He sat in the back of the little café, at a table that was mostly away from people. He sipped on his hot cocoa when you arrived.

You put your coat and purse on the chair next to you and sat in front of him.

"Hi", you said, smiling at him.

"Hey", he noticed your reddened cheeks, unsure if it was because of him or the cold weather. It had been snowing a little lately, the perfect time so shortly before christmas.

"Sorry that I'm late, I had to fix something with a client of mine", you apologized.

He chuckled and waved it off. The moment of awkward silence was gone. In the next hour you both laughed so much that you couldn't breath, ate so many chocolate muffins and biscuits that your stomachs hurt and drank hot cocoa and tea fit for an entire day.

He checked his phone for notifications but saw the time and frowned.

"Oh shhhh-oot"

You laughed at that, "What?"

"I didn't expect this to be so long and actually planned to go christmas presents shopping after that and the shops close soon"

"Oh, well you would you feel if I say I'm going with you?"

"Really? Uhm sure" He paid for everything even though you wanted to split it.

You strolled around the city for a while when you came across a pet shop. Of course you had to stop by and take a look.

"Awww look at them", you exclaimed, seeing a pair of kittens playing around in their cage (this is such a rough word for the situation).

"Mhm cute but I'm more of a dog person y'know?"

"Okay, well can we go in? Or don't you have enough time left?"

"No-I mean yes we can go in", he muttered.

You spent the rest of your afternoon between fur and feathers, cuddling and feeding all kinds of pets.
