Chapter 18

SOPHIA'S POV

Amber helped me catch up to all the assignments done, and explained all the concepts done in class. After two hours of hard work, I was all done.

I went to get coffee with Amber, and we were talking and teasing each other like old friends.

"I forgot to tell you!" Amber exclaimed, "Soccer and volleyball tryouts are tomorrow."

Soccer. A sport I used to love to play. A sport I excelled in. It was mine and Michael's special thing. Sneaking out of the house at midnight, playing till dawn broke. After he was deported back to Mexico, I continued playing for a month, then I broke my ankle really badly.

When I was finally allowed sports, I dropped soccer completely, as it was a part of my old life, the life I was trying to leave behind. I joined the school volleyball team instead, and in my sophomore year, I was the captain of my school team.

"I'll go to the volleyball tryouts." I told Amber. "Are you trying out?"

"Nah, I'll probably go for track, though."

We sat in silence, at the coffee cafe, sipping our coffees, and Amber suddenly said, "What's up with you and Aiden?"

My face heated up and I innocently asked, "What d'you mean?"

Amber smirked and looked at her phone. She then pulled out a photo of me and Aiden intertwined and sound asleep.

My face was super red and I was flustered and embarrassed. "Please delete that."

"Nope." Amber winked. "You should consider dating him, though."

I ran my fingers through my hair. "I don't know... I don't think I've ever been so attracted to anyone. It's kind of scary."

"Attracted in what sense?"

"Like, everytime I see Aiden, I have this sudden urge to kiss him," I continued quietly, "Or jump him."

"Then do it!" Amber yelled.

I protested, "I don't even know him! Does he even like me?! What if he doesn't want me like I want him?!"

Amber face-palmed herself and muttered something like, "I'm surrounded by dumb people in love."
