Padme's Dream
It was the middle of the night, and Padme was in deep sleep. But this night was deferent than any other.
Her dreams were filled with visions. Images flashed before her, like a lifetime not yet lived.
She saw two babies. She could feel their presence, it was so new, yet so familiar.
The image changed, a boy stood on a desert planet and watched two suns set on the horizon. At first, she thought it was Anakin. But as he turned she saw that it wasn't him, yet he resembled Anakin greatly. And his presence was so familiar. There was so much of Anakin in him that she wondered if it was Anakin, from a future where he'd stayed on Tatooine and never became a Jedi.
She walked towards the boy, but the scene before her changed suddenly.
She found herself on a starship. She stood in a hall. Just ahead of her was a young girl who mirrored herself in many ways. She wore a white dress and her dark hair was put up in buns on the sides of her head.
The young maiden looked at her, and Padme was sure that she could see her. As they looked at each other, Padme saw sadness in the girl's eyes. But also hope. A strong hope that could carry her through the worst of circumstances.
Padme felt connected to her in a way that she had never felt connected to anyone else in her life.
The scene changed again and she saw a dark figure coming towards her. A mask covered his face, and she could hear his deep breaths. In his hand was a lightsaber, that cast a red glow through the dark room.
Padme knew that she should fear the figure before her. Yet, somehow she couldn't. The presence of the figure was warm and familiar beyond his outer form. And beyond the first layers of hate, anger, evilness, and darkness she sensed, was light, goodness, sadness, and even love.
She felt that she should go to the dark figure, that he was truly a good person trapped in this evil form. That he only needed her to bring out the good in him.
She went to him and wrapped her arms around him in a hug.
"Padme?" He said.
There was something so familiar about him. His presence reminded her of Anakin, like Anakin was trapped within this dark figure. But before she had time to ask him who he was, the scene changed again.
Now she saw the boy from Tatooine hugging the girl with hope burning in her eyes. Their seemed to be a strong bound between them.
The scene changed again and now they were both old. The girl was now a woman, her face beginning to show wrinkles, but her eyes still burning with hope. The boy also had wrinkles on his face, and a beard. He seemed broken, but there was still that same determination in him as she had seen when he was young.
She watched as he bent down and kissed the girl on the head. The bound between them seemed to have grown stronger than before.
Again the scene changed, and this time she stood before another dark figure. His red lightsaber burned like a raging fire. He was different than the first, but he was also the same.
She felt great conflict within him. A battle between light and darkness raged within him.
His presence was so unfamiliar, yet she had felt it before. In the dark figure she had seen before, and in Anakin. Was it Anakin that stood before her? She couldn't see his face, but she could feel a small part of Anakin in him. Not all of Anakin, just a small part of him.
But as she looked at the figure another vision entered her mind. It was the image of a small boy with dark hair. He was in pain. A dark presence had invaded his mind, and was torturing him. Padme wanted so desperately to help him, but couldn't.
Then she knew what she had to do. Anakin could help him.
"Anakin!" She cried.
Then she heard footsteps behind her. She turned to see the first dark figure approach her. But he was different now. His mask and clothes were burnt and crumbled, by age. All the good she had once felt in him was gone. All that had reminded her of Anakin was gone. Life and light were gone and only an evil dark shell remained. Yet the figure approached her with a red lightsaber in his hallow hands.
Suddenly Padme was filled with fear. The part of the figure that she had felt compassion for was gone and only fear remained.
She tried to run, but found that she could not move. But the figure went past her to the boy. He offered him his hand. But Padme could sense that he had no intention of helping the boy, but of pulling him to the Dark Side.
The figure began to walk away, the boy's hand in his.
"Stop!" Padme yelled, wanting to save the boy from the dark side that enslaved him. She reached out and grabbed the dark figure's cape to stop him.
The figure turned, his lightsaber suddenly in his hand. He moved suddenly, stabbing her in the stomach.
"Anakin!" Padme cried, opening her eyes.
She looked around, she was in her room laying in her bed.
"It was just a dream" she told herself.
But Padme had had dreams before, everyone had. But these dreams were different from any other she'd ever had. It seemed so real. It was more like the dreams Anakin had, visions of the future. She knew that he had these dreams because the Force was strong within him.
She could still feel the throbbing pain in her stomach from where the dark figure had stabbed her.
She placed her hand over the throbbing pain. She could feel movement. She could feel life, hope and strength. And she could feel the Force for the first time, not only in the life she now carried, but also within herself.
She suddenly filled with hope such as she had never felt, and it made her forget her nightmare.
