughed again.

"Of course, you already know it" The fear doubled. Oh, God! Please, don't let these people succeed of what they're planning to do with us.

15 minutes or so later and the car finally came to a halt.

They dragged me to somewhere again while I was still trying to fight them but to no avail. I tried kicking them but my efforts were just wasted.

"Sit here and don't ever move or else---" One them ordered me and made me sit on something that felt like a bed.

"Leave us alone" A very familiar voice echoed in the place where they brought me into. I knew who that voice belong to because I've been with him for how many years and I treated him as a friend before our friendship was ruined that caused me to ran away from that place.

The sound of footsteps leaving us and the closing of the door echoed again. My throat felt so dry and my heartbeat became so fast, I couldn't even breathe properly. I felt like my heart was already in my throat.

"Please tell me that you're not what I think you are" I said with a trembling voice. I heard him laugh.

"What if I am?" I gulped inaudibly and suddenly out of words to say. I wanted to shout at him and even hit him but I couldn't. Fear was running in my whole system.

"Please, just let me go. As far as I know, I've never done anything bad to other people for you to do this to me"

"You didn't do anything bad? Did you suddenly have an amnesia, Jewel? What about what you did to me?" He asked with a voice full of anger. Gone was the playful voice he had a while ago. I knew what he was referring to but I felt like I need to see his face first in order for reality to sink in my head.

I couldn't accept the fact that he was the one behind this.

"C-Can you remove my blindfold. I wouldn't understand what you're talking about if I can't even confirm who you are"

"Hmmm...Sure. Why not? But in one condition. Put your hands together behind you" I hesitated but I did as I was told. Maybe because of the fear that he would hurt me that I just complied without question.

I felt him came closer to me and touched my wrists.

"What are you doing?!" I almost shouted in panic.

"You're wrists are already reddish. You should've fought my men because you wouldn't escape no matter what anyway.

"Damn you! I'll get out of here for sure and you'll go to jail" I retorted bravely.

He chuckled before I felt him slowly removing the blindfold from me. I blinked for a couple of times, trying to adjust to the brightness of the surroundings but I didn't even have the hard time doing so because I realized that we were in a small room where a single lamp which was lighting the whole area.

I looked at my right side and then to my left but I couldn't find him.

"Looking for me?" I gasped and my eyes widened when I heard his voice near my ear.

"Why?" It was all I could say when he finally went in front of me and that confirmed my suspicion all along. I wanted to cry because I've never thought that he could do this to me. I knew he has a bad side in him but who doesn't negative side in them?

But to the extent of kidnapping me? I couldn't believe he had the guts to do so. The rumors were right. Daniel really is a dangerous man.

He smirked but I could see the bitterness in his eyes.

"You're really asking me that, Jewel? Did you even know what level of embarrassment I received when you ran away from our wedding?" He asked through gritted teeth. He placed a chair in front of me and sat there while looking at me intently.

"You did that to yourself, Daniel! I already turned down that wedding but you still announced it to the public. I ran away because nobody listened to me. You treated me like a business venture. I am not my father's asset and you know that! I have a mind of my own and I can make decisions of what's best for me! Even you, you're my friend but you never listened to me! I already told you that I won't marry you just because of the sake of business!" I was breathless because of rage while saying all that to him. I saw his jaw clenched and his eyes turned darker.

"It's not just about business, Jewel! Your father gave me and my father his word and you must follow it!"

"What do you mean by that?"

"Your father owed us a large sum of money. His business was on the brink of bankruptcy but we assisted him financially. He must pay that amount within three years but I realized that I wanted something other than money and that's you! I asked him to let me marry you in exchange of the money he owed us and he agreed. Now, I want to get what's rightfully mine! You are mine, Jewel. I've been waiting for so long to have you but you're so stubborn. I didn't want to resort on kidnapping you but I couldn't think of anything other than this anymore" I shook my head vigorously.

"You're wrong, Daniel! I am not yours and you know it! Whatever deal you had with my father has nothing to do with me!" He clicked his tongue for a couple of times before he stood up and went closer to me again. He put a finger under my chin and made me meet his eyes.

"You're wrong, Jewel, because you belong to me. Keep that in mind! Anyway, I don't want you to get bored in here so I invited your friend and your father to join you" He said. My eyes widened upon hearing what he said. I suddenly remembered that I was not the only one that he kidnapped!

He dialed on his phone and instructed someone to bring them in the room. After how many minutes, I heard the door opened and I wanted to cry when I saw Helena and my father. I began wiggling out of the handcuffs around my wrists but I couldn't get out of it. I couldn't help but to cry helplessly when I noticed the bruises on their bodies. They looked weak from all the beatings they received.

The men who were with them pushed them on the floor before they laughed like it was a funny sight.

"Dad, Helena! You're all heartless! Damn you all!" I shouted furiously while still trying my best to get out of the handcuff. My wrists were already more sore and reddish but I didn't care.

"I want you to ready yourself, Jewel, because we're going to be wed tomorrow here. Finally, the happy ending that I've beendreaming of for the two of us will come true" Daniel said while smirking evilly.
